In case you all wanted to know what is going on with Watchtower Lawsuits and the Millions they are paying now, here is a brief summary of current lawsuits.

Perhaps this will be the reason why thousands of Kingdom Halls are being sold and the constant begging for more money from the members.

There are so many, it's hard to know where to begin.

First, many cases are being settled that we will never hear about, because they never made it to a public court filing. It would be impossible to know the extent of these settlements because they always come with non-disclosure agreements. But rest assured, they are happening.

As for the litigation filed in civil courts, there's so many that it's difficult to keep up. This is especially true now that the New York Child Victims Act (CVA) 2-year window just closed- but not before a few dozen additional lawsuits were filed against Watchtower.

These will all take years to move through the judicial system, which is normal.

In Montana, Watchtower is now in settlement agreements in a major case- the Nunez case. That's a massive deal, since I'm sure most people know about the case and all the notoriety that came with it.

However there are 2 additional Montana cases happening right now involving multiple alleged elder-abusers and multiple victims. Those cases alone could cost Watchtower many millions for their negligence. Stay tuned.

In September, two elders will go to trial in Illinois for violating the mandatory reporter law on reporting child abuse. This is a ground-breaking case.

There are cases popping up everywhere, and these are not frivolous cases- they are founded on real events and facts, and Watchtower is being held responsible.

What I mentioned is just a small part of the cases we will be following very closely

QUESTION from one poster.

My question is one that asks for your opinion or perhaps for you to speculate a bit but here it goes.

WT lawyers see first hand how the deception, lies, withholding facts, stall tactics and so on are commonly used in court. These lawyers are also JW elders I assume, correct?

How on earth can they see this as "giving a good witness" and how can they expect anyone witnessing this behavior think that JW's have the truth?

In addition, how can these lawyers think that this behavior is honestly showing the "Christian personality?" I would expect to see a WT lawyer pull a "Barbara Anderson" at some point and exit the organization for conscience related reason.

I guess my question is, how do you think these elders/lawyers internalize their behavior and the effect this behavior has on Child abuse victims ? To put simply, how do they sleep at night?

This is a really great question, and I was just commenting on this on another person's question.

The JW Legal Department is managed by JW elders, of course. There's a special group of these JW lawyers handling the child abuse cases.

It's hard to say how they sleep at night. I talk about this with the attorneys who represent victims. The ones I work with are very moral and decent people who can't seem to understand why the JWs are doing what they are doing.

During one trial, a trial attorney turned to me and asked me "Why are they doing this??"

The answer is partly religious fervor- and the belief that God is backing them, and that they have the backing of the US Constitution. However they are learning that this is becoming more difficult every day.

Another thing to keep in mind is that while the Legal Department is managed by JW elders, they have FAR too many cases to handle them alone. Watchtower hires a large number of non-JW lawfirms in nearly every state to defend themselves in child abuse cases. This takes some of the pressure off the JW Legal department, but it comes at a very high price. It's taking its toll on the JW organization, as it should.

Please remember that the JWs believe that the confessional process is sacred, just like it is with the Catholic church. Read 1 Corinthians chapter 6. They believe their process is higher than secular laws. But they also use the Constitution and secular laws to their advantage whenever possible.

The problem is that we have a conflict now, where we have reporting laws, but we also have the clergy-confidentiality provisions, and the organization does not want to lose their power of confidentiality and the ability to handle judicial cases internally, including child abuse cases. They don't want to lose control of the whole process. They want to be able to disfellowship a baptized 14-year-old child if they believe the child was guilty of "willful participation" in sexual acts with an adult or even another child.

These are some of the issues in play. But yes- I am hoping we see a few Legal Department members wake up and leave. You never know...

i’m reservations, pimo elder.

i’m in no position to leave the organisation, maybe some people will see that as weak or whatever, but we have to all go down our own path in life.. i would like to be able to wake people up in my congregation, how do you think best to do this?

I would like to be able to wake people up in my congregation,

WHY?

They are happy believing what they do, otherwise they would have left a long time ago.

You only have one life to live---why waste it on trying to help people who are not asking for your help. Let them live their own life and you live your own life. If they want to wake up they will.

I was raised in the religion---born in. I left home at 18 and never looked back. I have a huge family of brothers, sisters, step-brothers, step sisters, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and all of them were Jehovah's Witnesses.

For years they shun me. I never tried to wake them up because they were happy.

You have to admit that there is a certain calming effect that believing in a paradise earth has on the majority of Jws. That calming effect keeps them content with life. They have no desire for anything else. Why would you want to take that away from them?

It's been about 12 years since I left the WT organization and my family.

Now about 90 percent of my family have all woken up. And I did absolutely NOTHING TO HELP THEM WAKE UP.

They did it all on their own.

No frustration, no walking around egg shells, no wasting time trying to help people who are content and happy in the WT religion.

