RonW, I sincerely hope that that anecdote is one of those JW urban legends! 😱

Things JWs Say That Don't Mean What They Think It Means
by NotFormer insometimes things don't come across the way the speaker intended.. years ago there was an ad by the whitegoods company fisher and paykel.
they showed them going to great lengths to get customer feedback on what was important to them.
one customer said that she wanted it to be easy to get her appliances serviced when they broke down.

How to stirr up the poor into digital online business
by Gorb inhttps://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/watchtower-study-november-2023/hulda-reached-her-goal/.
what about this watchtower article?
in my jw time i felt not comfortable about this kind of "devine education".. poor sister works above her self to get a device.. jw.org hypocrisy for going full digital.. g..

That's an interesting point. In Rutherford's day, when the whole org was being weaponised into a door to door sales business, all the paperwork would have been literally on paper and would have needed an army of clerks to administer it. Hence the large Bethel presence and the farms to support them.
I imagine there has been resistance to downsizing by the old guard because they would remember the glory days of a huge Bethel workforce which is indeed, as you say, just not warranted these days. They would probably rather be surrounded by a large, bloated group of Yes Men, than a small but efficient one.
Do the farms still exist in any form?
I'd say that your thoughts on the matter are sound. If they thoroughly analysed where they want to be and the manpower requirement for that goal, a much smaller administrative staff would probably suffice. But the GB probably still hankers for the good old days...

I did once ask a surgeon about the HLC interfering with patients and he said that he basically doesn't let them get anywhere near his patients.

I've never been a JW. I recently had a procedure done where they asked me a couple of times if I was okay with blood should I need it. Of course I said yes. I wanted to sarcastically ask "Do I look like a Jehovah's Witness??" (my beard would've demonstrated otherwise) but I didn't because I was afraid even mentioning the term might confuse the nurse and she might think I was saying the opposite of what I was saying.

No more REPORTING field service!!!!!!!!!
by BoogerMan inthis is going to break the hearts of a lot of uber-jw's!
reddit has now removed the video link of samuel herd telling jw's they will no longer have to report time or placements - just tick a box which says "active.".

"Jeezus, it’s like they want the fakers, faders, and fence-sitters to fuck off."
It would probably be better for all parties if they did. The mental gymnastics of faking, fading and fence-sitting can't be good for mental health.

Real reasons behind this change?
by Gorb injust a good conversation at home about the hour report change.. we think the change was not impmemented because the gb are such a lovely bunch of old grandpa's having the best in mind for us individuals.. there will be only, and we say only, an organizational reason for it.
a legal reason, to protect jw.org and it's officials and wealth.. next step?
maybe selling more kh and when jw hollywood studio's in rampoo are ready a change to tv subscription.. what do you think?

"Maybe they've discovered how lucrative televangelism can be. Just keep listening to us and sending us your money and we'll give you all the tools you need to survive Armageddon"
I remember the old Hour of Power and similar shows offering a "free gift" for donations above a certain amount. It might be one of Robert Shuller's books, or some "inspirational" frippery with some "possibility thinking" message. If the GB started being less judgemental on the outside world and started writing more "inspirational" stuff (and got a charismatic front man), they could perhaps pull off something similar. If the sales tax issue doesn't stop them from doing it, that is.

Morley: "I suppose now they will really start to push people to be pioneers"
That is probably the only way to compensate for the backlash from this change. (If you ever believed that hours were important, that is!)

Did Anyone Have Fun With Their Field Service Reports?
by NotFormer innow that there is new light on reporting hours in field service, it's raised a few questions for me, who was never in the jws.
did any of you ever have fun with the field service report slips, by finding creative ways of reporting time without raising suspicions in those who oversaw the collection of those slips?.
also, can anyone upload an image of what the slips looked like, or point me to a post that gives uploaded examples of the sort of paperwork that was familiar to jws in good standing?.
