Welcome and greetings from The Netherlands, we have the highest coffee consumption in the world!
Good books...take your time.
this is my first post and i'm feeling like i'm doing something bad big time!
i know on my mind it isn't, but the feelings are less manageable.. well, since i'm still a jw it's better not to give too much info, but i'm from brazil.. i've grown-up in the religion and practicly all my family, my closest friends and my girlfriend are loyal jws.
i used to be a regular pioneer but i still have a service privilege on my congregation.. i've had questions about the teachings of the wt since i was 10, but naturally i always pushed it away as it were "questioning the holy organization".. i started a friendship with some people in a course i took and we talked about a lot of subjects.

Thanks for the telling picture D1799. Looks depressing...
Maybe it's the only (subtle) way to get the elderly witnesses going in service. The Borg is aging fast!
@ ZAPPA-ESQUE...lol. I've read such comments earlier on another cart-thread, now I can finally see the picture.
it is quite a step to register, still in.
old family in, good marriage in.
i dont know exactly how much to say and not let too much out to get caught.
Welcome, good you took the step to register because this forum sure is not a road to nowhere . No, it's a road to reason, advice, comfort, to vent and sometimes (if you want) a heated debate.
Try and search this forum...there are tons of similar experiences to find. Maybe you'll find some inspiration when and what to say to your kids/grandkids.
what a journey!.
it was a year ago today that i was announced from the platform by brother paul "twofaced" castley that i was "no longer one of jehovah's witnesses".
i didn't go to that meeting to hear the announcement because i already didn't believe the watchtower religion.. how was my first year?
Congratulations pale, and yes I remember your 1st post very well, what a ride indeed and what a difference. From JW to atheist in about a year is quite a shift, you overtook me at great speed .
i got high in Amsterdam
I lolled at that, good to taste our cultural richess!
Anyway, I'm glad you still have your litlle princess under your care and have found more peace in your life and had a few opportunities to anti-witness. Thanks for all your contributions to this forum...cheers from the land of the tulips!
Like another thread said: "...but it gives meaning to our lives!".
Lol
What sister would wear such a thing?
there's an an easy way to use your cell/mobile 'phone to get illegal drugs; just press the "hash" key - or if you want something stronger, use the "speed" dial!
.
Hash?
Speed??
the watchtower has held for many years that jesus died on a stake and held strongly to this teaching.
w 1951 3/15 the above agrees with the new world translation of the christian greek scriptures in its appendix, page 769, in saying that the instrument upon which jesus was nailed was a stake without a crossbeam, and not the religiously represented “cross”; and that the greek word used for that instrument in ancient time meant a “stake” and not the conventional religious cross.
they are no longer certain on this point.
Thanks for the link Anders. So it's not so big after all ey?

Bungi Bill, F. Franz would turn in his grave lol
So, from cross to stake to uncertain? Wow, just wow! Is this WT's next step towards a more mainstream religion?
Next question (if official): will JW's be allowed to have/wear a cross?
an interesting link that notes how jw (and mormon) door-to-door evangelism has dropped off:.

the aussie writer notices that instead they have "set up a stall in the carpark at the supermarket.".
I think most (western) areas show this but I wonder, how do the circuit overseers cope with this? I remember how they always were pushing the service overseer and the publishers to try to visit the householder twice a year. I left the Borg before my first opportunity to do cart witnessing, so I "missed" this new era...
