Do we think it's a fake page then? If so the content seems very innocuous.

if the abused tell the eldera the elders should report it but if the accused tells the elders they enter into a legal area where they need legal advice and depending on the statutes of the law may not be able to report.
I'm not sure of law in the US, but in the UK the elders don't enjoy the clergy privilege of confidentiality.

My Story
by WeatherLover ini'm a 4th generation jw.
i started to realize it wasn't the truth over 2 years ago in late october/early november 2014. i don't know how exactly it happened.
i remember i had just heard about confirmation bias, and it hit me: i realized that i would be guilty of confirmation bias if i didn't look at the other side.

I am overly empathetic when it comes to not upsetting my family, I really can't stand the thought of bringing my mom to tears.
That's a nice quality. If possible try to avoid any confrontations with her. I think you'll find that once you start college the fade will happen naturally.
Also be careful talking to your aunt. She's not going to tell you anything you don't already know and she may feel that she has to approach your mother about it. Keep your cards close to your chest, don't get caught in what they term 'gross sin', and live your life. The rest will happen naturally.
Good luck.

We deserve to die
by elfgoblin inat the meeting today, we were reading the watchtower and this elder apologetically said to such a degree in regards to romans 5:12 that "we humans are not worthy of any mercy from jehovah.
we shouldn't even have free will because we can't possibly do anything good enough to please jehovah.
we don't even deserve life because of sin.

I've seen a few, younger crowd, as I do often, just looking up other stuff on my tablet while the meeting is going on.
I wish we had tablets and internet access when I was a teenager there - we had to make do with drawing semi rude pictures in the watchtower margins or reading the other articles in the awake.

If you had the power ....
by Landy in...would you choose to ban the jw religion?.
if you wouldn't ban them what, if any, changes would you force upon them?.

Donald Trump, is that you?
Not at all - there's a lot of people on here have been hurt by the WTS and I was curious as to what their thinking would be. It's nice to see a lot of the suggestions are reasonable.
For me, and as previously mentioned, I would go with suspending their charitable status until their safeguarding issues are sorted out and all in positions of authority are DBS checked and even given proper safeguarding training. I would also expand that safeguarding (somehow) to cover making it illegal to attempt to withhold life saving medical treatment for minors.
Child baptism also leaves me uncomfortable because of the possible consequences in that particular religion so there would be a minimum age of 18 for baptism.
And, when you're sat in your niftys at 9.30 on a Sunday morning munching on toast watching Star Trek and enjoying some peace while the rest are of the family are still snoring, if they knock on the door it should be entirely legal and reasonable to give them the mother of all wedgies before you send them on their way.

They are regulated to the extent they have virtually never been used in a crime or homicide since the Prohibition era.
To be fair, Americans seem to be managing quite well to kill other Americans without them.

I am giving everyone on the board...
by The Rebel ina new commadment to the posting guidelines.
we must love one another.. if i read the posting guidelines and saw the lurking presence of that new commadment " we must love one another" i would feel very uneasy about registering.
it sounds more like a threat than an expression of love.

I gave you the like - and tbh after reading it a third time I started to see what you're getting at (I think).
I've always been a big believer that it's fine not to see eye to eye with someone; to disagree with them and not particularly like them as a person. That's fine. That's life.
That doesn't mean that basic human decency shouldn't be present though. If someone I didn't particularly like, my mother in law for instance ;), turned up on my doorstep in need of help I hope I would do my best to help her, as she would do for me I hope.
