  It is time it changed - the JW safeguarding processes have been deplorable in the past. There is evidence that they are finally changing procedures.

  It all seems to happen at a local level though. The incident that brought me here after not giving them a thought for the last twenty years was a newspaper article about local elder who had been found guilty of having indecent images on his PC. But, as they say, today's newspaper is tomorrow's fish and chip paper and the incident will have been forgotten by the local people.

  Even though I'm an atheist, one of the fundamental rights a person has is a freedom to follow a religion of their choice and that includes those who want to be a JW. I have no desire to go to my still believing relatives and trash their religion even though I think it's a load of rubbish - it's up to them what they believe and I don't have the right to tell them not to.

  Lke a lot of religions they do need to look at safeguarding policies and hopefully the attention from the ARC and the UK CC will force change on them. This will happen out of the view of the general public though because the general public simply don't give a shit about a nothing religion.

  I find it amusing that those who were intolerant of other viewpoints as witnesses are sometimes just as intolerant of other viewponts when they become vehement ex-witnesses.

  Whatever we think about this, in the end, the WT will be made to pay. It may not be the justice system-heavenly or earthly, but humanity has had enough of this in even the most backward places. The times are a changing and they can't hide anymore and that is worth plenty, in my book.

  I think you give them too much credit. Humanity doesn't give be a shit about the JWs - thankfully they're insignificant. To everyone that isn't a witness or ex-witness they're a bunch of slighty odd but generally nice people who disturb them on a Sunday morning.

  If you asked 100 people if they had heard of the AR commission, I would be amazed if even one had.

  how long until wt has flip flopped its way back to anything of the faith many of us knew?

  who are the now dead ones giving evidence of their non captivity to babylon etc?

  i would not recognise what goes on in a kh now and i was in since 60s when we had firm beliefs, now being eroded little by little.

  consider this an update for those that remember me here.... when i left in 2006, it started a 10 year journey into a new phase.

  no more "safety".

  i had no doubts at all about the 'truth' untill a friend of mine in the cong' began falling away.

  in trying to help him i had to ask questions and do research and that of course cracked the doors of my mind open for the first time in over thirty years.. years ago, when jwd allowed members to have signatures, i used the following quote from voltaire as mine.

  i still love it.. doubt is uncomfortable, certainty is ridiculous..

  Sure, Richard gives the forum balance - his views are always slanted to show the Watchtower in the best light. He gives the facts but he doesn't always present them without bias, and he doesn't always give all the facts.

  Well it not like there's no bias the other way on here so maybe that's not a bad thing?

  I've got no love for JW org but being away from it for 20 years has left me ambivalent - you could say I'm an ex ex JW.

  And I didn't take your read on his post - simply read it as the case and money order is on hold due to the appeal hearing.

  ..... but since your post's clearly indicate that you see no problem with the way JW"s, the GB, etc handle child molesters why are you trying to detract one's from these ad's, and $4,000 a day payment.

  If you can point me to somewhere I've condoned child abuse or condoned the JW's handling of it I would be most grateful and I will humbly apologise.

  If you can't do that then I can only assume that you're extrapolating something from nothing and are just a little bit mental and you can be safely ignored.

  Internally rolling my eyes.. Get this

  a bit of an update, last weekend was my great grandmothers funeral, now, she was never a jw, and never was going to be, no matter how hard my mother, and grandmother tried to preach to her, she was the type of person that would kindly accept a wt or a book, but she wouldn't bother reading them.. anyways, she was a great wonderful and inspiring woman, the funeral was extremely sad, she had been a school teacher for over 35 years and a member of various clubs, so there were a lot of folks besides family that attended.. well, anyways i was there and so was my jw mother, stepfather, and grandmother, we were cordial, didn't talk about anything jw related because, it was great grandmothers funeral, not really a time to discuss how i am an evil sinner, or how i've escaped the org by avoiding df'ing, right?

  wrong, as i'm sitting waiting for the service to begin, a lady shows up, now- i have known this woman for a long time, apparently she baby sat me as a small child, (like i remember?

  ) so she isn't someone i was ever close with, but knew of her or when she was around would say hi to and make small talk.. to give you a tid-bit on her personality though, she is one of those crazy jw's.. she claims to have been possessed by a demon, very very wacky on the prophesies, or gb talks, etc.
