by cedars ini'm just curious as to whether any of my fellow brits ever pondered how the society can be so stupid as to insist using the us drama tapes at uk conventions rather than having them re-recorded in a british accent?.
as all of us brits know, the convention drama is a subject of subdued derision among uk publishers - and i've been to many a party or social gathering where, at some point, somebody whose had a little too much coke re-enacts a scene from a drama mockingly (typically by gesturing wildly into the air and saying "jer-ho-vah gaaard!!
" in an over-the-top american accent).. what the society clearly doesn't understand is that the dramas really lose their emotional impact with british audiences when performed in an american accent by amateurs.

questions that defy JW logic No bible needed just a working brain
by thecrushed ineven before awakening from the mind control my mind would plague me with doctrine defying logic.
i'd like to share some of my self explanatory questions here.
every time i'd ask jw's these questions they would give me bs answers like we will have to wait on jehovah to tell us in the new system or some other lamo thinking stopper.

How is it that out of 100s of thousands of people in Noahs day the only ones deserving life just all happened to belong to the same family? Similarly today the JWs that are going to be saved exclusively at armageddon just happen to be mostly born-in and families. Wouldnt this mean they had some kind of advantage by birth to come to the 'right' religion.
Whenever a witless tried to understand this question they just couldnt get their head around what I was trying to say. Either dumb or didnt want to try and answer it.

But even the most inconsequential number of JWs left standing (like my parents) will just dust themselves off and keep preaching and teaching like nothing ever happened. All the while spouting crapology like 'the wide path to destruction, narrow road to everlasting life, easier to fit through the eye of a needle" etc. If they do decline rapidly that will be their def reasoning that "the end is upon us" and "the greater number has cooled off." Theyre so friggin brainwashed!

Ive known Bros and Sis who the BOE have agreed among themselves that "this one is nuts".
I once found the perfect house but it was next door to a bro who was very weird, so they advised me to go ahead and rent the house but just not let him or his (lovely) wife know that Id moved in. Well it didnt take long for them to see me over the fence and this lovely lady got very hurt, esp when i told her it was the elders who suggested i keep quiet as her husband wasnt well liked by the BOE. Knowing the elders in my area they wouldnt count him as a partaker if he did because they see him as mentally unstable. So I believe the numbers could be higher than reported. I wonder if there has been any letters to elders on what to do about the 'crazy' partakers.
In hindsight he just had social issues ie he came on very strong and wanted to be your best friend and you couldnt get rid of him. He also wore outlandish suits and clown/bowling shoes. These were just judgemental unloving elders who broke that poor sisters heart with that stupid reasoning. She died of a heart attack a few yrs later. I have felt guilty ever since for hurting their feelings esp as I didnt want to take the elders advice and just come clean and let them know i lived next door.

My DA letter ... comments?

moreover, we have not identified ourselves as jehovahs witness for about 5 years.
as such, we are informing the congregations that we have already disassociated from the jehovahs witness.. in this regards, we do not wish to be called on when the door to door service is performed either for monthly magazine campaigns, circuit/district assembly notices and memorial night flyers.

by FinchAndWeston inmy wife and i got a letter sent to me stating we are being called before a judical hearing to discuss allegations of apostasy!
we haven't gone to the meeting in 5 years.
are the jw's on a witchhunt lately?

Great letters Black Sheep and Oppostate. Im keeping them for further reference. Its true isnt it. Youre on youre own as a fader until you do one little 'worldly' thing and then youre under their radar - not to try and rescue the sheep but to crucify it.
Tommorow my little boy wants to march in the ANZAC day parade for fallen soldiers - he gets to represent a soldier who died almost 100 years ago for our freedom. He listened to the speech by a returned soldier from WWII and decided by himself that he would like to march. Of course Hubby and I have agreed but it has huge implications for us with the JWs. It will be in the local paper and school newsletter and probably the on the TV news, we live in a small town and the parade finishes in a local park where the caretaker is a JW. They will literally line up on his front lawn for photos. So this thread is perfect for our situation in coming weeks. I'd be happy to say 'to hell with them all' if not for my parents and siblings being 'in' still. Then when we get home we have a big 16th birthday planned for our other child. Wont the elders get a shock if they pop around unannounced like they usually do.

Thanks for the live link 'still thinking'. Im worried 'MsGrowinggirl' might be planning to blow us all up with that Islam result. lol. My top two religions are very interesting Reform Judaism and Sikhism and pretty close to my beliefs. Glad to see people having fun with it.

Thats a lovely story Fernando, pity more JWs didnt think of those around them more, its like they think they can buy their salvation.
A story that upsets me is about an overly zealous bro who was like family to me, who gave his whole retirement package and benefits to the society. His wife died last year, she was often ill and needed treatments she couldnt afford. They never took a holiday after his retirement 15 years ago and drove around in old bombs till they could no longer be repaired, spent hours each week in field circus and were so generous with the tiny pension they recieved from the government even after paying ever increasing rent. I know that no Witlesses ever helped them out because the Sister told me that after all they do for the cong nobody seems to care about them. They were the kind of people that would have felt guilty getting a lump sum and not handing it straight to 'Jehovah'. He was even the kind of guy that would collect clothes and furniture for those he thought were less fortunate than himself and distribute them, even though they had more income than himself.

30-minute Public Talk = More association ???
by Alfred init's been nearly 5 years since the letter was read at the end of the service meeting.
the society would lovingly decrease the public talk to a brief 30 minutes, eliminating the 15-minute doom-and-gloom introduction and thereby resulting in lower heating and air-conditioning costs allowing for more "association" after the meeting.... for those who still go to meetings... do you find that there is any more association with the 30-min public talk when compared to the former 45-min public talk?.

Our hall emptied pretty quickly when I was still going about a yr ago. I put it down to most of them not being able to stand the sight of each other. When youre made to associate with the same people a number of times week in week out....whats that scripture? 'familiarity breeds contempt"
