"I think it would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that God is using"
Really? Name the other spokespeople, Geoffrey? π€
as portrayed in the convention videos this year about sergei (the fictional jw character in cold-war-era ussr), the jw leaders expect loyalty, even enduring imprisonment and/or death.
in one scene sergei was offered an early release from prison if he would sign a statement renouncing his religion.
well he refused and spent 5 years in prison as a result.

If the Jonie the JW Stripper song didn't get any JW backlash, I doubt that this will. They'll probably just roll their eyes and make a mental note along the lines of : "See! The World really does hate us!"
when i was a jw i did and still enjoy visiting old churches and cathedrals because of the history and amazing architecture of these wonderful old buildings.
a sister in my old congregation regaled us with a story of a visit to the tower of london and walking up this crowded narrow staircase only to discover it led to an old chapel.
the way she described her horror at almost entering you would have thought they were doing human sacrifices.
wunce_wuz: Pointing out the opulence of "Babylon the Great".
And never once feeling a pang of envy!
if a change in the blood policy happens, who will be more upset, jws or former jws?
i suspect the latter.
when the beard thing went down, jw's seem to immediately embrace it, whereas many former jw's have been brooding about it.. did it take away a pet gripe we had?.
People who leave often experience the stages of grief. I try never to judge the grieving process in others. Let them grieve in their own way, at their own pace, is my (ideal) approach.
the governing body are proud to announce... can you finish off the line for them - the more outrageous the better,, .
"We've opened a letter left by Judge Rutherford, not to be opened for one hundred years. It reads: 'It all started out as an April fool's joke, but it got a bit out of hand. Sorry about that!'"

"It's raining men! Hallelujah!"
many people say gb will soon dump blood doctrine to appear less fanatical.
others saying it is impossible for them to do that because of legal ramifications.
i think there is a way that could potentially be solution to those problems.
nowwhat?:
"If the blood policy was a sandwich.
"You may eat bacon
"You may eat lettuce
"Tomatoes are ok
But a BLT is absolutely forbidden!!!"
πΈπΈπΈ
Unfortunately, it's even worse than that! You can't eat the four major components of a BLT (bread, lettuce, tomato, bacon) separately either. But bacon fractions, tomato fractions, lettuce fractions and bread fractions are all allowed, and in any combination! Enjoy your tomato seeds smothered in bacon fat, WT! π
the jehovah's witnesses have lost their appeal to avoid investigation by a new zealand royal commission.
"a legal bid by the jehovah's witness church challenging a ruling by the royal commission of inquiry into abuse in care has been dismissed by the court of appeal.

I reckon that they'll appeal. They have much to lose and keeping out from under another inquiry benefits them*. You can't bet on a court result, generally, so their bet could pay off, should they decide to appeal.
The WT is trying very hard to strain out the gnat of the wording "in care". The royal commission has already decided that the WT is within its ambit. Even if the supreme court sides with the WT, what's to stop Parliament establishing an investigation specifically into CSA as handled by the WT?
I can't imagine the royal commission pussyfooting around, once they have the WT in their clutches. With the precedents from the ARC and Norway, this time around they'll be well informed and know what to look for.
As usual, the WT is playing the "religious freedom" card. Religions are afforded various freedoms by governments, but there is one freedom that they don't have: the freedom to handle and investigate criminal matters and to exclude government police and judicial processes.
*The upper management, of course.
busy with life .
but had to share this piece of stupidity.
flying freely over the evil world wide web i found this image from a recent gilead graduation festival (or whatever they call the crap feast now):.
Do they really now have a plane in their own livery? Is it a temporary advertising thing, sort of like you can have vinyl signage on your car? Whence this image?

the watchtower's nightmares have just began in france.
on april the 9th the french senate passed a new "anti-cult" law that will basically strengthen the hands of miviludes, the french agency, the official anti-cult agency that is cracking down on dangerous cults.
Human rights for me, but not for thee...
