I didn't think they would preach a message of judgement? I thought the plan was to stop preaching before the GT?
Or is that old light?
and they start delivering their message of judgment?
what do you think will happen when they start knocking on doors and telling people that their families will be killed in armageddon because they did not believed in jehovah.
i'm curious how people will react.

i remember sitting on my daddy's lap and driving an imaginary car, i also remember sitting on my mummies lap on the front seat, without a seat belt whilst my dad drove a real car.
i remember we bought fish and chips from the chippy wrapped in yesterday's newspapers.
i remember bouncing up and down on my space hopper in the garden.
The strange things is, despite all the crap we used to get up to, I can't ever remember anyone getting even mildly hurt.
I remember bumps and bruises and having to get an ambulance once cos someone broke a leg*, but that was it and we did some daft stuff. Kids were made by tonka** in the 70s.
*Near my house we had some woods, bordering the woods was a dry beck and a cornfield. After the farmer cut the corn we used to pinch the hay and fill the beck with it. We used to then pretend we were Lee Majors in The Fall Guy and jump out of the tree and land in the piled up hay. A few 'I dare you's' later and we were jumping from 20ft up. It was all going swimmingly until one lad missed the hay pile ......
**Another 70s throwback :)
this really works.
i've already applied the basics of this with one elder who "offered" us a shepherding visit.
we've been totally ignored since!!!
Even easier to agree with everything they say and promise you'll try harder to get the meetings etc. Then just stop going.
But it's definitely a case of loose lips sink ships. Any hint of apostasy and they'll be on you like flies on shit.
so i finally am on windows 10. my computer kept asking me and i kept refusing, but then it went to a countdown and before i had a chance to stop it, it was updating, and i couldn't use my laptop for the full 1000 year reign of jesus christ.. when i finally could use it, i had a problem opening chrome with all my favourite apps or pages stored.
sometimes i have to open edge for for chrome to open.
but i have had a little go a edge.. edge has a different search engine to google, anyone know what it is?
Not really, it shows that MS have optimized things to make their own app as fast as possible. A 50Mb doc loaded from an SSD will be faster though and using any other app that doesn't pre-load itself will also be faster with an SSD.
Hard drives have no problem with continuous streaming of data like loading a movie - that is a great use-case for them. But for the type of access that happens with an internet cache, the mechanical nature and latency of a HDD makes them much slower than SSD.
Again, you're correct with all of that. A user who is routinely opening 50mb files, users like you and me will notice a benefit. Users like Kate, where she'll spend most of her time on here, youtube or one one of her many man-porn sites won't notice the difference.
The point I'm trying to get across isn't that SSD's aren't better than normal HDDs, they obviously are, in lots of scenarios, but for a lot of home users, due to the way they use their laptop, the benefit of larger storage will be greater than the slim increase in speed that they'll see with an SSD.

You need to do a test from cold, Office could have been pre-loaded at startup so it's in the PC's memory cache. MS don't mind making other apps slow to make theirs fast - it's their PC after all, not yours (well, they think).
I agree with all of that - but it also pretty much proves my point that in the daily real world use of a PC, the impact of SSDs, while definite, isn't earth shattering.Benchmarking things accurately is difficult. You can easily end up measuring the wrong thing if you don't know how things work at a lower level or how different apps have been optimized to 'cheat' in inflate their own scores.
Yes, RAM and paging file play a part too. It's important that a system is balanced to match the intended use.
came across this and found it rather interesting:.

it's always good to be able to identify when we may be exhibiting some of these behaviors or, hopefully more likely, to spot the behaviors in others and help avoid the impact they can have.
Mmmm...

The boot process and app loading is often most dramatic because it's almost completely constrained by disk loading. At the same time, it's actually the "best case" usage for older hard-drives - when your PC is up and running and disk access becomes more random, their performance gets even worse (vs loading large contiguous files).
When posts cross. ;)
And bear in mind when you haven't much RAM you may have large paging files. These are much better with SSDs, but better still to have more RAM.

re: the 20x thing, I have many apps that took 40 seconds + to boot on a 7200rpm HD that open in a couple of seconds on an SSD.
I've just done a real world test.
My work PC, i5, 16GB RAM normal HDD - outlook 2013 double click to app open in 9 seconds.
My work laptop, i5, 16GB RAM 1TB 6GBps SSD - outlook 2013 dbouble click to app open in 8 seconds.
Ok, not definitive as doesn't include add-ins etc, but in the real world that's the sort of diiference it makes. The biggest benefit you get is in bootup/resume from hibernation.
does anyone know anything about the luscious elaine?
is she a professional actress or just a member of the r&f recruited to be a member of the cast of this video?

Almost.
i was disfellowshipped three times in all and on every occasion fought to come back for reasons known to most here, family.. the second time, i steeled myself to attend the meeting for the announcement and one of the elders who had been on my committee concluded the meeting.. he asked me to conclude with prayer!
is that the quickest reinstatement on the planet?
"go, you are dead to me.
I was disfellowshipped three times in all....
Good effort!
