The intrigue is palpable!
If you ever cross paths remember to use the correct sign and countersign:

on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.
The intrigue is palpable!

just wondering if the witnesses still go door to door.
once in a while i see them doing their cart work and my still in relatives talk about going out in cart work, never mention door to door.
i haven't had a knock on my door since probably 2 years before covid.
TxNVSue2023: "Not former the emphases has always been on the preaching work, not necessarily just the door to door method. The d2d is the most popular method, yes but it's never been the only method. During Covid witnesses still preached - it just went to letter writing."
I've had JWs bully me over the fact that going door to door is the living proof that they are Jehovah's chosen religion; the main distinctive, the life saving work. Isn't there even a Kingdom song that goes something like "House to house and door to door"? At least there is one decontextualised) verse that mentions Paul going house to house. There's no scriptural basis for a letter writing campaign.
IMO, stopping the door to door work was the day the GB collectively lost their trousers. Having dropped a doctrine that they leaned on so heavily, so easily, they might as well light up a smoke and call it a day!
i been reading quite a few experiences on reddit lately, and their seems to be a common theme coming up….
…dialed-up-to-eleven shunning of xjws by their witness relatives.. it reminds me of back in the day, listening to some of the over-the-top vitriol displayed by hard-core loyalists when the topic of evolution or apostates came up….
…i was gobsmacked when i finally realized these guys weren’t offended and indignant because they thought it was lies….
"...maybe someone ought to remind the GB that going around jabbing folks with a stick until one of ‘em finally gives you a black eye doesn’t make you “persecuted”.
It just makes you an asshole."
You've said that before; a great observation! 💯 I hope I can remember it verbatim, should the local JWs ever venture back to my door...
I'll try to be kinder this time, I promise! 🤞
an interesting video was on youtube with a person claiming that the memorial date for 2024 was wrong.
so i consulted three different jewish calendars online and sure enough, he appears to be right.
i went back to 2014 and forward to 2027. they have the future dates listed.
It's one of those straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel things. They place great store in getting the right date, for an event in which no-one participates. It's like turning up to a football match; the referee puts the ball on the field, and no players turn up. 90 minutes later, everyone goes home.
They could always go with: the Jews are no longer Jehovah's representatives on Earth; why would they be more correct than his true channel?

"ten bucks says householders like you are the reason the Org’s phasing out the door-to-door work faster than you can say “knock, knock"
I always enjoy a robust conversation on the doorstep. I'm usually more congenial. As I said, I wasn't well on the day.

Yeah, Vidiot, not my proudest moment. I seem to remember having been quite unwell (not in any contagious way) on the day, so I wasn't particularly patient with them. Also, IIRC, I was probably still a bit shellshocked after finding out that they stopped going door to door during you-know-what. It's a bit like the Catholic church suddenly saying Peter wasn't the first pope. Door to door was THE proof that they were God's true religion, right up until it wasn't.
Your instinct to always follow the money and their charitable status is probably at play here. Door to door work doesn't bring in any money any more, so it doesn't matter.
Which begs the question, if the door to door work doesn't matter, what does?
in the latest study article 51: enjoy a hope without disappointment, we're treated with a paragraph describing the previous president of the watchtower, frederick franz, as an example of a 'brother' who cherishes the hope of his heavenly appointment.
we are further treated with a picture of this man meant certainly to evoke a sense of reverence for him (and by extension the organizations' leadership).
the watchtower is very purposeful in how it frames any point it makes in its published work.
My understanding is that the blood doctrine was Franz's hobby horse. Rutherford wouldn't contemplate it (perhaps he needed transfusions late in life). Knorr allowed it as a favour to his young protege/sidekick/yes man. (Don't ask for sources; it's a vague memory of a discussion that was probably on here)
An apology would be an admission of wrongdoing, and as we know, they never do anything wrong 🙄(especially in areas that have legal repercussions).

I had a couple knock on our door about April (March?) last year. I blasted them about how they stopped doing the door to door work during the lockdowns, due to the directive from "your cowardly Governing Body" (I also slipped in a reference to the UN). "But it was a government mandate!" "You've defied those before!" She conceded "Yes, we have" and they excused themselves to keep going.
I haven't had any visits since.
There are people in town with a trolley occasionally, but they don't ever look approachable, so I don't bother even trying to talk to them. I hear they aren't up for robust discussion these days anyway.
in rutherford's day, it was absolute.
knorr and franz had strong influence, even though the gb had voted themselves into a role of significance.
being a corporation, the wt will still have a president.
Some names I remember from back in the day: Milton Henschel (was he president or GB?). Also Don Adams (everyone was amused by this; Get Smart references abounded).
