No Sports Cars Please!
by snugglebunny ini read on a jw forum that jw's came in for disapproval if they drove either sports cars or 2-door cars.
the reasoning was that a driver couldn't easily take fellow dubbies out preaching in such a vehicle.
was that ever official policy or just local nonsense from a grumpy po?.

Where does the money come from to operate the Hospital Information network?
by OrphanCrow inthe recent buzz that has hit the online communities concerning the watchtower society and their evil offspring - the jw org - revolves around their apparent financial difficulties.
many factors have been discussed - the real estate flips (and flops), the changes in meetings and field service, the need for donations to cover expenses, the push for donations.

Landy, have you read/researched back into Crow's past postings with copious amounts of links , bot net address links and WTBTS links to this influential "arm".
Maybe when you try to look into this your posing afterwards would be a bit different.Admittedly no, it may well be different now. When I was in, the HLC was just a few local elders who'd done a bit of boning up on blood substitutes.

There isn't a 'medical arm'. The HLC's are just a bunch of elders who are able to talk to doctors about the possibility of alternative treatments. That's it. They aren't paid for anything - the costs of dissemination of any information to them will be negligible. -

How will the Watchtower Cult end?
by WireRider insome announcement of sorts?.
there are all kinds of conspiracy theories.
their head count and time cards are all faked by the gb, and "congregations".

.... That said, I don't think they've done themselves any favours with this jw tv thing.
I saw it for the first time last week and was absolutely gobsmacked :)
When I was a kid growing up, the GB were held in awe, muttered about in hushed respectful tones.
That's been done away with with one roll of a video tape. It is staggeringly awful and I can only guess as to what today's JW teenagers think of Stephen Lett! :)

Have we become what we despise so much?
by Tenacious inthe majority of members who tend to join this forum have been hurt possibly even traumatized sometimes to the point of wanting to end their lives.
upon joining the forum, new members are welcomed with open arms, welcome messages start pouring in, "likes" are freely given, a false sense of security is promoted where a member is free to speak his mind without having to worry about the wt gestapo.
again, similar to how potential converts are welcomed and "love bombed" upon entering a kh for the first time.

I was disappointed to find that rather than offering support that would "heal" and allow the "caregiver" to "move on" and no longer need a support group, that the group/group leader was actually functioning to perpetuate all problems and so I quickly departed.

There's some wishful thinking goes on here.
They will have to adapt over the coming years, as all publishing companies have had to.
They will need to produce less paper as most distribution will be accomplished using electronic means. That may mean rethinking the headquarters size and staffing levels but, to paraphrase, reports of their demise are greatly exaggerated.
They may have a temporary cash flow issue due to a high spend on new headquarters but the amount of assets they have are staggering.

I get bored reading long diatribes such as the op so rarely finish them but from what i read and what i know of the witnesses it did seem like ficticious bollocks. I must be in the dog pack as well.
Makes a change from being in the dog house I spose :)

It amazes me...
by punkofnice in..to think about how the congregations actually function....even down to the individual level.. the biggest bully on the boe (or his wife), controls the show.. ones within the congregation are treated like they're dirt and still they return.
stockholm syndrome?.
i've heard ones say that 'jehovah(tm) will sort it all out.

There was a funny congregation near me that was run by an elder on a power trip (he was a DO, got DF then reinstated), they used to sit down to sing the songs, then stand up for the announcements - all most peculiar.
