MeanMrMustard: "It feels like there is a thread about the inaccuracy of the memorial date every year.."
It's almost as if they have a memorial every year*.
*And like everything else, they misrepresent it. 🙄
an interesting video was on youtube with a person claiming that the memorial date for 2024 was wrong.
so i consulted three different jewish calendars online and sure enough, he appears to be right.
i went back to 2014 and forward to 2027. they have the future dates listed.

just wondering if the witnesses still go door to door.
once in a while i see them doing their cart work and my still in relatives talk about going out in cart work, never mention door to door.
i haven't had a knock on my door since probably 2 years before covid.
Do those letters allow you to contact them back, presumably to arrange a "free" bible study? If you did, and had them over for a discussion, would they pull the old "I'm not here for a debate" schtick?
i been reading quite a few experiences on reddit lately, and their seems to be a common theme coming up….
…dialed-up-to-eleven shunning of xjws by their witness relatives.. it reminds me of back in the day, listening to some of the over-the-top vitriol displayed by hard-core loyalists when the topic of evolution or apostates came up….
…i was gobsmacked when i finally realized these guys weren’t offended and indignant because they thought it was lies….
"What they fail to understand is that shunning me is a gift.🎁"
Like throwing Brer Rabbit in the briar patch. They think they are harming you, but it's exactly what you want!

The case is based on files stolen from several congregations? Perhaps the authorities should start realising what's going on here and start getting proper warrants to do legally what so far has been done illegally.
As for that "elder": two girls under six??? And he's complaining?
i've seen people say something along the lines that the authorities would like to/have been trying to subpoena (members of) the gb (in csa cases).
my question is: why don't they?
if the gb are issuing orders to cover up evidence in csa cases, and otherwise interfere in justice being served in those cases, then they are accessories before (and after) the fact, and theoretically can be arrested and charged as such.
Freedom of religion wouldn't protect someone from being prosecuted for human sacrifice. Covering up CSA is still a criminal act that shouldn't be able to hide behind the 1st amendment. What is needed is for attorneys general to start looking behind the "veil" of religious freedom. A company formed to break a contract would have the corporate veil lifted or pierced by the court. I suggested in another thread that perhaps there needs to be a similar principle in criminal cases where the perpetrators are hiding behind the right to practice their religion.
But you're right, Lee, this is about establishing precedent, and we (and the current GB) may be all dead before any real strides are made in this area.
on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.
"22 February 2024 today, a year on.
"Maybe we should remember him each year, TOMO's Day."
A rousing chorus of "Happy Birthday To You" is in order.

harrisburg – after the commonwealth court of pennsylvania dismissed a petition from a group of jehovah’s witnesses nearly two years ago, which argued the confidentiality of their confessions shielded them from being mandatory reporters of child abuse, the supreme court of pennsylvania overruled their colleagues and decided the commonwealth court must re-examine the action.. in a 24-page memorandum opinion authored by state supreme court chief justice debra todd and handed down feb. 13, the court found that their commonwealth court contemporaries violated the coordinate jurisdiction rule – which states “judges of coordinate jurisdiction sitting in the same case should not overrule each other’s decisions” – by its initial pair of separate findings that ivy hill congregation of jehovah’s witnesses did not have proper standing against the commonwealth’s department of human services, and that a grant of declaratory relief would not terminate the legal controversy.. todd was joined in the opinion by supreme court of pennsylvania justices christine donohue, kevin m. dougherty, david n. wecht and sallie updyke mundy.
justices p. kevin brobson and daniel mccaffery did not participate in the consideration or decision of this matter.. “appellant is a congregation of approximately 140 individuals in philadelphia, pennsylvania, who follow the tenets of the jehovah’s witnesses religion.
In corporate law there is the concept of lifting or piercing the corporate veil, where a court will decide that the company structure is being used to escape the consequences of a contract or other agreement.
It's a pity that there's no equivalent in criminal law of lifting the religious veil, where the courts can rule that an entity is pretending to be a religion to cover up criminal activity. And IMO, giving cover to paedophiles under the two witnesses rule is criminal activity. Aiding and abetting, accessories after the fact, call it what you will.

I would like to qualify that I was never rude or nasty (unless that's how they chose to interact first). I would say that my approach can be a little "intense" at times. 😇🤥😵
And I always make it about the GB, not them personally. Hence "your cowardly Governing Body".
LV101: "Why they'd need to worry about losing any tax exemptions is slim -- they jump to authoritative demand"
They used to be recklessly fearless. Rutherford went to jail for his agitation. Knorr happily sent young men like Terry to jail rather than allow a civilian work in lieu compromise over the draft.
Now, the slightest whiff of government resistance and they fold like a seven high poker hand. 🙄
