  Record producer dies in car accident

  record producer gus dudgeon and his wife sheila died in a car accident on july 21.. gus was the producer on elton john's highly successful 1970s albums, including a run of seven consecutive u.s. number one albums.

  he also produced some of john's 1980s work, including the album live in australia, with the 88-piece melbourne symphony orchestra.. gus also worked with the rolling stones, david bowie, xtc, and marriane faithful, among others.. gus's work with elton john was marked by a clean, wide-open sound that i personally found to be very involving.

  he has recently completed work on remasters of john's classic albums.
