Did you actually read the bible end to end?

in my ten years as a witness i never read the whole bible end to end, what with four magazines a month, the book study, meetings and talk preparations, there just wasn’t the time.

i knew all the important references to ‘prove’ the various jw doctrines, and the cherry picked chapters that help foster the idea that it’s a good book, but that’s not reading it.

well after nearly forty years out, i decided i would do it.

Yea, read one time cover to cover, it took me one year, I think the Bible just shows how humanity has tried to resolve big questions, questions that doesn't have easy answers. That has brought all us here and the others sacred texts, and ancient philosophy too....

Still wonders me when it was in the Bible 'accepted' having many wives or when you could take a sword and after a time that was not valid...I mean the change is dramatic sometimes.

Anyway, the big questions are still there, and there's stuff in the Bible that could help...with a grain of salt I guess...

Is the org. Laying the groundwork for no earthly paradise?

in stephen letts annual meeting talk he spent about 15min.

talking about how the garden of eden compares to our spiritual paradise that we are currently inhabiting.

he didn't mention the earthly paradise until the very last sentence.

Ok guys..... I'm in the mood of helping the Borg today.....so I concocted this new light.

Armaggedon (as the book of Revelation of course) is a battle between the armies that oppose God, and the Lamb, Christ. Those armies are going to lost that battle and the Devil be incarcerated in the Abyss for one thousand years, but remember this, it's very important, the 'Nations' are gonna keep going for the one thousand years (20:3). There's a distinction between the armies and the 'Nations'.

So, there's hope for humanity, after all, the Great Crowd comes out from 'every nation, tribe, people and language'. And even after the thousand of years, you know, the 'Nations' still keep going. (21:24).

So, we here at the WT from now on are going to focus in that paradise with all the nations, without evil influence. That means being more inclusive and less judgemental because we don't who's surviving or not. Earthly paradise is gonna be a lot different that we thought, sorry folks.

does anyone remember the book paradise lost to paradise regained?

i was made to study the scary parts evertime i misbehaved which must have been all the time as the book imprinted into my brain.all i wanted in life as a child was to join the girl guides go hang out at the ywca with my friends and take part in sports day at school.so my mother asked the then congregation servant if i was demonized,they decided i would be fertalizer for my mothers pear tree.

anyway i grew up fairly normal,took me ages not to be afraid of lightning.had children who never entered a kingdom hall.most of my family served in some capacity at bethel so they dont talk to me.since then i have been a searcher looking for somthing to fill the void.has anyone found anything??

How things have become....the original Paradise book, the one with the rugged cover is now is a collectible..... specially in the borg. I remember one that my father had...one 'prominent charge' said to him, I'm gonna take this book from you...long time ago.

Typical Antitypical and 1914

watchtower comes along and changes the typical anti typical beliefs and with a stroke of the pen eliminates years of books and teachings.

why does this not apply to 1914?

Yea, you it a nail here, it should be treated the same and scraped right away but it seems for the WT land is a 'ghost of Christmas past'

why not just stop the train?.

British government always wanted all the European Union benefits without adopting the euro. Maybe they are gonna be better just with an association agreement, like Norway. Meanwhile is a mess.

maybe the last is the most worrisome.

it looks like the us know something that we don't know, that they are weak like banana republics, going to comply to whatever demands they make, or that this is the last real chance to stop them.....one little miscalculation and this takes fire...hope not, it's lot more funny talk about the borg.

Well, if the Borg don't want any fun, why they don't create a festival of their own....after that the Israelites had in ancient times three main festivals.... festivals that involve pilgrimages, food, rejoicing, etc.....that could make Borgland not soo boring. Make the Spiritual Paradise Great Again. !

What Do You Think Will Be The Next Big Change In The Watchtower?

i think there will be a change in the 144000 belief.

too many witnesses think they have a heavenly hope.

maybe 1914 will be discarded too.. what is your watchtower prediction?

Make Elders and MS report the time spend shepherding and taken care of Cong. activities so the RF take note and appreciate it more ....but wait....they have put emphasis on simplification

Can you ever see a time when Govt`s of this world will attempt to abolish all religions ?

we are now in the 21st century of our common era with its insights into the potential of what can be achieved in the near future to benefit mankind for years to come .. the co-operation of governments around the world on so many levels has never been better than it is today and it is at least encouraging to see this .. whether it has to do with the climate , the environment ,food production ,safe water for all ,and the better health for all in the near future, and in the future space exploration.

however the problem today is still religion !

in its many extreme forms that divides us in no ways that politics divide us .. politicians learn how to compromise and work with their opponents for the greater good ,whereas religions don`t.. religions divide humans like no politicians ever did well not to the extremes religions will go anyway.. is their going to come a time in history when governments politicians say enough is enough and try attempt to abolish religion ?.

I was reading Revelation, and, spoiler alert, found some crazy things.

Anyway, it says that, as we all know, 'the beast is the eight king, the beast and the ten horns (the kings) are gonna receive authority for one hour with the beast, the beast and the ten horns are gonna hate and destroy Babylon the Great, eating her flesh and burning her with fire in just one hour, leaving her naked and ruined'.

On a contradictory note it also says that 'the kings of the earth will weep and mourn over... Babylon the Great destruction'. Is it repentance over the hour they had with the beast? WT never have dare to explain this.

By the way, as it says there, it is not abolishing religion it's destruction.

Lot's of scholars say that this applied to Rome, so don't worry so much.
