Hi everyone,
thanks for your comments!
Mr. Falcon - "What point of counsel are you working on?"
The one that wasn't on the counsel-slip : SPEAKING THE TRUTH
problemaddict - "So what will you discuss that you think will resonate with your audience and get them to write about you?"
I don't want anybody to write about me (I'm doing this by myself already). This meeting is about information and is one of the many attempts to draw the attention of the public to the damages cults are doing. And I've got some first hand experiences to share.
BtheE - "You can finally put all that public speaking training to good use."
Yeah, finally. That's btw one thing I really appreciate regarding my jw-past. Little Borges gave his first Bible-Reading when he was six years old. So reading or speaking in front of an audience is nothing that fears me.
notjustyet - "Can you get someone to video this and put it on YouTube for us to see?"
Don't know if there will be made videos. But all the parts of this meeting will later be published in print.
I'll keep you informed.
Thanks again to all of you!

I gave a lot of talks as a jw. Beeing the only elder in a cong for almost three years, I've been on the platform at every meeting (also at CA and DC). But thats long ago. Last time, I went on a jw stage was in 2005.
Lots of things happened since then.
Now I've got an invitation to give a talk at a meeting held by an association that is enganged in warning against cults and totalitarian religion groups.
The topic will be: Disengagement from cults - ways, difficulties and consequences. Me and another Ex-JW (someone I knew from my time in german bethel and met once again on a german apostate web-site) will get one hour to speak about our personal experiences leaving the jw cult.
Besides interested audience, there will be journalists, psychologists and authors, who are working on the subject.
It's very exciting and I'm looking forward to.
It'll be fun to be back on the stage - and it'll be strange, too.
There is a saying (hope I put it right): "I became one of the persons, my parents always warned me of." In my case (as an ex-jw, whose whole family is still in), it is true in a very special way.

Remarkable Statistic - Bible Studies compared to Baptisms
by jwfacts ini am surprised i have not noticed this before, particularly since this is one of the most important statistics, and so have just added the new graphs to watchtower publisher statistics.. the number of bible studies generally trends roughly with the number of publishers on a one to one basis.
however, the number of baptisms has not been rising.
this has resulted in a rapidly falling conversion rate.

Wow, that is really remarkable.
Well, you can fake your hours on the report and even the number of bible-studies. But you can't fake a baptism. With these graphs you can see, what's really going on: More and more effort (real or pretended) but the results remain the same - close to insignificant.
Thanks for your work!

Whatever the reasons may be, it is a sign, that more and more of the witnesses feel kind of uncomfortable with their own religion and try to find a way to express their feelings beyond of what they've been told to be appropriate.

Of all the figures and numbers I like this the most. Because it is something that comes from within. It is a cancer growing in the intestines of this religion.

2012 report analysis - countries with reduced publisher figures
by cedars ini've just started munching through the figures for 2012 in the new 2013 yearbook, now available on jw.org.. i thought you might be interested to see which countries saw "negative growth" over 2012.. these are as follows.... .
*sudan is so dramatically reduced because south sudan is now independent and the society has adjusted the publisher figures accordingly.. .
countries added.

Thank you cedars!
I'm happy to see Germany on that list.
BTW, the biggest german news-magazine (DER SPIEGEL) mentioned this week, that JWs in Germany (and Europe in general) have a very low birth-rate compared to other religions. In the article was stated, that fast growing religions are those who align their members to have offspring.
The jw face two problems: Having kids isn't promoted by the watchtower, because they want all the young folks beeing pioneers. And field-service doesn't bring as much new dubs in, as people leave the borg or die.
I wonder, how much longer they will publish the worldwide report.

Requalifying as an Elder
by alfredjones100 ini'd like to throw something out to the exelders.. over the years since i stepped down as an elder, my dislike for the society and its ways has clearly grown.. but my love for the bible and my family and friends in the congregation has not got less.. i feel sorry that they are not mature enough to grasp the concept that you dont need the society to make god happy.. so i have been thinking ( and its just a crazy thought at the moment ) to requalify as an elder and to begin to really teach the truth.. to really challenge their thinking and take my talks to the limit without getting busted as a heretic.. whats youre thought?.

Very often I think about the damage I've done as an elder.
Once I was part of a JC (in Ecuador). We held trial over a young sister. Her husband left her and she didn't know where he went. She had two small kids and it was very diffucult (nearly impossible) to sustain herself and her children. But she met a man who was willing to provide for her and the kids. But she couldn't be divorced because nobody knew where the husband was. So she lived togehter with this man without beeing married. In the first meeting we told her, that she has to leave the guy, otherwise we have to df her. We gave her two weeks. In the second meeting she was sitting in front of us crying, because she saw herself unable to finish the relationship with this man, because of the kids and the economic hardship she would suffer by leaving this man. We dfed her and she left the hall crying and broken.
We were assholes. No more and no less.
You really like to join that club again?

Don't do it. Why should you deceive people who are already deceived?
When you know it's all bs, than have the guts and stand for your opinion. Tell them what you think and leave. They have to wake up on their own.
