That's a good point, Diogenesister. That the WT, by their own actions, have failed at every turn to live up to their profession of Christian faith and to demonstrate repentance of past sin.
And then they stand in judgement upon others... 🙄
hello all.. i need a quick answer, and also a solid reference in the literature, please.. if a jw marries an unbeliever, there is reproof, it's frowned upon, it's disloyal, there will be loss of privileges, etc, but there's no other more serious consequences.
but, in a scenario where two people are free to marry, but one is a baptized jw and the other is disfellowshipped / disassociated, what are the consequences?.
thanks for your help.. r..

i assume someone from wt attends the reading of the will.
an elder, a co, some especially selected person from the branch under whose purview this sort of thing is maintained?.
what is the procedure?.
Balaamsass2, It's a pity that "your" elder could get away with it under the letter of the law. "Legal" and "moral" aren't always the same thing...
study article 31.
“be steadfast, immovable”.
11 at times, we might reason that the direction jehovah gives us is not sufficient.
"Jesus did not tell us that his faithful slave would produce perfect spiritual food"
In fact, he never made any statement that alludes to what they're claiming for themselves, but "Carry On, Regardless!"
i now view jwlite like the trekkie conventions.
star trek is fiction and all the fans know this full well.
but they find it beneficial.
Interesting analogy. As somewhat of a Star Trek fan, I find the concept of a Star Trek convention more compelling than a JW convention. Would I ever go to either? Probably not. I can't sit through even one minute of a legitimate JW talk online, let alone sitting through hours of it.
As for standing around listening to an actor reminiscing about "that time I was playing 'Let's pretend'", I couldn't be arsed!
I went to an Amway EXPO once; does that count?

Marrying someone dfed is basically telegraphing your intention to ultimately leave the organisation, either PIMO or POMO. No PIMI would do so, surely? (Sorry about calling you "Shirley")
a home remodeling job in england that went wildly wrong:.
a builder who bludgeoned his client to death with a hammer in a row over her new extension has been jailed for at least 15 years for murder.. peter norgrove killed sharon gordon at her home on 20 july last year.. her daughter rhian brown said norgrove acted like a "wolf in sheep's clothing" after earning her trust at the church they attended in dudley.. wolverhampton crown court heard he led the jehovah's witness service the same night he killed mrs gordon.. he repeatedly lied to her about the work he was doing, which took 15 months instead of six weeks.. .
"he didn't have the experience to be doing the work he was doing," miss brown said.. "he took full payment for the extension in advance, which we believe to be more than £30,000.".
I imagine contracting with an elder, especially if you are a lowly congregant, is fraught with peril. The unwritten, unspoken rule that you don't actually have any legal recourse if things go pear-shaped must be always be at the back of one's mind in those situations.
As to the murder, let's not get distracted by the JW aspect of it. These cases happen from time to time but prove nothing except anecdotally. Such things can happen in any situation involving an unequal power dynamic.
It's upsetting to see anyone murdered (or otherwise abused) by someone they thought they could trust.

Balaamsass2, weren't you accused of being that elder in the "outing" thread? 😸😹
things got a bit lively after the agm leaks in october.
there was a lot of discussion going on on this board for a few months.
now that all the leaks have been more or less confirmed as policy, and we've had lively discussions at length concerning the changes, things seem to have slowed down here.. a few suggestions have been raised as to what might be the next changes, such as women being allowed to wear slacks (in the usa, anyway), decoupling from 1914 as an anchoring date and others.. so, what changes do you think will be announced this year?.
Does anyone think that they may ever change/retire the 1919 date? If 1914 is negotiable, then 1919, which is arguably attached to 1914, is also theoretically in play.
The trouble with 1919 is that it is fairly foundational; without it, they can't claim to be special.
But, if not in so many words, they're already saying that they're not special ("flawed human beings", "mistakes have been made"). But they still want the R&F to treat them as God's earthly channel, while they want governments to believe that they have no influence over JWs.
They've painted themselves into a bit of a corner.

"Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia", and "the WT never said anything about 607", will be the new refrain when it changes.
O'Brien, please do write down your anecdotes and share them with us! 🙏
eric wilson's video is worth a view.. https://youtu.be/iil4fryuczk?si=f566n0tdqgpqc2ok.
It certainly gives the lie to the idea that they are easing up on the slaves and becoming kinder and gentler. We thought, for just a moment, that they may be lightening up, if only a little.
When apparently it was really a lawyer's game of 4d chess going on, further weakening the ability of publishers to claim that they were just following orders and that the WT told them what to do.
We were under the impression that the non-reporting of publishers hours was some sort of side issue, but in reality, it may have been the most important move, in the long game, announced last year.
