  where, exactly, does the bible say that government(s) will turn on religion?

  i mean, other than interpreting some crazy visions/dreams from revelation as such?.

  with one megalomaniac leading the gop race for nomination to vie for president of the usa, i've noticed that paranoia has ratcheted up a notch or three.

  Having trump run for the presidency is an iq test for the american voter.

  So far it's not looking so good.

  I think it will take one of the next lot to get in to make everyone realise what a good and dignified president obama is.

  back in the pliocene epoch a volcano called sadiman erupted depositing a layer of ash across the landscape.

  some time later it rained at laetoli in modern day tanzania turning the ash into wet cement.

  birds and animals walked across the cement, then sadiman erupted again sealing the footprints under a second layer of ash.. fast-forward to 1976. a team of paleontologists led by mary leakey are searching for human origins on the serengeti plain when andrew hill ducks out the way of elephant dung being thrown at him by a colleague.

  There was a survey done on the members of the royal institute a few years ago, and iirc, it came out that about 8% believed in some sort of god. (Not necessarily theistic). Interestingly there were no biologists among them.

  I'll see if i can google it when i get near a pc.

  I'm not sure why theists feel the need to grasp the coattails of the odd (normally fruitloop) scientist who states a belief in God.

  If you compare the number of scientists that were believers in the nineteenth century to the number of believers now you will see a very sharp drop.

  I would hazard a guess to say that the next generation of scientists will contain no theists at all.

  i'm having an ongoing texting conversation with my mom right now on the march 23rd memorial date.

  she completely goes into cult mode.. me: why is the memorial on march 23rd this year and not april 22nd/23rd when the corresponding nissan 14 commences?

  since when did the organization stop following the jewish calendar for passover?.

  The JWs are right in this instance - it's a leap year in the jewish calendar but only the jewish observe the leap year.

  One question: When we were all "perfect witnesses", how did we feel about those "once a year" attenders? In my part of the world, they were always spoken of in a derisive and condemning way...so why become another source of negative gossip for them?

  We used to call them 'Submarines' as they surfaced once a year.

  That was my reason for not going to them in the early years of my stopping going.

  the big book of how to build a human - your genome - is approximately 3 billion letters long.. the text is arranged in long molecules of dna called chromosomes.

  each letter of code in a chromosome is joined to its compliment - a to t and c to g - and the whole string is arranged in the iconic double-helix shape discovered by watson and crick in 1953.. our chromosomes come in pairs, one from our father and one from our mother.

  • Another thing I remember now. It says when women reach 35 they begin to habitually conceal their age in online dating profiles. The reason they do this is because many/most men routinely filter out women over 35, but when they are "tricked" into meeting an older woman many men "settle" for the older woman in real life. It also said that women who conceal their age are much pickier than those who don't. Plus women unwittingly give away their own age when specifying which men they are interested in meeting. A woman who is interested in meeting men who are aged 40 to 55 for example are 99 times out of 100 aged at the starting end of the range themselves - about 40 - regardless of what they've said about their age elsewhere.

  in the u.s., three's company was not allowed.

  it was explained to me that it was an immoral show because a man and women lived together and no one was married.

  the sister who gave this observation was a family friend and we were newbies to the religion.. at least i somehow managed to watch the benny hill show undetected..

  The root of the issue isn't a belief in creationism or any of the other bible stories.

  When it comes down to it, it's a choice between rational, evidence based thinking vs superstition.
