I am a schizophrenic back in 1999, but the other way round. Two witnesses walked from home to home, I accepted their literature, and few weeks later, a Bible teacher came and visited my home. During the conversation, he suspected I had some forms of mental disorder. I was later diagnozed as Schizophrenia (and recently corrected to Schizoaffective Disorder). Nine months later, I was baptized.

Psychology - Articles: Mental health of Jehovah's Witnesses
by AndersonsInfo ini'm curious.
for the benefit of all, perhaps some who were psychology students in college and are posters on jwn (and anybody else for that matter) would like to comment on the somewhat controversial material i've posted here which was sent to my face book page.the short article below in english was originally in italian and is google translated.
in this recent article, the italian psychology student who wrote it points to an "... old article by john spencer (psychiatrist) published in the '75 british journal of psychiatry , titled '"the mental health of jehovah's witnesses,"' which, the author said, "speaks for itself.

Thank you to everyone for your comments. It is too much for me to swallow and reply one by one.
My mental state is not good as I was having difficult time to distingush hallucinations and delusions from demonic possessions.
The idolatry, because of family background of Eastern religion to bow down before Buddha in temples.
Semi-fornication, I'm sorry to mislead some of you, as it is simply my own definition to relate the act of masturbation solely by the opposite sex without a similar action in return. The original definition relates both parties playing each other genital organs. I have not into oral sex or sexual intercourse.

To wasblind: Your comment noted. How do you remain balance when the Holy Bible invites us to love Jehovah with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength?

How Did/Has the WTBTS Affected Your Social Skills?
by ABibleStudent ingood or bad?
how did/has the wtbts affected your social skills, social development, and/or how you interact with other people?
i have many questions about different social skills that i will ask either after other people post to this thread or to keep this thread active.

I don't even aware that my social skills was impaired or improved during the 5 years with them.
Partly because of the nature of my profession. Being a computer programmer, it is too common for us to be labelled as nerd.
Although I am still suspicious of and hostile to strangers, I believe it probably is because of my mental illness.

Hello all. I have been self-introducing few months ago, and were welcomed by many of you. Thanks!
Although I was disassociated, and committed serious sins* afterward, I am not fully disagree with everything the J.W. taught. After all, the organization that taught me about the Holy Bible was them. For example, I still attended the Lord's Evening Meal this year. I was thinking, "If I couldn't make it to attend Christian meetings twice weekly, why I couldn't attend for just one meeting annually?"
No ways back. Although the elders understand my mental condition, and shorten the probationary period accordingly, I still couldn't stand the atmosphere the shunning of communication from all members. In this regards, it seems like I am sitting on the fence.
* The serious sins include idolatry, semi-fornication, and rivalry.

by FlierMate ini don't know where to start.
hoping to find a place to ventilate my feelings of long period... language is a barrier as english is not my primary language, i will still give it a try.. baptized in 2000, the message they brought to me was the end of world that everyone were talking to at that eve of millennium... i believed and started reading my first book, my bible story, for consecutive 10 hours.
during the bible study, the bible instructor told me he suspected i had some form of mental disorder, and later was diagnosed as schizophrenia.

Thanks to everyone again, and your compliments about my English. Since there are many translations work done by Watchtower, I have benefited from this by studying the articles first in my mother tounge, then compared it with the English version. In that way, my English improved a lot.
To Listener: Yes, indeed. I agree that not every spiritual pathway leads to God. It is too common from people from rich countries to travel around the world, but for person like me, could not afford for a long trip, it only happened for business trip and all expenses were covered by my bosses. Thank you that you do like Malaysia.
To Anony Mous: When I quitted in 2006, they are still being forbidden by law. Once in a while, believers from other churches invite the Malays (born Islam) to their gathering... The next day it will become the headlines of newspapers, the persons in charge will also be questioned by the police, and I would better shut up now. Islam is mandatory for Malays. Other ethnics are free to have their own beliefs and religions.
To sizemik: I heard that New Zealand is the wonderful country to live in. I grew up by drinking milk produced from New Zealand. (I am not sure if "Fernleaf" is a NZ's brand.)
To umadevi: Surprised! For what reasons you disassociated? Yes, I am the only Christian in the family.
To mind blown: Thank you very much for your concern. Mental health is important, I will remember that, and be medication compliance.

I am still learning how to use this model of message board. It seems that I cannot make any direct replies.
Thanks to everyone of you.
To Broken Promises: Yes, it is referred as Oceania, or Asia Pacific . I used to watch Australian TV programme when I was young. Remember the "Beyond 2000" in the 1990s?
To Gayle: I really felt that the Watchtower publications keep emphasizing on 4 major things, that spiritual routines. Malaysia has only about 3,000 members, because of the large populated Islamist, J.W. is not allowed to approach them.
To Knowsnothing: I am sorry to confuse you in the first place. She is not a J.W., they are Christian from other church, and has nothing to do with Watchtower. I happened to be there because of my boss persuaded me to go, and that time I was not a J.W. anymore.

So, I am still on meds until today for schizophrenia, and carry a burden for betrayal to Jehovah and the whole brotherhood.
While I believe the Bible itself, I have some doubts that the Governing Body is heavily relates the prophecies in Revelations books to theirs in the modern days.
I could not trust Christianity as a whole, though. A anointed pastor from US came to Malaysia and was asked to cast out demons inside my body because they believed my mental disorder was caused by those wicked spirit... The ailment itself is simply natural because of inherited sin and not a supernatural ones. I did followed my pursuit on Buddhism, an Eastern religion but I was and am not a Buddha yet! (according to Buddhism, everyone has the chance to become a Buddha, in an awakening state)
I guess I would study Confucius and those ancient books from old China. While I believe the Bible itself, I just think like some of you have said, J.W. is just another _____(I forgot the exact word) of the end times...
