Elders will call round and ask if you are sorry if you say yes nothing will happen if you say no you could be DF’ed for 90 days

thats it, those are the only consequences of going against the direction. Worst could happen is DF’ed for 90days but no more shunning during those 90 days as families now talk to DF,ed ones.

A Positive Approach to discussing the changes - Gov Body Update Aftermath

so, just got off a very emotional, but positive call with my father.. this past weekend, he wanted to give me a call, but i was out of town at a wedding, so he said he'd call me later in the week.. he texted me the governing body update video with the recent changes and said, "i thought you might be interested in some of the changes that were just announced.".

i'm tired of self-censorship, so i decided to reply as truthfully and respectfully as i could.. my reply to him:.

The direction is all DF’ed ones should be contacted by family or friends.

Some may get contacted by several or even many family and friends.

I wonder if JW families are all talking about who is going to contact the DF’ed family members?

Yes the show is over. The JW cult is dead.

what is in place is a new JW lite. It’s a completely different thing altogether.

the difference is night and day.

I love this new one better because anything goes. The worst thing that could happen is that you get DF’ed for 90 days but family will not shun you and it almost certainly won’t come to 90 days DF’ed anyway.

It really is anything goes.

There is also less pressure on anyone who expresses doubts. Many seem to be asking questions about why all the changes and how could the GB have been wrong about all these things upto now?

i am sure we were all shocked at the governing body update #2 with the unusual and impulsive changes set forth.. i am an insider at whq, and when i was on reddit and in communication with avoidjw i explained to the best of my ability that the approach on disfellowshipping was going to change based on the new light at the 2023 agm, that the jubilee rumor was false, and there were going to be changes on how jws approached disfellowshipping in response to the norway situation if it didn't turn out in watchtower's favor.

the decision came because of a legal blow to watchtower, not because "holy spirit" wad directing a faithful slave, who is going to become the "evil slave", more explanation on this soon.. everything i stated came true.

i left reddit exjw community due to the immature and mentally unstable nature there, and yet as has been the case my words came true.

One thing is for sure, the JW world has become a lot more interesting even exciting place for everyone. Those physically out are wishing they were back in to be a part of it all😭

there is a lot of speculation about future things being permitted but really these latest changes kind of permit everything with only a worst case scenario a 90 ban (rest) and you are begged to come back.but most times it won’t even come to that if you say you are sorry

Smoking, drugs rock and roll. Yes sex, partying watching unsuitable entertainment it’s all gone into light touch category.

Light touch means maybe warning and maybe a visit if young person then parents just have to say they have it in hand. (Exact words in the new direction)

Imagine Elder 1 “so they slept together at the party?”

Parents “well they were drunk and high and apparently it was only a blow job but they can’t really remember, maybe a hand job”

Elder 1 “oh that reminds me I have to ask you have you got it in hand” if so nothing will happen

I suspect they wouldn’t need to go to meetings much if at all and have a rest from it during that 90days anyway.
The direction just basically says beg them to agree to be reinstated after the 90 days nothing about going to meetings during that 90days
the DF’ed person doesn’t even need to submit a written request - the elders chase after him/her after only 3 months and, it sounds like, in only the rarest of occasions would extend the DF period for longer.

Lawsuits for shunning for decades

now they suddenly examine the context of these scriptures and have come to the conclusion that it only applies to apostates and those who continue in serious sin???????.

there are families torn apart by their shunning policies and some have said the gb are wrong and these scriptures only apply to those carrying on in serious sin?

but no for the last several decades families have been ripped apart for lifelong shunning just because some don’t want to be jws anymore.. the lawsuits that are to come will not make up for life long relationships being ruined.

if i was an active jw, i would like to greet df jw's.. how do i know that they are not apostates or continue wrong lifestyle promotors?.

i would need this information, so were to get?

The message from the GB is clear: sleep around, steal, smoke, take drugs, be a total prick of a human being - thats fine, you could be re-instated in 90 days.

Everyone was directed to actually go and contact DFed ones. This is absolutely huge. It may have been decades since they last spoke. Of course they will ask how they are doing and about the family ect.
