I found a copy of this book in my childs room at my home. I am not a JW but their other parent is.

Should I be concerned. The book looks like it has questions for baptism in it.

That book is given to children by the elders, when the child has passed the interrogation / test in order to be qualified to be counted as an "unbaptized publisher".

Elders are quite serious about that book's security - it is only given out if the person "qualifies" to go from door to door.

Sounds like you are now the parent of a new "unbaptized publisher".

Simple answer is YES. Be concerned .

The Governing body has been ramping up the rhetoric lately about JWs getting their young minor children
locked into the ORg at ever younger ages.

Ignoring the fact Jesus was 30 yrs old at his baptism .

    See this video

Why it is morally wrong for Jehovah's Witnesses to push baptism on children

    I reviewed your posts.

    Yes, this is a concern.

It appears the JW parent is active and successful in the indoctrination process.

You may not be able to prevent it, but you really need to by proactive in counteracting the indoctrination.

The JW parent believes the religion is the Truth and the only salvation available and will do all possible to help the child serve Jehovah. They believe the end is soon, very soon (yes, silly cuz they have said it for 100 years), and the parent will do all they can to bring the child into the Organization. They believe it is a matter of life and death.

If they are an upbaptised publisher would there be any records on file at the local Kingdom hall that captures their publishing work and if they are doing parts at the KM that I would be able to obtain.

Per my custody order I have have the right to access any religious records for my child.

Yes, they would have a publisher card and the child is very likely enrolled in the Theocratic Ministry School.

It likely depends on the law in the country (or state if in the USA) where you live, and the language used in your particular custody order.

But there are definitely written records with your child's name, address, phone number, and date of birth, along with how many "hours" he was active in the "ministry" each month.

Oh, and by the way, the last question in asked to be "qualified" to be an "unbaptized publisher" is "Do you really want to become one of Jehovah's Witnesses?" If the answer is anything other than "yes" they don't qualify and they don't get the book.

I don't know how old your child is, but if he/she is under the age of, oh, 15 or 16, there is a 99.9999% chance your ex-spouse was in the room while he was being questioned by the elders. Which of course almost certainly colored his/her answer to that last question to be something that he/she knew his/her parent wanted to hear.

Assuming you are in the USA, I suspect the Congregation/Organization would originally claim that these are "confidential" records. However, supposedly a "publsiher" can request to see (and perhaps request a copy) of their publisher card at any time to ascertain how they are progressing spiritually.

I would suspect that a request from a lawyer, and esp from a Court, would likely get you the copies you request.

It might not hurt to ask for those records. It will at least put the elders on notice that you are watching. Does your child open up to you about their spiritual ambitions?
