My JW mom is now willing to "listen" to our side...Need advice pls
by 2pink inmy husband and i (both born in jws with extended family all "in" except for one of my sisters who left when we did) left the church 5 years ago.
we did not fade, we just didn't believe it anymore, told our families so and left.
obviously, big drama in our family after this, messy feelings, etc.

There are some awesome points here. There are lots of points on blood for me like.... does God really want me to sacrifice my childs life for him by denying it a blood transfusion? Then the scriptures on blood where its clearly about eating blood, even then it is ok in dire circumstances and you just remain unclean for 7 days. What about donating blood? JWs are willing to take fractions but dont give back??

Id print out 3-5 questions you feel may get her attention, then have an answer there in the form of a few scriptures or JW literature, (its great how the WTBTS stuff things up for themselves). Saves arguing or getting stuck on one topic or her leaving and you thinking...'damn i should have said this or that'.
Suggest that she just look it up in private, maybe come back to discuss if she wants to.
Id probably tell her that these are the questions/contradictions that got you thinking.
This is my fantasy scenario that I get this chance with my parents.

Its only a matter of time somewhere soon in the world, when we least expect it the Extremist Muslims will strike again. Terrorists can be reduced with better screening when we let them into our countries especially boat loads of single males from the Middle east like here in Australia where they sit comfortably on unemployment benefits courtesy of the tax payers they so want to kill!!

Could it be that Jehovah is punishing me for leaving his religion?
by Julia Orwell ini know it's a completely absurd thing to say, but something happened to me today that triggered the old cult reaction.
my mind instantly lapsed back into that of a jw and for a split second i thought that because i wasn't doing jehovah things that jehovah's blessing had been removed from me and this is why my life seems to be running into so many dead-ends.
as a jw i attributed anything good happening to me to being the result of my being a good jw and dutifully doing everything the borg teaches.

Yes I get the old cult self-talk too. You are NOT a screw up Julia. Here in Australia jobs are hard to come by at the moment. Its happening to JWs too (job losses), we laugh and say they must be in Jahs bad books lol. Stay positive girl, you are a smart cookie. xx

About Human Birth- (Which I've just seen) First Child today

no problem with that.
they are mostly loving families but today i experianced the birth of my son.. the emotions of my wife... the pain... the fear... the hope combined with the joy of the birth and seeing my wife reaction when she held the baby was well balanced.. .

Congratulations on the birth of your first baby! The miracle of birth certainly doesnt make me believe in God more and doesnt change my view that there is probably a creator of some sort that has just walked away from his creations.
