Love your story, glad you enjoy life and music so much! Music is our god-given right to enjoy/express ourselves. No one should take that away from anyone. I threw away lots of good stuff in the 90's, like Iron Maiden, Nirvana and Metallica. It brought me the approval of the elders and eventually I became one myself, always doing the "right" thing. That is...until my fading! Good they don't know what I'm listening to during these days of anger. But I never got counseled myself nor did I hear of others around me. I did hear of one occasion when they checked the private music collection on bethel. There was quite a revenue of "worldly" music and a "soft" pressure to get rid of it.

Did you get " Counseled " about the Music you Listened to While you were a JW ?
by flipper infrom the time i was a small boy - i loved rock n' roll music.
beatles, rolling stones, led zeppelin, hendrix.
i started getting slighted for the music i listened to as i lay in my bedroom listening on headphones to led zeppelin's song " black dog " at age 14 with my elder dad looking suspiciously at me as i'm rocking out .

Something isnt quite right.
by atomant inl was wondering if others get the feeling that the world we live in seems not quite right.l can not pin point anything specific but since childhood days l often get the feeling something isn;t correct.you know the feeling of deja vu.
am l the only one to feel this way?ld love to hear from others and any storys they may have.having been raised in the jdubs maybe lm just suffering mild bouts of paranoia .

Thanks STA, we asked for it, we got it!!! lol At least I got through the half of it. A few thoughts already...
Think about that angel wrestling for 21 days without giving up. He could have given up at one or two weeks or after 20 days. He could have gone back to Jehovah and said I fought against that demon but that demons was strong. But he struggled until he got reinforcements.
So Jehovah and god-knows how many angels were watching this live WWF game before their very eyes for 21 days??? Wow, and we should hate what god hates????
Another example of elders' faith that we can imitate: elders that have been serving for many decades and they have thought the end would have come by now but despite unfufilled expectations they don't give up. How glad those elders will be when the end does come.
The end will come for many of them when they will die old, worn out and heart-broken because of their many disfellowshipped children, while seeing an exodus of their young, fresh and more intelligent fellow-elders.
Third thing - Imitate - their faith. Examples: expressions of faith we want to imitate. Some elders simplify their life and even go to full time ministry? Are you able to meditate and reason because that elder knows the real value is treasure in heaven not treasure on earth? Treasure on earth can be here today and gone tomorrow.
What a nice upbuilding talk towards the (older) bethelites that got kicked out! Tell that also to the ones who sold their houses and properties before 1975. It was just a short time, just a few years at most. Young ones would not grow old in the system of things. Some did not have kids because of the burden during Armageddon. Well, treasures on earth gone yesterday, not easily back today or even tomorrow!

John Denham Parsons
by opusdei1972 in"the non-christian cross" by john denham parsons, is a work that is still used by the watchtower society as a "proof" that the greek word stauros does not mean cross.
here a portion of this work:.
now the greek word which in latin versions of the new testament is translated as crux, and in english versions is rendered as cross, i.e., the word stauros, seems to have, at the beginning of our era, no more meant a cross than the english word stick means a crutch.

slimboyfat wrote: At the very end Jackson claims the GB have apologised in the past about other things. The narrator says they haven't. I guess Jackson has in mind the non-apology apology about 1975 that appeared in one of the Yearbooks. If that counts that's still only one example. Are there any others?
Hmmm, what about this one?
*** w13 1/1 p. 8 Should You Fear the End of the World? ***HAVE JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES GIVEN INCORRECT DATES FOR THE END?Jehovah’s Witnesses have had wrong expectations about when the end would come. Like Jesus’ first-century disciples, we have sometimes looked forward to the fulfillment of prophecy ahead of God’s timetable. (Luke 19:11; Acts 1:6; 2 Thessalonians 2:1, 2) We agree with the sentiment of longtime Witness A. H. Macmillan, who said: “I learned that we should admit our mistakes and continue searching God’s Word for more enlightenment.”
Not an apology really, but it doesn't seem to get closer than this, right? -

Is the reasoning book no longer in use ?

Don't know if it's out of print. It better be, it's so outdated! Can you imagine the number of misquotations? I've been waiting for an updated, fresh version for many years, but now it's too late...I'm out!

Some elders tactics during my fading (appeal to emotion and circular reasoning)

it's about time to share some more experiences regarding my recent fading, which began end september.
not very spectacular i think, but reckonizable maybe.

Thank you Phizzy and Flipper. It's so sad to see they are not able to break through that WT fence. Maybe one day, some words and memories of these kind of debates will become seeds of TTATT.
