No, science (at least natural one) cannot answer is there a God or not, simply because God is beyond the reach of the science methods by definition. Further, entities and phenomena which cannot be captured by science tools are completely irrelevant to the science.

JWs + Chronic Illness

i once asked my dad why, with all the power the wt insists on having so much control over its adherents' lives, they don't provide information about healthy eating habits or, like the adventists, wilderness training.

i mean, the gb encourage people to remain poor, and poverty is known to correlate with health outcomes, particularly those that are diet related.

i'd say most witnesses i knew over the age of 40 were overweight, had high blood pressure, heart problems, gastrointestinal issues, one kind of cancer or another (no doubt a result of eating their feelings if you ask me).

JWs i know are mostly lazy people, both mentally and physically - reading only the washtowels publication, with "service" as only outdoor activity. The newest "reducing the amount of material that our brothers must read" doesn't help either, making r&f dumb and dumber. Plus what has already been mentioned, hidden alchoholism and pills swallowing are not rare among the JWs.

So there are only 12 magazines left!

ok, so hot on the heels of the announcement at the agm, we have been told that there are probably only 12 magazines left!.

yes, there will be only 3 wt each year, and 3 awakes.... and that they will do this for two years, then reprint those issues.... so yes, the "abundance of spiritual food" is limited to 12 more magazines..... surely, this is proof of the end coming so soon!?!

Till late 1980ies mags and books had a fixed price, we had hardcover books (various formats) every year, 4 mags x 32 pages each month, and no soliciting for money, just pay regular price for products. Good old days...

Idk is that letter genuine or fake, but its content perfectly fits The Watchtower - Study Edition 01/2018, pp 17-21: "Why Give to the One Who Has Everything?" - if the letter is fake, someone obviuosly got inspired by that article.

My very comment: caption should be "Why Give to the Ones Who Have Everything?" with opening script Mathew 25:29: "For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance (in the Warwick fairy castle). But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him" - so better donate to us "voluntarily"...

when i was a kid, i was occasionaly attend to baptism at conventions, and i remember that brothers who immerses candidates in the water, said: "right hand to nose, left hand to right hand, and i baptise you in the name of the father, son and holy spirit, amen".

i remeber that same mantra at my baptism too, back in the eighties.

but, some years ago, i was asked to help to move some props around baptism pool, so i attend to baptism after so many years - there was no "in the name of the..." part.

I know about baptismal questions changes, I reread that w85 article, and I browsed BOE-file.pdf period 1985-1990, but didn't find any instruction about words given at the moment of the immersion. I'm browsing "Kingdom Ministry" from 1985. onward, but I'm still pretty sure that words "I baptise you in the name of the father, son and holy spirit, amen" was present some years after 1985's change of baptismal vows.
