Well...It's 2018 and still no ''Armageddon''
by RULES & REGULATIONS in1972 : we started studying with the jehovah's witnesses when my uncle became an elder and put fear into our family that armageddon was close.
1974 : my mom, my brother and i were all baptized after all the convention talks and watchtower magazine articles that 1975 would likely end this system of things.
1999 : being told that the year 2000 was going to mark the 6 thousand years of mans existence and that the 1000 year kingdom in the new paradisewould come in the year 2000.

Yes, it's 2018 and I'm happy!
On the other hand we see how the embarrassment for the bORG grows with each passing year. So many are tired of waiting and there's the risk of exposure of their history of false dates. No, They are not happy at all with 2018.
Yet they refuse to give up 1914 because they know that would be very embarrassing as well.
But hey... has anyone ever said that it would be easy to be a false prophet?

New Letter: Announcements and Reminders
by Brian J inletter dated 1/1/2018.
i know they are trying to simplify but it all is such a confusing mess.... forms, dates, calculators, committees, logins, publisher record cards.....jesus would barf.
to all bodies of elders re: announcements and reminders dear brothers: in an effort to reduce the number of letters sent to all bodies of elders and congregations, most announcements from the branch office will now be conveyed to congregations by means of the announcements and reminders (s-147) form.

Well well. Reducing letters? What a boring start of 2018 for the bORG....gone are the days of wondrous expansion and exciting new light!

Child abuse
by Jrjw ini was talking to a jdub yesterday about child abuse in the organisation and this was his response:.
"it has been known for kids to make stuff up.
we have to trust the society on these things, also the legal process is there.

Sad...head in the sand. Kids make stuff up? It is more common for kids to hide the abuse out of fear of reprisals...then they grow up with serious emotional anxiety issues.
So do adults. In cases of molestation then let the police investigate.
Tiki, punkofnice and many others, you nailed it and yes, it angers me too! (shaking hands with wakemeup...)
I already posted twice here but I can't get this thought out of my head of this JW blaming kids for making stuff up. HTF would he even know without the help and input of professionals in the field??? It's so sick man! It's very rude and heartless to say such a thing, only to save your WT face.
It reminds me also of those two assholes in Australia (Terrence O'Brien and Rodney Spinks) who dared to claim before the ARC that abuse victims who choose to leave the congregation in order to protect themselves can be seen as persons who choose to shun the congregation for THEMSELVES!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_6SYNPwQ6o
So, summarizing these two statements that
1) it's been known that kids make stuff up, and
2) that abuse victims who are leaving in fact are the ones who choose to shun the congregation
give me an even more horrible and uncomfortable feeling than I already had since I broke with the bORG. Even after being out for +two years now, the potential dangers of such a twisted mindset occur even more threatening to me than ever before and are becoming clearer and clearer every time a JW is allowed to give an official or personal "justification" for what's happening in the bORG.
May 2018 bring more common sense to those who are brainwashed and justice and satisfaction to the victims!.

some years later people were actually asked to contribute towards a second horse for her as she wanted to sell the first and get a better horse
Oh no Phoebe, please, no second horse.... imagine just when I thought your first report of events was already pretty extreme!

I just know that Satan will do his best to discredit the witnesses.
I do believe the press on a lot of things just not jw stuff.
Yes, blind obedience to the gb, denial of facts and the persecution complex make JW thinking VERY cultish! They seem to feel special and thrive on the idea that satan paying more than the regual attention to them makes them the only true religion.
If I could I would ask that fu#ker why Geoffrey Jackson admitted under oath that there IS a problem with child abuse within the organisation.

Nice quote
by Gorbatchov inwith christmas gorby had a good talk with his jw father about “time tends to fly” and how everything changes.. he concluded: “if our grandparents would visit the kingdom hall now, they would headshaking left the building and never returned.”.
it says something, does it?.

It’s about all.
And the more and more lose of christian love in the congregationDidn't think of that one at that moment Gorby, but how sad and what a painfull addition to "about all". I hope you can have more good talks with your dad and that it can help to really let reality sink in regarding the WT's legacy of false hope and broken dreams.

But when an elder's wife started suffering from depression, her brother, who was also an elder, said 'I know what she needs to cheer her up - a horse!' And, I kid you not, there was a collection and they bought her one!
Phoebe, I also knew a depressed elder's wife in a similar situation. Her therapist told her to do things she REALLY liked (o the irony) as part of her therapy and she decided that it would be...oh yesss... horse-ride le$$ons on a weekly basis! She had no paid job so her full-time working elder husband paid for it and she quickly applied her given medical advice to only visit meetings if she felt she could handle it. Don't know if he ever bought that horse for her, but we all know how expensive lessons and horse related things are and in fact unreachable for the poor in the cong.
Not condemning depression or horse-lessons in any way, but isn't it impressive to see how the holy spirit can work through a body of elders? The key lies in Hebrews 13:7. The rank and file just need to "imitate their faith" and work a bit harder and who knows,,,maybe they will receive such wonderful blessings as well?
Cliques and money...and the poor waiting for Jehovah. The rabbit hole is deep in JW la la land.
