These days the mention of Ray Franz gets them all telling you chinese whispers.

Three dubs discussing him on field circus a few years ago described him as 'a violent man, started up his own religion, is a big believer in the trinity, has made himself a fortune - he left bethel for the money'.

I had no idea who he was but had the wrong impression that he was Fred Franz brother who left bethel of his own accord and caused big trouble for other bethelites ... wrong again! Im actually angry that they make up crap about a decent loving man who would have given you the shirt off his back and was treated like a mongrel dog by those he gave his life for.

The JWs are taught to be scared of apostates, DF and even inactive people so they can protect their BS doctrines and their $$ income.

Things you must avoid at all cost!!

i'd like to ask if you recall certain things you were forced to avoid or throw out because they were supposedly demonic, or connected with the occult, or even just plain bad.. i remember we were told to avoid the harry potter movies and books, because he is a magician.

also acdc music.. lol.. .

and oh yeah, during a talk an elder specifically mentioned the show "married with children", because it was a bad example of how a family should behave.

Easter eggs after easter that arent broken first. Eating them before or during easter is a terrible sin.

Poor JW kids not allowed to eat the evil cake when kids bring a birthday cake to school. Some parents brought cupcakes to put in the freezer in the school office for such occasions. WTF?... Whats the friggin difference?

Almost anything fantasy.

The dog foods the dubs suspected of having blood in. (In Australia at the moment its PAL) In the meantime the cat is in the backyard killing birds and licking up their blood.

Shops having a birthday sale. Shops having an anniversary sale ok though, make sure you eat some cake too, anniversary candles arent from demons only birthday candles.

Groups of singles hanging out together without a spiritual married couple to supervise.

Playing with worldly kids after school.

After school sports.

Using the words crap and hell.

Any soapie (too addictive)

Skirts above the knee.

Hitting the theme parks after the DC.

The simpsons.

Donating to charities

Going in free draws/competitions.

Shopping in op shops owned by churches.

Talking to the school counsellor about problems. (We have the elders who truly care about us)

And all of the above posts.

Basically trying to have any CONTROL over your own life.

Its been 2 wonderful years of no field circus.

And Sundays are awesome because I know all them suckers are sitting thru a mind numbing 2 hrs of shite, while I sleep in and go to the beach for a BBQ.

i did for a year.

i falsified reports, had fake rv's, told groups i was meeting up with other groups and went home just to show a presense.

i wasn't fading though, because of my situation i had to play like everything was fine.

i'd like others' thoughts on this development for me.. i was disfellowshipped seven years ago and made up my mind never to return some two years ago.

most witnesses have shunned me, of course, but there are some still in the organization who associate with me.

one of them lives in southern california and has never ceased supporting me in various ways.

Personally I think you should let him know your thoughts on the 'truth' before you set out. That way he is not in an awkward position if he still believes in all the BS from the WT. Give him time to digest that you are an 'apostate' first. Get those important questions answered before hand.

Then if he still goes with you which he probably will by the sounds of things, then its all out in the open and you can encourage him to get out.

Im so happy for you Q sounds like a blast!
