As much as I'd like to disagree with old Friedrich, I can't. Which means it's both lol

Encouraging scriptures for the day
by Kosonen inhello my friends,.
here are some encouraging scriptures for the day:.
revelation 21:2 i also saw the holy city, new jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from god and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.. hebrews 11:10 for he (abraham) was awaiting the city having real foundations, whose designer and builder is god.. revelation 21:24 and the nations will walk by means of its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.. revelation 22:1 and he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, flowing out from the throne of god and of the lamb 2 down the middle of its main street (of the holy city).

they don’t need to go on door to door anymore and there is no requirement for anything really.. taking meeting parts is all dead easy you could turn up on the day with zero preparation because it’s all in the meeting workbook.. quarterly elders meetings are just old men having a good old natter just like old men do down the pub.. congregations could be likened to pubs or bars these days just without the drinks, those come at other times.. no need for territory maps, these almost went away with covid letter writing now they are extremely slow getting finished as those who still go door to door only do ten mins.. you could even voice your questions these days about things the gb say and then just say “we can’t be dogmatic we just don’t know”.
i predict they will say this about 1914 soon..

so what will you do when your elders find out your on apostate sites--and talk to other congregation members ?
Its obvious Ted doesn't play by the 'rules'. And I agree with him, that you can believe and live your life anyway you see fit. The idea of embracing certain aspects of the JW faith works especially if you've been in it most of your life. Things are always changing and an absolute cutting off of the religion seems less likely, but possible. In fact all of us here are still mentally tied to it in some form or another. We are not completely indifferent.

If 1914 gets tossed
by Leathercrop init feels like the change in reporting of hours becomes a fundamentally bigger deal every day.
the weight and importance placed on quantity was enormous, and now it's just gone.
even tho most witnesses really didn't keep "accurate" records so to speak hehehe.... this could very well be a precursor to even bigger doctrinal changes, like 1914. damn, would would happen then?.

They have said in recent writings that Micheal who they think is Jesus fought with Satan and the demons and threw them out of heaven about 1914.
Elderberry
This, what does ABOUT even mean? Lol, then it seems they've already tossed the doctrine then. The word about doesn't mean anything.

Thoughts on a WT Reformation
by Fr.RAS ini posted what follows elsewhere but thought it might be of interest here as well.
my forst posting here so i apologize in advance if this is not in the correct place.. a tribute to ray franz (on what would have been his 98th birthday) and to ed dunlap, his collaborator.
last week would have marked the 98th birthday of a man for whom most of us here have high regard.

I knew both men. Ed Dunlap was my primarily school instructor when I was at Bethel from 1970-1974.
So to answer your question after your long talk/walk memory lane and after being a Jehovah's Witness for over 50 years I have your answer to ...
"Imagine what the cult would look like today had the Society worked itself out of its self-insularity by following Ray Franz vs Fred Franz in 1980/81."
It would still look like a CULT! Just a mutated one. With thousands of suicides, pedophiles and wrongful deaths that would still not have been prevented! They would still be blood guilty! Even if they did everything Ray and Ed said.

Lmao, this was funny.
I imagine it must be pretty difficult to get kicked out of a group that exists almost entirely as a "suggestion" of belief/philosophy/theology. What it sounds like is that Ray's opinion of himself and of his interpretations were far higher than anyone else's, and in classic narcissistic behavior he failed to see that it was him versus everyone else in that room. I imagine a watchtower under Ray would probably been even more controlling and dogmatic aka worse.

Pascal might be roasting in one of the hottest pits of all at this moment, joined by all of the people who thought god was okay with a half-effort.
Yikes, I sure hope hell isn't literal

Yes that faith goes a long way. But here is my question? Is ignorance bliss? Can a placebo work if you are truly not sure if it maybe just placebo?
Hi exbethelite,
Yes, I believe genuine ignorance can be bliss.
Not sure if I'm understanding your follow up questions correctly tho.
As far as what the Bible promises...these days I tend to simply accept that human beings are here on earth now, more specifically myself, and I don't worry much about what will happen after I die. The concepts of heaven after death can clearly be interpreted in so many ways, ie paradise on earth, that it doesn't really matter to me anymore.
Heaven, earth, literal, figurative etc etc ..
I have faith in God, which makes it easy for me to have faith in what the Bible states happened in the past...and what happens in the future I leave to God as well.

Pornography in the Marriage
by LostintheFog1999 inthe magazine that they are studying in the congregation this month has an article at the back about how pornography in a marriage could damage the relationship.. there's one piece of advice that sounds rather scary, the wt suggests that the couple should "consider asking an elder with whom you are both comfortable to sit in and guide your discussions for a time.".
how many of you would want an elder present in your home while you and your partner discussed your personal sexual cravings and the type of porn videos being watched?.

As a former elder, I loved seeing the faces of my co-elders when I would say things like "my wife can take a good whippin"...😁

Hi TonusOH
I understand your questions certainly. It comes down to interpretation at the end, as is the case most always with spirituality of any kind. I tend to feel like a lot of non-hardcore Christians do, at least what I perceive them to, that Christ makes amends where we come up short, and that faith in Christ goes a long way.
