  As an outsider, when I was first becoming aware of the aura surrounding Tony Morris, I was struggling with it a bit. To me, he looks like the stereotype of a kindly old man; even in the Bottlegate video, he comes across as a nice old man. Heck, he even looks like Mr. Merlin, for Pete's sake!

  Little did I realise that he may have been the old curmudgeon who was stopping the GB from lessening the beatings of the slaves. Just goes to show, looks can be deceiving!

  JW sign is the sacred cow being idolized by the JWs

  this video makes valid points and the last pictures in the video says it all imo...i knew witnesses who wore the logo in their jewelry.

  the sign represents the organization, so the organization is what is really being worshipped instead of god almighty.

  Interesting how much the JWs are using the JW.org symbol everywhere and on everything. Did a similar culture exist around the old Watchtower symbol? Did JWs have that symbol on ties, jewellery, bible covers, etc?

  Those seem to be the ones being speculated about. Aren't birthdays as a pagan festival pretty heavily ingrained within the JW mindset? So possibly less cosmetic than the other changes?

  The "last minute conversion" thing might be considered meatier, but it hasn't been confirmed yet by an official announcement.

  Relaxing the rules on clothing styles is arguably a foreseeable next step.

  Tertiary education is still seemingly being railed against, if that video of an elder being raked over the coals for his kid going to college is real.

  Somehow this makes me think of Cuba. In most countries, crimes are committed against the state or the crown. In Cuba, crimes are "against the Revolution".

  From what I've read here, no-one really fears "Jehovah" , but the "organisation" (spirit directed or otherwise 🙄). Is it a bit like those regimes, where everyone fears that midnight knock on the door? (I.e. being summoned by the elders?)

  on october 27, 2023, site plan approval was granted for new construction at the bethel facilities in the town of fishkill, new york, u.s.a. this approval from the town planning board means that work on the new fishkill support center of jehovah’s witnesses can begin immediately.

  What exactly is this building in Fishkill for? 50 odd acres across the road from Bethel, which recently downsized its staff. WT doesn't actually do or produce anything anymore; they don't print stuff for sale, nor do they have the farms. What are they building on such a large block? They're spending money like they still have some.

  Maintenance building? What are they maintaining? They don't have the giant printing factories anymore. Recreation centre? For whom? They're laying off Bethelites.

  As for the facility in Brazil: Why?

  It looks like he's being tried for breaching confidentiality laws within the medical realm. We all despise "Mary" for what she did in the September Watchtower article in 1987, where she accessed medical files and ratted on someone who attended her Kingdom Hall. It looks like Barry Young broke the NZ equivalent of HIPAA.

  It doesn't matter what side you are on, on any issue, there will be trolls. JW trolls, ex-JW trolls, never were and never will be JW trolls. Heck, even most hobby discussions online are full of trolls! Just be careful, stay hopeful and just sit back and enjoy the ride 🚕👍😺

  In case no-one realises it, New Zealand had an election in October and the party that was in government during the whole Covid thing is now in opposition.

  Talking about the Ardern government is old news. She resigned as PM a year or so out from the election, because she knew she would probably lose it, and presumably to give her party the chance to rebuild for it. They lost anyway. Not sure how much Labour's Covid policies contributed to the downfall, but I imagine they were a factor.

  the recent broad casts about not handing in time sheets, and then about beards, especially the beards, it seems so trivial, are those talks only released in order to distract the followers from the recent court case they lost on spain, from the csa cases, the kh sales and so on?.

  i reckon they're taking their lead from the media, distract and divide tactics..

  Vanderhoven7, you make a very good point. The major, gasp producing announcements from the people who claim to be God's earthly channel: a change in administrative paperwork and something about facial hair!

  I wonder what the next breathtaking announcement from the throne of Jehovah will be? 🙄
