While I'll cheerfully categorise them as callous and ruthless, "murderous" isn't an adjective that immediately springs to mind. Even those at the top who have been disgraced have generally lived out a long life.
But perhaps things are changing... 😮
on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

how will history treat joseph rutherford?.
like ben gorden has said, it would depend on who’s looking back.
How will history remember him? If the Google Gemini app has anything to do with it, he'll probably be remembered as African American or Asian. 😱
I prefer to remember him as a caricature of W.C. Fields.
yesterday while shopping i had an interesting experience.
there was an older woman ahead of me at the check out who was dressed in all black, including her stockings and shoes.
in fact i thought that she might be a sister, as i've seen nuns at my wife's church dressed in similar fashion.. as i waited my turn to pay for my purchases, she was engaged in conversation with the cashier and gave him a business card as she was leaving.
You mistook her for a nun? That's a new one. I thought they were trending away from rigidly conservative dress styles.
But not necessarily like this: https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5386998475390976/theocratic-dressing-standard
just ran across a mention of jws on a '70's monty python sketch.. at about the 1:05 mark:.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiba_3ak0hg.
Also mentioned by Spike Milligan:
an interesting video was on youtube with a person claiming that the memorial date for 2024 was wrong.
so i consulted three different jewish calendars online and sure enough, he appears to be right.
i went back to 2014 and forward to 2027. they have the future dates listed.
MeanMrMustard: "It feels like there is a thread about the inaccuracy of the memorial date every year.."
It's almost as if they have a memorial every year*.
*And like everything else, they misrepresent it. 🙄
just wondering if the witnesses still go door to door.
once in a while i see them doing their cart work and my still in relatives talk about going out in cart work, never mention door to door.
i haven't had a knock on my door since probably 2 years before covid.
Do those letters allow you to contact them back, presumably to arrange a "free" bible study? If you did, and had them over for a discussion, would they pull the old "I'm not here for a debate" schtick?
i been reading quite a few experiences on reddit lately, and their seems to be a common theme coming up….
…dialed-up-to-eleven shunning of xjws by their witness relatives.. it reminds me of back in the day, listening to some of the over-the-top vitriol displayed by hard-core loyalists when the topic of evolution or apostates came up….
…i was gobsmacked when i finally realized these guys weren’t offended and indignant because they thought it was lies….
"What they fail to understand is that shunning me is a gift.🎁"
Like throwing Brer Rabbit in the briar patch. They think they are harming you, but it's exactly what you want!

The case is based on files stolen from several congregations? Perhaps the authorities should start realising what's going on here and start getting proper warrants to do legally what so far has been done illegally.
As for that "elder": two girls under six??? And he's complaining?
i've seen people say something along the lines that the authorities would like to/have been trying to subpoena (members of) the gb (in csa cases).
my question is: why don't they?
if the gb are issuing orders to cover up evidence in csa cases, and otherwise interfere in justice being served in those cases, then they are accessories before (and after) the fact, and theoretically can be arrested and charged as such.
Freedom of religion wouldn't protect someone from being prosecuted for human sacrifice. Covering up CSA is still a criminal act that shouldn't be able to hide behind the 1st amendment. What is needed is for attorneys general to start looking behind the "veil" of religious freedom. A company formed to break a contract would have the corporate veil lifted or pierced by the court. I suggested in another thread that perhaps there needs to be a similar principle in criminal cases where the perpetrators are hiding behind the right to practice their religion.
But you're right, Lee, this is about establishing precedent, and we (and the current GB) may be all dead before any real strides are made in this area.

"22 February 2024 today, a year on.
"Maybe we should remember him each year, TOMO's Day."
A rousing chorus of "Happy Birthday To You" is in order.
