We Are Witnessing a New Enlightenment Age

good day, everyone.. i choose not to post much, but i enjoy lurking several times a day.

i haven't seen anyone remark on the growing trend of apostacy globally, specifically within the last year.

i mean apostacy that's not just among jws.

Excellent thread Dario, I agree.

This is different to other forms of enlightenment ie Crisis of conscience and other scandals the society has tried to cover up. The internet is something almost everyone uses everyday.

It is so much easier to get info now, I was only doing an innocent search on JWs when I came across this site and others - the internet got me out of the borg. Many others too will soon come across info even by accident and that will be the beggining for them too.

It is so true, there are so many in the last year that have left, very exciting times.

Like LG said 'a brick at a time' but nevertheless they are coming down!

I love that phrase 'cognitive dissonance' its the means by which we all eventually rescued ourselves. The wealth of info out there just makes it so much easier for that dissonance to come into play.

i'd rather not be more specific than that.. the english is poor, but the message is heart-wrenching.

any who question whether ordinary publishers wrestle with doubts need only read this message.

Thanks for this thread Cedars, we all get down from time to time. I personally come straight to JWN when something 'witless' related gets to me.

I hope you too find comfort from us as we do from you. Your empathy and kindness shines through in your posts and threads and makes me feel better.

Thankyou for being there for me in the past Cedars.

I agree that this is actually a positive message from this poor guy, it means hes acting on his cognitive dissonance.

Frustrated

sitting in the local cafe enjoying a coffee this morning when the witnessing group showed up.. before i had a chance to escape i was sharing my table with 2 'sisters'.

one was my best friend for years until i stopped going to meetings.

(such conditional friendships).. before i knew it i was being bombarded with questions like how i was going spiritually.

So true Cedars, you always see them judging you. They dont know it but you can see it in their face and eyes.

Yes Cantleave if youre DF they have control of the situation -they ignore you and pretend you dont exist. And if you hide your true feelings you are frustrated and cant tell them a thing in case you end up in a JC situation..... damned if you do damned if you dont.

Thanks Phizzy, yeah I do need to say something to at least stop them thinking I might come back.

I nearly said that I have some issues with 'some' doctrines but they are both knowledgable (WT wise) and will try and get it out of me so they can put me on the 'right track'. Say too much and their elder husbands will be round my house like a flash!

Its hard to remember that they are brainwashed like I was once. I get angry with them for being such fools, one of the sisters was a COs wife for years and I seriously wonder if she even experiences any cognitive dissonance especially as shes a born in.

Facebook Updates and Family Communication ... or a lack thereof

how would you feel if you just learned about an important family event from a facebook update and not directly from the family member themself?

how would you feel if you realized that in fact they had tried to call you (they didn't leave a message saying why they called because they wanted to tell you directly), but you never bothered to return their call?

my step-daughter recently got engaged and tried to call her brother to tell him.

Yeah similar situation here.

When my Nan died my Mum sent "shes gone" by text message. I just had to guess it was my Nan as she had been sick in hospital. Could have been the dog for all I knew. So kind and caring them 'witlessless!

I rang Mum and told her off for sending such an important message by SMS.

Six months later a very close family friend Ive known my whole life died and I found out in the supermarket by text message... Mum again! I totally lost it in the middle of the supermarket and my Hubby had to help me back to the car.

I seriously think there is something wrong with the social and emotional side of many JWs.

Arent you glad youre out??!!

As a fader I want to keep the relationship with my parents and siblings so I cant come out and say what I really think or I'd be DF.

I was dying to let loose and tell them it was all a load of BS, they are being lied to and wasting their lives.

Im lucky to have the support of my Husband in our leaving the borg but I get so frustrated when confronted with these brainwashed fools.

The woman who used to be my best friend and her elder husband are taking their 3 young children to a dangerous third world country (think child abduction and organ harvesting) to serve where the need is great. CRAZY!!

These people truly are brainwashed and we cant even try and get through to them for fear of being DF.

In case you wondered my family live interstate so its mainly phone contact with them and they never ask about my spirituality as they know Ive faded.

So its just the occasional witless who flags me down on the street now (they dont bother coming to my house).

Im interested to hear from all those poor frustrated people who cant totally let it all go because of family or friends they dont want to hurt. My sympathies are especially with those who have a partner in the 'troof'.

on average, how many highly trained bible students would you estimate existed in your kingdom hall?

to define this further, i am thinking of men or women who studied more than watchtower literature, spent time in libraries to dig deeper than most shallow minded drones.. how can someone be a baptized jw for forty five years and be stupid regarding "the trintiy, hell fire, first century culture, church father's teachings, rapture, heaven, reasons for defending the reliability of bible texts."?

could the watering down, diluted teachings be the problem with "new-gen's" impotent bible understanding or lack of understanding?.

The only ones impressing other JWs with their wisdom are those with good memories who can quote watchtower articles from 1987 word for word. A bit like EGGY. I never met one with personally discovered bible wisdom it is all quoted from JW literature. Brainwashing!!

the 8/15/12 report on the annual meeting contained very interesting information.

in october of 2011, guy pierce reported that plans were moving forward with the construction of the new headquarters complex in warwick and tuxedo.

he mentioned that after the project was finished in 4 years then the society would then sell off the brooklyn properties.

Maybe they just believe their own BS that the GT is round the corner and the world will soon be 'throwing their money on the streets'. So theyre cashing up now on the assets that may soon be worth nothing.

Im sure the brainwashed dubs make perfect sense out of it to themselves by thinking this way.

If you were a Witness, when did you realize the Governing Body was apostate?

for more than 30 years i believed everything that came from the watchtower society, especially since i lived at bethel for a while and i knew a lot of the gb members, who to me seemed intelligent and personable.

at the beginning, the emphasis was on the bible, the kingdom, jehovah and jesus.

but gradually over time, there would appear an elephant in the room that no one seemed to talk about, such as the change in the understanding of "generation.

Poor George, you really are a saint to keep going for your wife.

JCs where the elders just cant mind their own business and disfellowshipping breaking up families did it for me but took another decade to be 'preached' to by a workmate who has thoroughly researched Witlesses and told me some rather disturbing truths like about the UN and how 1914 cant be proved, then I came to JWN.....the rest is history.
