If they did take blood secretly then they have the blood of thousands of people on their hands who they have upheld the 'no blood even till death' doctrine on. Having said that Im sure some of them still would.

Wow what an exciting time for them and for you proud parents. These kids sound like theyre well on their way to success. I hope the wedding day is beautiful. Congratulations.
I wish my stupid dub parents bragged just once about their kids, just once! They were so wrapped up in the cult they didnt even notice us kids unless we mucked up then they worried about someone seeing or finding out. They are the same with their grandkids, organisation and friends number 1. Family at around number 5 on the importance scale.
Continue to feel proud of your kids and enjoy your family, things may not have turned out so well for you if you were still stuck in the org.

The real truth is that you know you've recovered when you stop caring about JW's
by gubberningbody init's perhaps sad, but perhaps a bit of wisdom to come to realize how insignificant jws really are.. .
you finally get to the point where you don't even care what happens to the borg one way or another.. .
this said after almost four years..

Although well into recovery I still have flare ups of anger, hurt or frustration at something that reminds me of my 37 years stuck in the cult.
You cant just turn off a lifetime of involvement in anything overnight. It used to BE my life.
I now follow the JWs beliefs in a positive way, Im still learning about ways the GB have scammed us, Im still learning to turn off my automatic reactions to situations. Many of us come here as we unlearn the JW way and learn to live life without it controlling us.
This site is an amazing support to many people, being here helps us see how far we have come and how good our lives are with this freedom we have away from the org.
As Flipper said, many of us have family still in, its good to keep educated on the direction the org takes and be ready to catch those who are ready to leave.
You might be an expert in the field of War or Homicide, it doesnt mean you like those things but with the information you learn you can help others and you find it interesting to study. Same us many of us ex-JWs who continue to research the org.
Its even more interesting to be involved with the JW religion from the outside than it ever was to be stuck inside.

Call centre operator. For some weird reason I quite like the job, it can get a bit repetitive at times though. I love the hours as it is a 24 hour centre we can get rostered on all kinds of hours which is fun. The company is very flexible so we can swap and moves shifts around. Good money too for a non skilled job.
I really need to get my butt into gear and do the university pre study to get into a nursing degree next year.

Am I seeing my JW life and exit in context?
by jemba inwhile visiting with a workmate the other day i got to thinking.
my friend has had the lowest of morals of anyone ive ever met.
she was an illegal drug manufacturer for 20 yrs, jailed 3 times, junkie for 17 years, has been a topless waitress, made porno movies and prostituted herself.

Thankyou Mindseye, Fernando and JWdaughter.
Yes I think youre right Mindseye, she sees a strict upbringing as being better than a life of crime and pain. We really were the two extremes of morality.
Maybe talking to her just reignited my anger in the whole cult thing and her lack of empathy for anyone in a cult situation made me think maybe I was feeling sorry for myself too much.
But as Fernando mentioned, you must keep moving on and not get stuck in the past.
Im extremely happy with my progress and we all get angry from time to time about the org.

While visiting with a workmate the other day I got to thinking.
My friend has had the lowest of morals of anyone Ive ever met. She was an illegal drug manufacturer for 20 yrs, jailed 3 times, junkie for 17 years, has been a topless waitress, made porno movies and prostituted herself. She has been at the lowest of the low. I was fascinated to hear her story and since leaving JWs I have been very careful not to judge anyone elses choices.
When she asked me about my past I told her about being born into the org, the huge control the GB have over JWs and that it was all a lie, I let her know I am very angry at the way the JWs raise kids in an environment of fear, judgement and ridiculous rules.
I dont believe I was too whingy about my life in the cult but she said; 'well whats so wrong with that'? 'Thats not a bad upbringing in my book, I dont think the mormons, seventh day adventists or exclusive brethren are so bad either, so what if you couldnt celebrate birthdays and xmas'. I explained how such a high control environment is damaging to people, especially children. My friend is one to speak her mind and is very opinionated (so am I).
Im not in the least bit hurt or upset at her view but it does make me wonder if sometimes we dwell too much on the past wrongdoings and mistakes (like being sucked into a cult). Am I and others on this site dragging this BS around with us for too long and not able to move on? Are we actually better off than my friend who made way bigger mistakes in her life?
What do you think? Am I and others here making too big a deal about the way we have been controlled and lied to for all our lives or will I still be resenting them in 20 yrs time?...( although I kinda faded yrs ago, I mentally left just 6 months ago after finding out TTATT I look forward to your views, Im finding it hard to put into words why this visit to my friend touched a nerve in me and somehow reignited my anger at the org.

A truly mind boggling experience
by Iamallcool ini dated someone earlier tonight and she looks pretty good, she invited me over to her home.
she has a very good salary(she has phd degree) but i do not understand why she chose to live in a white trash mobile home park.
i asked her how long she is going to live there, she said she just signed 2 year lease last month.

So what kind of home do you live in LLama?
Are you rich, educated and cute enough for her?
She sounds like quite the catch but ARE YOU?

Why do I even care!?
by Bells infor those of you who dont know my story here it is in a nutshell: im not a witness and never have been.
in fact i barely knew anything about witnesses (other than they come and knock on your door when youre trying to have a sleep in!
) until i met - and fell in love with - a boy at school who happened to be a witness.

Maybe your fiance is in a bit of denial.
I understand how you feel. A lot of us here are angry at the way the org treats its 'slaves'.
Some people who leave dont make much fuss or have much emotion about it.
Maybe he still believes in armageddon or that the org IS gods mouthpiece?
Its great that you care so much and come to this website in support of him.

The WTS and Same-Sex Marriage
by Quendi inwe all know the wts position on same-sex marriage, but i thought it was interesting to see this piece on its website.
i think what intrigues me the most is that the wts approach is, as i once told the elders on my judicial committee, "inadequate, incomplete and insufficient".
the peice then goes on to give the typical fairy-tale solution to what it perceives as a problem with the experience of someone they call "nathan" and how he was able to completely change thanks to god's holy spirit working on him.

Happy anniversary AK and partner.
I love Scullys comment. Imagine being a JW and realising there is no escaping the fact that you are gay. So many people like AK have been in that painful position knowing that the real them will never be accepted by the small minded org.
Losing friends and family because of your natural inclination. Such a lack of love and tolerance. JWs disgust me with their homophobia.
I know for my family its their excuse to be spiteful and spread hate with gods 'approval'.
So happy to catch you here AK you gorgeous girl. Stay with us.
Double the love from me....
