9 After this I saw, and look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number,
yet, they are numbered each year...
notice the 144000 can be counted and they all come from israel.. 9 after this i saw, and look!
a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues,*+ standing before the throne and before the lamb, dressed in white robes;+ and there were palm branches in their hands.+ .
this great crowd, no man was able to number, and they come from every nation!
amazing grace have been around since 1779, how great thou art 1885,holy holy holy 1826, be thou my vision (ireland) 6th century, all creatures of god and king (italy)1225. so you think one day we will hear a kingdumb song playing over the radio.
you would think surely jehovah want the world to be familiar with his hymns.... maybe they have instructed the rf to only sing their songs in the kh, only for special folks..
@sparky1 ty! This was a rarely used, spare set in our cong in the mid of 1980', I was in charge for gramophone, and elder told me: "Take care of this vinyl, bro" so I took care :)
aren't there christian denominations who do not make false end of the world predictions but who nevertheless believe that the world will eventually end and paradise (whether in heaven or on earth) will come?.
it seems the watchtower was just jumping the gun when they made false end of the world predictions but they are nevertheless the right: the world will eventually end and paradise will come..
Even idea of paradise by JW is ridiculous - first kill 99.9% of humanity, then "resurrect" 99.9% people from the past times. Btw, there is nothing to resurrect - by JW teaching, soul = flesh body + impersonal spirit (energy), when someone dies, his soul dies, flesh body decomposes, spirit went back to God. Nothing unique left, just a "memory". So, in "resurrection" God will make a brand new body, put some energy to start life, and download informations from his "memory" to his brain - that is not resurrection, that is a cloning. That is just a replica of people lived once. So whats the point of "paradise" with 99.9% replicas of deceised people?

Ah, memories...
i found this amusing and ironic, but in a nutshell.
stay on the yellow brick road, do as we say and want, and we promise you courage, a heart, a brain and a ticket back home (spirtual paradise now/ physical paradise soon/ resurrection guaranteed )... .
don't ask too many questions or look behind the big curtain, just believe us or you'll fall apart and die... (research or study on your own/internet/ researching the governing body leads to weakness and disfellowshipping).
I like the movie in which Sean Connery revealed true meaning of their god Zardoz:
there are quite a few here who have been disfellowshipped for apostasy.. then there are those that have successfully faded.. why the different outcome?
are the ones that got df more out spoken?
or does the discrepancy lie with the elders?.
In 2001. when UN - NGO affair was on, I sent a letter to local branch asking what's going on. Then they made a committee, start to harassing me, etc, you know how they work. One of the questions was, of course, about my so-called apostasy and my view of GB/FDS. I asked, what you mean under "apostasy"? They answered blah blah. Ok, i said, so, by your definition, whenever FDS brings a new light about something, they express apostasy? Months, even years before they announce something new, they found error in our teaching or praxis, meditate about that, talk to each other how to change wrong thing, and then publish a new "truth" - just as any true apostates. They were stunned, but didn't answered on that.
In other occasions I simply ask: what is more important, GB or Bible? group of men or God's Word? I insist on that question untill they answer: Bible. And I simply point to Deuteronomy 18:20-22; or Galatians 1:8, 9.
so i got a text from an elder who i consider one of the good guys and a friend in his own way.. he asked if he could bring the co by for a visit.
he said it would be "just a pleasant call and visit and will hopefully encourage my wife".
he says that "he knows she is dealing with a ton of pressure".. in all my years around the organization, i never had a visit from the circuit overseer.
@freddo ty!
Well, 15y ago, when UN - NGO affair was on, I sent a letter to local branch asking what's going on. Then they made a committee, start to harassing me, etc, you know how its work. I was devoted till then, after that I was "spiritualy" devastated, but I survived. In the meantime, I froze all activities, just attending meetings once in a few months, to say hello to old folks, some of elders was removed/replaced, one congregation was disbanded, the new policy about faded ones was started, etc. My wife and my and her family was devoted all the time, but, funny thing, I never had problem to talk with elders, any time any place, but she simply hates "visits". That particulary visit was last year, after elder said: it would be just once, a half hour session, nothing more, i promise, and she agrees. CO was talking mostly about his service, his background, state of the cong, branch plans, that thing about visiting every member, etc. No questioning at all. I learn that they trying to change perception of elders visits from "wtf I did wrong?" to "awww, whata honour!"
what with you and your wife being at "hem-hem" different levels of "spirituality."
P.S. We learned to keep our personal life - personal. She didn't anything wrong, but she also experienced some kind of shunning in the cong because of me (to the matter of the fact, I didn't do anything wrong either). She survived too, but with conscience of some things she never dreamed before. To make long story short, we are happier now than earlier.
P.P.S. I'm sorry i can't express on English better, hope it is understable.
so i got a text from an elder who i consider one of the good guys and a friend in his own way.. he asked if he could bring the co by for a visit.

So virtually NOBODY here thinks this could just be an encouraging visit for my wife who has been under a lot of stress with caring for her mother and poor health?
It could be, lately (last two years afaik) they just do casual visits, friendly talks, no questioning, etc. The goal for elders is to visit every family in the cong once a year (or two?), no matter of spiritual stage. They save some cases to CO, especialy divided homes or faded ones. If you didn't anything big last six months, no worry, it will be just a common chat. At least that was when they visited us last year (i'm inactive for 15y, my wife is devoted JW for decades).
from their history, it is evident that jehovah's witnesses are just another doomsday cult.. cults are run by autocrats.
on purpose they are ideologically fixated and they demand that their devotees hold the same absolute certainty of belief without regard for evidence.
the suspension of critical thought is encouraged and by focussing on the objectives of the cult belief in a like minded community, it gives both a sense of direction within a sort of ‘family’ and a hope of paradise perfection.. the leaders have everything to gain by controlling their followers; all the income goes in their direction.. democracy has strictly no part in a running cult.
@LoveUniHateExams, totaly agree, and I would add:
4. Anti-evolution nonsense (making JW kids even more ridiculous)
5. Anti-higher-education nonsense (and then qq how we lack of proffesionals and must hire wordly people for some tasks)
NO for disband (victim card play, Jesus prophecy fullfiled, last year convention drama/movie fullfiled, etc.,) YES for strictly goverment monitoring - JW often say how they battle for civil rights, and then they restrict same civil right for their members (restricting medical choise, discouraging higher education, emotional blackmail those who (tends to) leave, etc.)
i may be reading more into this than is there, but here is what i've spotted from today's watchtower study (oct 2016 study edition) page 14 paragraph 8. concerning daniel it says "thus, some 70 years after his arrival in babylon, he was still known by his hebrew name" referring to an event in the first year of darius ie 539/538 bce.
however, according to the wtbts chronology daniel went to babylon in 617 bce - more like 80 years earlier.
could this (finally) be a step towards ditching 607?.
They can't drop 1914. because that could also affect gravity, electricity and wind :)
