dropoffyourkeylee, That's an interesting observation, that changing the business model changes the skill set required to advance within that business model. I wonder what type of people they are now trying to advance within the system?

Thought on “0 hours” reporting
by FFGhost inso everyone knows the “big news” of this past weekend, no more reporting of hours, placements, return visits, etc.
beginning november 1, jws just tick a box indicating whether they “shared in any form of the ministry during the month”.. so there was a brief comment by a redditor that seems like a brief joke “throwaway comment” but after thinking about it….why not?.
the idea is, what is “any form of the ministry”?

No Blood Policy and some repercussions
by Listener inthank you atlantis for the emails that you send out to so many of us.
in one email that i received dated 21st october was a jw document title "information for patients requiring chemotherapy or surgery".
the organization never ceases to shock and i was disgusted with the information included in this document because it leads to their followers not getting the best medical care, not just because of their no blood policy but because of the other repercussions which they highlight in this information guide.. they begin by stating they are not giving medical advice, just information to help individuals make their own decisions.. point 7 states.

Whatever spin they are putting out there, they are practicing medicine!

Everyone gets a participation trophy 🏆😺!
Are they continually "lowering the bar" with a view to eventually allowing women to do certain tasks in the Kingdom Halls? Not that allowing women in is "lowering the bar", but the old chauvinists in the GB probably think so.

Waiting for November the 6th with bated breath! 🙄 Is there any likelihood that any of it could actually be a surprise and hasn't already been leaked?

by smoky21 ini haven't posted on here for years.

i have been a baptized witness for the last 30+ years, but have not attended meetings in the last 15 years.

NVR2L8, you probably should have mentioned to the surgical staff that you had relatives who could access your schedule and that you didn't want any confidential information on the surgery to be accessible by them. Perhaps your file should be flagged to make sure it can't be accessed without setting off some sort of alert.
We know from the September Watchtower, 1987 and other articles that the WT encourages loyal JWs to treat HIPAA and similar laws as mere suggestions and as not binding to a God-trained conscience.

Jehovah's Witness' bid to be excluded from abuse inquiry dismissed
by Tahoe inlink to article.
a legal bid by the jehovah's witness church to get out of being part of the royal commission of inquiry into abuse in care has been dismissed by the high court in wellington.. after nearly three years of behind-the-scenes legal wrangling to avoid scrutiny from the inquiry, the church applied for a judicial review in june.. at a hearing, held earlier this month it argued it was beyond the inquiry's scope because it did not operate institutions that cared for children or vulnerable people and the inquiry had uncovered no evidence of abuse in that context.. lawyers representing the inquiry argued that jehovah's witness elders - equivalent to ministers or pastors - exercised a level of control over the congregation that allowed them access to children.. the inquiry informed abuse survivors who gave evidence to the inquiry in relation to the jehovah's witnesses of the news this afternoon.. "we have received advice from the high court that none of the causes of action brought by the jehovah's witnesses has succeeded and the application for judicial review has been dismissed.
the judge's reasons are not yet available, but are expected in the near future," the email to survivors, seen by rnz, said.. the church was the only faith-based institution in the country to legally challenge its involvement in the inquiry, although it had attempted to challenge its status in other countries where similar inquiries have also been carried out.. the inquiry said, in a statement, that the dismissal "means the royal commission can continue to investigate the jehovah's witnesses, and all other faiths, in accordance with the pastoral care approach we have been applying since 2019".. "reasons for the high court's judgment are not yet available but are expected in the near future.

New Zealand just changed governments. I don't know what effect, if any, that might have on the inquiry.

It's kind of sad. They fought tooth and nail, under the banner of religious freedom, to retain the right to be utter arseholes. And yet, a bit of pressure and suddenly they're all a "kinder, gentler" high control organisation. 🙄 They're a pathetic shadow of their former nasty selves. Still nasty, just slightly less so. Kind of like beating the slaves three times a day, instead of five times as they did in the "good old days".

Journeyman, your suggestion isn't outside the realms of possibility. The GB may actually inching towards a "final message". You rightly point out the short term advantages of such a move.
I just don't see the current GB having the cojones to drop the big one like that. Even the giants of the old guard very quickly learnt the lesson of failed anticipation and quickly tired of whipping up short term end times enthusiasm.

Virgochik, the famous missionary, Dr Livingston, taught himself Latin while working on a weaving loom in Victorian England. Perhaps some loyal witnesses were able to give themselves a college level legal education from reading Awake between washing windows. 🙄

Vidiot: "…prolific door-to-door records aren’t really required anymore for tax-exemption…"
This is an interesting thought that could warrant further investigation, should anyone be arsed to do so (I certainly couldn't be!). Has the US equivalent of a charities commission, or the IRS, or both changed anything in this regard?
