Got my JC cancelled... (at least for now)
by Sanchy inso my wife and i have been in the process of fading for a few months now as per my original post here.
about a week ago, i was browsing some ex-jw facebook groups when i saw a post that linked to the crisis of conscience book.
i said "f@(k it" and hit share on it.. a few hours later, i get a long text letter from my mom (who was a fb friend of mine) telling me the typical "good luck finding friends in the world" and how we have "nothing in common anymore"; basically, it was a 'farewell' text.

No - it's just irritation at people who create aliases with the sole intention of trolling. Haven't you got anything better to do?

I did it last night to one of your posts Slimboyfat. Then I refreshed the page to see if it had registered as 380 up votes lol.
I suspect your right wrist gets enough exercise without you having to resort to that.

Incredible cover of book published in 1932
by Truthexplorer inok, i am reading through the book the watchtower and the masons by fritz spring meier which i am finding a fascinating read; and discovered that judge rutherford published the book 'cause of death'.
what is incredible is the book cover.
the book was published in 1932 which would have been a little bit more eye catching back then.

In 1932, right after the Jehovah's Witness religion was founded in 1931, Rutherford published a series of 12 pamphlets (one each month). All 12 can be downloaded here:
http://wtarchive.svhelden.info/english/books-and-tracts/
The illustrations for all 12 pamphlets are done in the same style
What an excellent resource.

A senior colleague of mine was surprised I had once been a JW, stating it just did fit with how she viewed me. She virtually said, with open- mouthed incredulity, "How could you have ever believed that kind of religious bullshit?!" I simply said, "I was born into it and it was completely normal to me."
"Oh" was her one word reply
I dont think she fully comprehended how much children are at the mercy of what their parents say and do...at least until those children get older and - if they ever do - start questioning what they've been taught from the beginning of their lives.
I think the same goes for me. When you're young you trust your parents.
Don't cross the road without looking
Don't swing off the garage roof you'll hurt yourself
You must go to the meetings or you'll die at armageddon.
Plus you tend to asssociate with others who believe the same things which further reinforces it into a normality.

I tend to give a like if a post has been particularly informative or if I've learned something from it, or it's funny.
I don't generally bother with dislike.

So....let me get this straight. I can not do any work or business with or on a church
Is that the case? I'm sure I have known witnesses in the past do work for local churches. Joinery, roofing that sort of thing and nothing was said?

I've often thought there might be a market for "Erotic Tales at the Kingdom Hall" or "Confessions of a Naughty Pioneer"
Or 'Bonking in the Bethel'
