Confessing Sins to Elders for forgiveness, Can Elders Forgive Sins?

whose brain-child was this idea?
i would rather confess my sins to you because the elders are not known for keeping their mouths shut.

I think they use Matthew 18:18 to justify this.
“Truly I say to you, whatever things you may bind on earth will be things already bound in heaven, and whatever things you may loosen on earth will be things already loosened in heaven.
and James 5:14,15
Is there anyone sick among you? Let him call the elders of the congregation to him, and let them pray over him, applying oil to him in the name of Jehovah. And the prayer of faith will make the sick one well, and Jehovah will raise him up. Also, if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

on the other hand........... crisis of conscience, freeminds, the awaa, jw.net, ummmmmm........hmmm........idk six screens or something?

I don't think this is anything newer than the latest new understanding. This is how I understood the overlapping mumbo jumbo when it was released at the convention ... the lives of anointed would overlap ... they are just explaining what they already said a little better to try and emphasize the URGENCY cuz the overlapped generation is old too so don't slow down, the end is so very close!

a list of good movies/tv shows to get a JW to think
by nonjwspouse inones that have themes that come uncomfortabllly close to the cult dynamic.. i already got him to watch the obsolete man on twilight zone.
he sauggested watching some old tz again tonight so i wioll pick where is everybody, and escape clause.. i have heard oters say the movie truman show was a good movie as is the matrix ( though i detest violence).
any more suggestions for my personal handy dandy list?.

Unfortunately, JW's don't think until they are ready. I also watched the movies listed, they did nothing for my JW thinking while fully in. Once I "woke up" they resonated. I have since tried to use these tactics on my wife, so far no effect at all. That's just my experience, not necessarily the rule.

Yes, they would have a publisher card and the child is very likely enrolled in the Theocratic Ministry School.

I reviewed your posts.
Yes, this is a concern.
It appears the JW parent is active and successful in the indoctrination process.
You may not be able to prevent it, but you really need to by proactive in counteracting the indoctrination.
The JW parent believes the religion is the Truth and the only salvation available and will do all possible to help the child serve Jehovah. They believe the end is soon, very soon (yes, silly cuz they have said it for 100 years), and the parent will do all they can to bring the child into the Organization. They believe it is a matter of life and death.
