  the Book of Enoch and the Nephilim

  i've heard all my cognizant life that angels from heaven looked upon the daughters of men, took wives, and their wives bore giants called nephilim.. i've heard all my adult life about the book of enoch and why it's apocryphal and to be avoided.. so tonight i was curious enough to download an e-book and have a look, since dothemath had the thread about rarely used scriptures and the book of jude directly quotes from the book of enoch.. if jude quotes from enoch, shouldn't both or neither of them be canonical?

  if you consider jude canonical, then enoch should be too.. hey, how many fallen angels were there again?

  two thirds of heaven, right?

  The JWs will go on and on about how the Dead Sea scrolls were such an incredible find.

  The book of Enoch was in there :) Parts of the original language at least. They were trying to help preserve and save this book.

  Great points and well researched, thank you. This always made me think the same. If Jude quotes from the book then why wouldn't we refer to it. It made no sense, until I too looked at it and it clicked.

  this was always something i had trouble believing as i was growing up.

  now i'm in my 30's i can see this will never happen.

  even if the un the nwo whoever forces a global ban on religion.

  This was always something I had trouble believing as I was growing up. Now i'm in my 30's I can see this will never happen. Even if the UN the NWO whoever forces a global ban on religion. It will still go on in private by all religions. But the big one that would never accept this, are Muslims.

  I'm sure a lot deep down would love the idea of the shackles taken off them. I in fact feel more sorry for them than us ex JW's They have a much harder time to leave and even lose their lives.

  Yeah it's front page of the BBC now. Great news hey. This should move the Watchtower to similar action. If they did that it sure would help repair their image. While they sit on all this evidence that could potentially put thousands behind bars for their crimes. It will not do anything to help their image one bit to do nothing. If they came out, handed it all over to the authorities and said "investigate" that would show they are trying to help. But we all know this will never happen.

  Absolutely. These are crimes against children. These monsters should pay for what they did. Being a father this makes my blood boil, so to speak. I hope we get real justice for those children that have had to grow up living with this. Seeing no action taken against their perpetrator, or for those bless them that took their own lives.

  It makes me very happy to watch a news report like this and see the desire and motivation for bringing those to justice, regardless of their age or how long ago it was.

  Mass JW exodus

  maybe there will be a mass exodus from jws when thinking people read feb 2017 watchtower telling them the governing body stuff up, shouldnt expect correct/ perfect information and basically make up guff as they see fit.....ya reckon?.

  Would be great to see a mass exodus and see so many people wake up. But they are so indoctrinated that even if they held their hands up and admitted it was a con. You would still get people follow because they have to believe something. They would say something like "The WTS were so humble to admit it was a fake and a con, and so because of their humility I will still follow" hahaha. Some people will be in it for the rest of their life because they choose to be ignorant.

  Question for those that have been Disfellowshiped for apostasy VS succesfully fading

  there are quite a few here who have been disfellowshipped for apostasy.. then there are those that have successfully faded.. why the different outcome?

  are the ones that got df more out spoken?

  or does the discrepancy lie with the elders?.

  My brother is shunning me big time and his wife. We have nothing to do with each other and I have a child and they have children. Sadly they don't even see each other. If not for my mum arranging for them to be together. The reason for that is I am outspoken.

  But if you want what ever family and friends you can get fade and don't say anything. But it's hard. When people ask you, you want to tell them ttatt. But in my heart I so much want to disassociate but I know I will lose my mum.

  It's really hard and my heart goes out to those who have lost loved one.

  just doing research and came across this.. i know this is old however.

  here we have a worldly organisation distributing pamphlets and warning parents about child abuse.. last point in particular.

  3) inform the child that what happened is against the law and that it is necessary to report it to the police so that it will not happen again.. pretty straight forward if you ask me.. watchtower were happy to use that in their magazine.
