Re: Music at Theocratic Events
by pixel inthis is a crappy letter from the watchtower.
i'm only posting it to show how micro-managers these fools are.
and at the end, they say: "we should avoid making specific rules about somewhat technical matters".

Very Offensive Statement Directed To JW Parents-Watchtower 4/15/2015 Page 11 Paragraph 9
by JW GoneBad inwt is insinuating, worse yet, blaming senior jw parents for there not being more younger brothers reaching out to be ministerial servants and elders.
page 11 paragraph 9 reads as follows: .
"elders in affluent lands may face an added challenge: how to motivate baptized brothers in their 20s or 30s to get involved in congregation activities.

I couldn't help but to give a snort of irritation when the footnote was read saying that if they were "mature" and met the "scriptural" qualifications then even teenage brothers could be appointed.
That is reassuring. After all if they are dunked at six, there is no reason they cant make MS by ten and elder by fifteen!
Dumb-asses!!
I guess the fifty years I spent on the hamster wheel just wasn't long enough, or my nose wasn't brown enough, or I didn't give enough green hand shakes or whatever the heII it was. Thank god I finally got smart and DISENGAGED and quit chasing the carrot!

Learners
by freemindfade inif you were at the watchtower how many times did you hear this idiotic condescending word?

For personal reasons I still attend. I noticed this condescending term and made mention of it to one of the now very elderly family members for whom I still attend (for the time being).
They could not believe that the WTB&T$ would use terms like that. So I showed them the article and then asked, "I wonder why the WT$ is making another layer of class distinction among the brothers?" They were as disgusted as I.

McKinney Texas pool party?
by Marvin Shilmer inso today i was asked my thoughts on the pool party incident in mcminney, texas.
my response: it shows a clash of expectations.
i saw police officers who expected citizens to listen to and follow instructions.

Oh and if you didn't know cops use hollow point bullets so their chances of killing someone with one shot is greatly increased.
That is a very common misconception held by people ignorant of bullet balistics, so your ignorance of facts will be excused.
Hollow points are used not to increase the "kill" ratio, but because they expand rapidly, thereby not going through and through. The majority of police, whom some of you seem to hate, and contrary to your beliefs, do not want to kill. And when they are forced into an armed confrontation where they have only thousandths of a second to make a shoot or not decision, they do not want bullets going through the CRIMINALS and injuring civilians, but to safely and quickly neutralize the threat to themselves and even YOU.

Most GBers, living a relatively cushy life, make it well into their 80's or 90's.
Can't remember exactly where but just recently I heard the comment that "humble elders will train younger men to fill their positions, and then modestly step aside.
I wonder how soon those old guys on the governing body will do what they told others to do? -

Now Even JW Men Are Going To Die At The Big A
by OneFingerSalute inso this weekend there was a part about not following jesus at a distance.
the speaker made a big point of stating that any baptized jw male who was not either appointed ms/elder, or at the very least "reaching out" actively, was in fact following jesus at a distance.
he said that the only way to live through the big a was to follow jesus closely.
-

if the GB stuck to the qualifications listed in the 1Tim 3 and Titus 1 then more 'would' qualify.
True enough. Actually there isn't a baptized male that wouldn't qualify IF those Bible qualifications alone were strictly, and consistently adhered too. It is the imperfect humans who go beyond what is written in their personal interpretations of those scriptures that twist them into something that many males will never meet.

But hey , raising kids ,doing the housework ,food shopping ,doing the clothes washing
It wasn't said in so many words, but they went on about the birds of the field and the lilies in one part with the very strong admonition to just do more in the serve us, more study, and Jehovah would do the rest. After all Jesus said God took care of the birds, and the flowers were clothed more impressively than Solomon. Then he said something that made me think WTF again. He said Jesus chose to give up his carpentry work and become Messiah. And here all along I thought he was prophesied to be the Messiah ahead of time, and not that he made that choice as a human. Silly me!

Did they actually say that anyone not "reaching out" was going to lose their salvation?
No, they didn't say, "If you don't reach out you lose your salvation." That would have been too obvious. The bro giving the part said that many loved Jesus but would not become his followers, choosing to follow him from a distance. He then went on about how some today love Jesus but follow from a distance. And then drew the comparison to "reaching out". I do wish I had his exact words recorded, but. . .
He said those who followed Jesus at a distance then lost the chance at life, and today those who do not follow Jesus closely, but rather at a distance also will lose out on everlasting life. Then he said that baptized males who held back from "reaching out" for MS/Elder were in effect loving Jesus, but following at a distance.
The inference was plain for anyone to see, unless they are blindly following the governing body.

I wish you had a recording of that manure.
I also wish I had what he said recorded. I just couldn't handle sitting there closely listening to everything, but when he said this I really perked up.
Of course I did manage to take a few brief notes as things were said that made me think WTF. I will try to share a few over the next few days either on this thread or others that I won't be hijacking by making those comments.
