  on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

  a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.

  in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

  it's not only the jws who do door to door witnessing.

  the independent baptists for the most part have "soul winning", mainly door to door witnessing and leaving tracts, as a tennet of their faith.

  Vidiot, I actually laughed when I saw that image! 😸 I've often wanted to have that conversation with JWs at the door: that even if the early disciples actually did go door to door, there was no magazine that they were peddling.

  That they actually published that image is in reality a little disturbing. Do JWs really believe that there was a Bethel like factory, a scriptorium, that was churning out scrolls to be sold door to door?

  titch, an ankle length dress was "casual"? Was there some sort of reasoning like "Business women wear skirts below the knee, which makes them more formal"? Or was the elder just an idiot?

  are they allowed to?

  would they be counselled if the elders became aware?.

  Do you think that the hysterical beliefs were more likely to be held the further a JW was from any responsibility within the organisation? I.e. were the elders expected to keep a lid on it and maintain discipline, but they tolerated it within the ranks?

  I remember once being told by someone in my former church that Smurf means "demon" in Swedish (never mind that Peyo, the creator of the Smurfs, was Belgian!) 🙄

  Oh, and that Steven Spielberg once had a dream about a demon, and that demon became E. T. 🙄

  There are some very well drafted NDAs out there, that's for sure. And I suggest that those who are in the know, and could leak, are known, and therefore any leaks could be traced. And they've all signed NDAs anyway.

  So we may never find out. Of course, there's always the chance of a deathbed tell-all confession. It's unlikely. There are plenty of now deceased higher ups who could have published their memoirs posthumously, but didn't. It all comes down to that discussion we keep having, do they really believe the stuff they say they believe?

  When you were doing the door to door work, could you sympathise with the anxiety a lot of these posters seem to feel? If you had been able to discuss the issue freely with fellow JWs, without fear of being disfellowshipped or at least cautioned, do you think that those discussions would have looked very similar to these?

  It is somewhat strange that there have been no sightings of him, now that everyone knows where to look. Anyone vaguely local to him would be keeping their eyes peeled.

  I had to explain to my kids that Odlaw was Waldo backwards, and that it was called Where's Waldo in the USA.

  there're the obvious ones, like the smurfs.

  although why still escapes me.

  was it because of the magic, that they were "magical creatures", that there were wizards, etc?.

  Vidiot, in my old Pentecostal church in the 80s , there was a girl who "went" schizophrenic (the change was dramatic; she went from being a bit odd to being diagnosed with schizophrenia pretty well overnight). A friend of hers was helping her parents purge her bookshelf of all the books that were influencing all her spiritual fears. There were the predictable and well known ones, such as Pigs in the Parlor; A Practical Guide to Deliverance. It basically said that all people are influenced by demons in varying degrees and need to be delivered from them, that demons are in and around everything, harkening back to the similar WT fear of objects bought in garage sales.

  He Came to Set the Captives Free was her main go to tome. It was by the above mentioned "Doctor" Rebecca Brown, about witches and demons infiltrating the Christian church to render it ineffective. It was the main one that probably set her on the path to madness.

  I mentioned to the girl who was doing the library clean up a book I had had the misfortune of reading, Christian Set Yourself Free. It was in the vein of Pigs in the Parlor: a demon behind every bush, fear everything and everyone as a possible source of demonic contamination. She said she'd keep an eye out for it, and sure enough, she found it.

  I sometimes wonder if that girl would have succumbed to the eventual schizophrenia if she hadn't been stimulating herself with all those fear laden and fear inducing inputs.

  On a finishing note, for some reason the 70s and 80s was a very fearful time for parts of Christendom, including, it seems, the WT branch of it.

  Back to the cartoony whimsy: I just remembered Hong Kong Phooey. Surely, with its martial arts background, it was verboten! 😸🥷🥋
