question:.

i know we are not into end time dates anymore.however suppose you are in your.

l was wondering if others get the feeling that the world we live in seems not quite right.l can not pin point anything specific but since childhood days l often get the feeling something isn;t correct.you know the feeling of deja vu.

am l the only one to feel this way?ld love to hear from others and any storys they may have.having been raised in the jdubs maybe lm just suffering mild bouts of paranoia .

Not sure what it's like in other countries but in the UK as soon as it's recognised that there may be an issue there is a court order obtained and the child's best interests are served regardless of the parents' wishes.

Last Day of Chemo

today is the end of my son's 3 -1/2 year treatment for leukemia.

we had a small party at the hospital with nursing staff and a few friends.

it has been a great day with the exception of getting walking pnemonia from his sister.

When is a theory 'just a theory'?

the titles of cofty's excellent recent posts are all preceeded by the words "evolution is a fact...".

richard dawkins is encouraging people to use the term 'fact' in relation to evolution, especially when debating with creationists as the word 'theory' is confusing to many, and the latter often takes the discussion off on an often unproductive tangent.

TBH she should be sacked for her total ignorance of the meaning of the word Theory when used in a scientific conext just as she should be sacked if she teaches creationism as a viable alternative to evolution.

Do you think JWN members would be surprised if they got to know you in real life?

i don't think you'd recognise me much at all.

i'm a royal mail postman, i love my job for the early starts and midday finish, the outdoors and the exercise.. i get on with people but i'm quite insular and don't enjoy crowds.

i'm happiest when i've fired up the charcoal and i'm making souvlaki or adana kebabs for my family and a few close friends.

My experience with the people in my hall

i've been awake now for about 6 months i'd guess and a member here for a couple of weeks.

it's been eye opening to read other peoples experiences on here and i appreciate all of you.

i've noticed in many, seemingly most, of your comments that you were not treated well at your hall or you have had very negative experiences in the "org" so i thought i'd like to share mine.. in all my time as a jw i have to say for the most part i always loved the people.

The elders in our hall used to mainly fall into two categories; the 'big fish in a small pool' type, people who hadn't really achieved much in life, but by being an elder had the ability to wield power and judgement. The orher type were the arse lickers, the sycophantic type who would do the bidding of the alpha elders.

There were exceptions, a couple I can think of that were really nice people but they were generally the exception that proved the rule.

The rank and file witnesses were generally pretty nice people, no different from a subset of any people really.

If all the world were JWs....

in my former indoctrinated state, i used to yearn for a time when all the world would be jws.

but hang on minute, let's just think about what the world would be like if everyone was a jw,.

first of all, no higher education, so no medical advances, no scientific research, no modern day medicine, infectious disease rife, no doctors, no engineers, so no modern day comforts.

Hypocrites

get this my sister and her elder husband are visiting from over seas and are currently being groomed by bethel how to set a better example.they are being told how to behave right down to how to dress to set a proper christian example.anyway they are both over weight by a fair margin to be considered unhealthy.the clincher is this elder whom is over weight had the outright cheek to counsel my other sister whom is a j dub that she is over weight and needs to do something about it.

now hows that for hypocritical behaviour.prime example in any ones book dont you think???

If they're being groomed sounds like they're going to be sent somewhere special or are they already on a special assignment?
