"some individuals may feel that violence is their only choice..." but of course individuals mentally disturbed, insane. It's not the law of the jungle.

My thoughts on Church shootings..
by DATA-DOG indisclaimer: i do not approve or condone any acts of violence that result in the deaths of innocent persons.. alright.. let me just say that i have no idea what motivated the latest mass shooting, nor do i condone those actions.
i am, however, beginning to understand why some individuals may feel that violence is their only choice, although i do not approve of that choice.. when i read topics on this forum that concern religion and legalism, topics that drone on and on, getting nowhere, i feel extremely frustrated.
yes, religions are given certain freedoms, but many are obviously going beyond the spirit that motivated the separation of church and state.

What can the leadership at Watchtower do to turn things around?
by UnshackleTheChains inlet's play devils advocate here.. put yourself in the governing body's shoes.
they are well aware of all the issues they are facing.
they know their numbers (they 'do the math' as they say in the us).

WT could use some of the billions they collected in a worlwide last campaign....then make the actually mandatory preaching an 'optional thing' saying in change "you should testify by living an exemplary, Christian life" but they are not going to do that....at least in our lives.

I cry during the National Anthem now
by kairos inafter being a jw for 25 years and finding every weasel way to 'maintain christian neutrality', i now find myself in a completely 'new light'.. i quit abruptly, four years ago and have lived a jw free life with the exception of my born-in wife.when i see the ceremony of the national anthem, it not only reaffirms the absolute beauty of personal freedom, but it also allows me to see that most people are good and loyal to one another.
i treasure my life and have become a patriot.
now i feel ashamed that i was a government/authority rejecting, isolationist that benefited from living in the greatest country in the world.

Independent Catalonia

it seem that periods of instability occur around the world periodically.

The 'population involved' need to really be unified in its purpose to be independent. Like Israel, decades lobbying, then it was the sacrifices of the armed struggle....I mean the old boys of the existing nation-states don't like competition so much. It shoul be a peaceful and civilized process...but usually isn't.

Is There Any Thing That Would Make A JW SERIOUSLY Question Their Religion?
by minimus ini realize that jehovah’s witnesses have been dumbed down for long time now.
.
still, i think there must be something that would make them really question their beliefs, even their life.. i think that if witnesses were told they could take blood or that disfellowshipping was unloving, they might stop and take a hard look at everything they have sacrificed their lives for.. i know the organization has muddled these subjects before but the i think even die hard witnesses might start to second guess the governing body..

Unwritten Theory
by moreconfusedthanever inhave any of you heard some theories from jws that are not based on scripture?
i have, in the past few days, heard a couple that have me shaking my head.. first one is that since satan was around during the creation period and probably watched on as things were being made, it is possible that he is responsible for the creation of some of the more hideous and nasty creatures that live among us.
surely god wouldn't make horrible things.. second one is that satan already had a bad attitude before the creation of adam and eve and was collecting followers among the other angels early on and stirring trouble.

Oh...those theories belong to the Jehova Witness of the Seventh Day....

The prayer switch
by Sour Grapes insomething that i have often thought about is how does god know when our thoughts go from normal thoughts to when we say a silent prayer?
does god listen to all of the thoughts of earth's 8,000,000,000 people 24/7 and when one person goes into prayer mode then god's ears perk up with an "incoming" alert?
then he has to decide if he answers the prayers to help a brother with cancer or just let the poor guy die.

It's a deja vu from Matthew..."For nation shall rise against nation.....". Seriously, I don't think so. It seem that periods of instability occur around the world periodically. Since the Arab Spring to Brexit and Trumpism people want change. I think that if some population have 'individual identity', like their own language and want self governance should be allowed to be independent. It's just that the state-nation as we known it doesn't always is the best, that it needs to be flexible..... What about the We the People...comments?
