Realising the org cared more about outward appearance than people, followed by discovering the hypocrisy and false teachings.

Memorial.. To go or not to go
by Emily1987 inso, as some of you will know myself and my husband are in the process of fading.
haven't been to a meeting since beginning of 2017. .
we weren't planning on going to the memorial, but last week my mother broke down and said that we have to go to the memorial even if it's the only meeting i go to this year.

An old JW friend stopped in his car as he passed me walking through town yesterday. After the usual friendly pleasantries :
He: "Do you know what's on this Saturday?"
Me: "Yes"
He: " Will we see you there?"
Me: (firmly and decidedly) " No. I will not be going"
I know its far more difficult when dealing with family and the emotional repercussions that entails , but I have found that being determined and making it clear I will not compromise on my resolve and the issue is not open for discussion works for me.
That being said, I am always friendly and positive and its clear to anyone who speaks to me how genuinely happy I am with my life now.
I am one of the lucky ones who has managed to walk away with minimum damage.
My thoughts are with all those who still struggle with the guilt imposed on them by others.

When I joined this site 2 years ago I recognised a friend from their posts, so it is possible.
I have never breathed a word to anyone else, only that friend, but the knowledge that we can be recognised by our words was enough to prevent them from posting for a some time.
I felt responsible for limiting their freedom of speech for a while.
I am sorry, my friend x

It saddens me to know that marriages break up because of religion and the blame, whose fault it is ?
by smiddy3 ina jehovah`s witness couple who have been married for many years and some with children of various ages and have been serving in their congregation meeting attendance, fs and bible studies with their children for many years .. and then one of them begins to have doubts about what they are being taught and what they actually are supposed to believe now that some changes have been made with nu-lite.. the doubts grow and then the the use of the internet to investigate further some of the claims of the gb/wt religion .. with the wealth of information available on the www it now becomes impossible to continue to be an active member of the jehovah`s witness religion without being an utter hypocrite .
you no longer believe them anymore that they alone are gods chosen people in this day.. however your spouse does not see things the way you do not at all and after many months of arguments bickering threats the ultimatum is something like if you don`t believe what i believe that you have left jehovah we can`t live together anymore ,i want a divorce unless you come to your senses.. who is the one here breaking up the marriage ?.
isn`t it in the majority of cases the jw who ends the marriage ?

@ttdtt...
Yet if you try to post facts or personal experiences which cast WT in the slightest shadow, those that police JWTalk refuse to allow that post to be shown.
When I was a member of that forum, all my posts were vetted before they became public. No wonder the comments are, without exception, totally pro JW.

Is it 16?
by Jrjw inhi can anyone tell me if it's true the society says parents must take their child to meetings until they're 16 even if they don't want to?
my ex is being a pain about me not forcing my 12 year old to be a witness.
he doesn't know i'm becoming inactive at moment so i have to be careful how i word things to him.

While I was still in, my daughter stopped attending meetings at the age of 14.
A friend at the time told me I should just "force" her to come with me.
I replied that as a single mother, with my daughter the same height and weight as me, "forcing" her to go with me would entail physically holding her down, dressing her, taking hold of her and violently dragging her out of the house, into the car and into the kingdom hall.
Could he explain to me just how I should manage that, and how he considered any part of that scenario would be appropriate, ethical, Christian and not completely abusive?

This has been the first year I've bought presents for my children (now adult) and new grandson.
Giving to my family truly is a gift in itself and my lovely children are generous enough to not hold any grudges for the normal childhood pleasures they missed out on while growing up in such a restrictive environment.
I am thankful for every day that takes me further away from that religion and brings me closer to my children, as we see the beauty in the real life around us.
Feeling happy 😊