Instead I helped myself by going to school and starting a business. I just started a few more different businesses and I'm going to be 31 years old soon. I could actually retire now but I love the game and I love working.

And as for my family that use to shun me? Now they invite me for just about everything. Now they ask me sincere questions about the Watchtower religion and the bible. And they listen carefully to what I say.

I couldn't have done this if I had wasted my time staying in the Organization so as to please my family, and wasted my time trying to help them wake up.

If you have a wife and kids then do what you have to do. But don't waste your life trying to help the rest of the congregation wake up.

more than 1 trillion dollars wasted and a huge deathtoll (both sides) afghanistan is back to where it started,.

Here is an interesting fact that makes many exjws wish that Jehovah was true and that he was going to wipe out nuclear bombs soon.

One bomb today could kill 2,800,000 INSTANTLY.

100 nuclear bombs could wipe out the United States population of 330 million INSTANTLY.

Considering that the USA population is not concentrated in just cities but spread out in farms also.

Russian arsenals which are bigger could be dropped over a city, and such a bomb like that can easily kill 500,000 people rapidly--in a matter of seconds. Several million more would die of radiation poisoning.

200 such bombs dropped over a range of cities and spread out farms would kill something like 100,000,000 people (out of about 300,000,000) and destroy almost all the infrastructure for energy (oil refineries, power grids,...) communications, transportation, manufacturing,... The resulting soot would probably cause cool dark weather, disrupting even what farming could be carried out without fuel, fertilizers, etc.

Radiation sickness would be widespread. Probably most of the people not killed in the initial strike would soon die.

Maybe bands of hunter-gatherers and small-scale cultivators would somehow survive. But it would be survival like millions of years ago----Cave men senerio.

This is one thing JWs are not concerned and lose sleep over. Because they believe with all their heart that Jehovah would never allow that to happen.

Yet he did allow it to happen in Japan.

Are Japanese people sub-creatures and we are not? And that's why Jehovah would never allow Nukes to hit America?

He was laughing and clearly just asked it to be antagonistic but my mom took it so seriously.

She, of course, got very defensive and explained the whole "Jehovah loves us and won't trick us" thing. My brother just kept pushing and asked, "What if he was lying?" This prompted the age old "Jehovah cannot lie. Just like no matter what we do we cannot fly, Jehovah cannot lie."

The last push was my brother asking, "What if he's lying about not being able to lie?" This just set off my mom into fear mongering mode and she basically threatened him with getting his "eyes picked out by ravens" for being rebellious and "saying bad things" about Jehovah.

A bit much for something that was clearly a joke, as I could tell from his incessant laughter that got harder with each antagonistic question. And her reaction was clearly what he was going for, up until the fear mongering part at least.

He's still clearly believes in Jehovah, which is understandable because its all he knows, but if he can realize that people can lie about not being liars and then apply that to God, then who knows when he gets older. He might view it as a joke now, but I'm sure his mind can connect the dots when he's older.

I was also skeptical about certain things when I was his age, and younger. Like I'd always think, why do we say everything *must* have a creator but Jehovah just *existed* forever before even making us. It was quite the mindfuck to just have accepted that this one entity existed just because while simultaneously being told that things cannot exist without a creator. I know both things are very simple conclusions anyone could come to, but it's quite impressive to me since the cult heavily ingrains in us that skepticism is basically apostasy, to the point where adults don't even like to entertain past a certain point of skepticism. If you're not satisfied by the first answer to your question and ask more, then you'll be looked at funny.

But look at me now, from a young skeptic to a filthy apostate lmao. I'm sure he's gonna be able to figure out Watchtower is bullshit eventually.

Note the FDA approval is provisional, they have to agree to do a ton of studies which won’t complete until 2027.

In El Paso TX, a city mostly Democratic, is now implementing a New Procedure that THE CDC IS TOTALLY AGAINST. And the FDA can't even come up with words to disapprove of this practice.

Why wasn’t O’Donnell charged with receiving stolen goods.

firstly i appreciate the work mark o’donnell does for the xjw community.

no doubt this has also been discussed numerous times before.

but with regard to those documents that were illegally stolen in that vice documentary.

there was never a question about why I had received these documents, and never a question about why someone removed them from congregations in Massachusetts and elsewhere.

They were concerned with the crimes contained within the elders' notes, which was the priority.

That's what Law and Justice is all about.

It's not about whether the documents were taken illegally or not. That's something a defense attorney would try to use, so as to try to get the "Guilty" free of charge.

Heinous crimes have been committed and the WT has covered up hundreds of crimes where adults Fuc*ed little children. Let that language sink in for a while.

A lot of those in leadership positions should go to prison for covering up such crimes.And the world should know that this organization has covered such crimes for decades.

This would push thousands if not millions of JWs to finally wake up.
