My grandmother called my mother
by Anony Mous inso, i’m just posting this as a warning to lurking jws.
if you’re still on the fence, here is a story.. my grandmother, now in her 80s hasn’t talked to anyone in the family for over 20 years ever since my mother was the last one of her children that left ‘the truth’, she had sent my mother a card to never talk to her again.
so here we are 21 years later, she gets a call out of the blue that she needed help, she hadn’t been able to get into her kitchen.

What annoys me is when adult children ask the congregation to take care of their aged parents.
The Bible says it’s the responsibility of the children doesn’t it?
often brothers and sisters in Bethel or busy with some work for the org are told not to stop working for the org but instead ask the local congregation to look after their parents

Is there “new light” on 1914?
by wallsofjericho ini’m hearing paraphrasing like “we just don’t know” .
is this regarding 1914?
or micheal the arch angel?.

Scholar Are you serious or a troll? You genuinely still think Jerusalem was destroyed in 607? You think that 7 times prophecy for Nebuchadnezzar had a second fulfilment and can be made into 77 weeks or years and that pointed towards 1914 when the Bible was written? You actually believe that?
And because that prophecy pointed towards 1914 that was going to be the year that Jesus waited until to this year to be called Michael the archangel to finally battle with Satan and the demons and throw them out of heaven. Then using a totally random other obscure part of the Bible come up with three and a half years later which should be 1917/18 but let’s stretch it to 1919 and say this is the year that Jehovah chose his one true religion on earth? You genuinely believe all of the above? If so then you do not live up to the name you have chosen for yourself -

Is The GB Paranoid? And Should They Be?
by NotFormer inthe gb seems to have a bunker mentality, that they are special, and that the world is out to get them, so they tend to keep within their tightly controlled, protective environment.
bottlegate proved that there is some danger outside of the rarified atmosphere of their echo chamber; you never know when a camera might be trained on you, or that someone might recognise you as being something more than plain old "joe citizen".
further, tm3's new address was quickly found and distributed, and (as i understand it) someone drove to his gated community to tell the security guard that tm3's "ass is grass".

The GB do have access to the secret bunkers and a few others at the very top including some top financial supporters.
They all know it’s not true the JW doctrine and they also know it’s the best way to keep donations coming in to support their luxuries.
Not only luxuries like staying in hotels paid for by block booking regional conventions, flying first class paid for by donations, but also the reverence and respect they get from rank and file.
Everywhere they go they get treated like royalty. The best food the best gifts.

Thoughts on annual meeting “new light”
by FFGhost inso, i finally saw the annual meeting video part 2.. this is the one with the “new light” on who might survive armageddon, vs. those who do not.. in summary, for those of you fortunate enough not to have to sit through it, it’s something like this:.
old light: once the “great tribulation” starts, that’s it for non-jws.
the “door of the ark” is closed.
-
Mikejw
“They could have simply stated that non-JWs (whatever their status) could theoretically believe/repent and get saved after seeing proof that the WTS had been right all along (which even has legitimate Biblical precedents, “
This is what they basically said without putting so bluntly. They said in other words it’s ok to wait until the great tribulation starts then start to believe.
As has been said on Reddit you don’t want to waste time sitting on the ark when the flood may not come for a long time or may not come at all.
Br Jackson said the door of opportunity will be open until after the great tribulation clearly starts.
Most people are thinking like me, I don’t think the world will flood (or events JW predict) so why waste time sitting on the ark why not get on with your life now.
If we got it wrong and the events do start to happen like JWs say then the door is still open.

Charles Taze Russell & His Secret Mission To S. California That Killed Him
by West70 inthe last 5 months of charles taze russell's life was quite hectic, and according to reports in the watch tower magazine, russell's health was declining throughout.
in september, 1916, russell went on a convention train tour which lasted nearly the entire month.
this train tour included stops in several southern california locations around the 8th through the 12th.

It specifically about Russel but yes it’s true that secret societies like the Masons/ skull and bones do indeed have to make human sacrifices on certain dates.
We know for sure the secret society involvement in the early days and the symbology all over early publications.
The cross on a 33 degree angle on all the early watchtower publications. 33 is a key number as Jesus was 33 when he was killed. Supposedly anyway

Even with recent changes it’s a struggle to get people to attend
by hoser inthe kingdom hall is still empty.
even with amalgamation of 2 congregations.
the elders are handling the microphones and there was only one comment from zoom at the watchtower.

This is such an interesting but over simplified term if it is the truth or not. You could simply ask the question is the Bible the truth, is it Gods word or man’s. If you like me think there is a possibility that it is Gods word then what is the correct interpretation of it? Does anyone have the correct interpretation of it? Certainly not all of it, JWs are wrong about 1914 which is the basis for their most fundamental foundations.
The problem comes when someone challenges doctrine with another opinion about interpretation of scripture.
My view is I don’t think JWs are correct about much at all, but I can’t come up with a better interpretation myself or find anyone else on earth who has a better interpretation, I’m just certain JWs are wrong about 1914 foundations to their interpretation.
I will say though that I love the social club aspect of staying physically in mentally agnostic. Most JWs are trying their best to apply Christian principles and better themselves like with the fruits of the spirit.
It’s a very good social club to be in to be honest. I love all the changes recently and looking forward to the next ones.

So what happens next...
by Farmer Jim1 inwith what is arguably the biggest change to jw life in recent decades (the scrapping of publishers counting hours) what does this lead to?.
in my mind these are the results;.
1) a massive decrease in 'preaching hours'.

The gb has set up the org now that the average dub must be starting to feel less invested - black screens on zoom, ticking a box for reporting hours. Its turning into nothing more than a social club that watches videos while sporting the latest hipster beards.
Yes it is a social club sporting latest beards. There are no sacrifices nothing hard about being physically in. If you don’t want to go to social club meet ups then stay on zoom. If you feel like going to the meet ups then go right ahead, and talk more freely than ever before. Question everything and go back to re -examine everything you were told
