You're not an apostate, you're a very naughty boy! 🤣

#1. i have to start off this post by saying i am not intending to insult or offend.
these are just our observations over our entire lives in the org.
I agree with Phizzy about using their terminology; I don't. I refer to JWs, the WT or the GB (being an outsider, it was never da Troof to me!) I don't use their pejorative term "Christendom" when talking about other churches, I say mainstream Christianity (they qualify under that umbrella anyway, so I never understood the point of that). I say ex or former JWs instead of apostates. There's probably an entire thread on WT jargonese used to condition the thinking of the PIMIs. Once you're out, not in, you need to stop using their dictionary and their learned lines from their playbook.

When you call yourself it, it's a badge of honour. When someone else calls you it, it's an insult.
Besides, the people on here aren't apostates. That's the Watchtower's designation, and like everything else of theirs, it's wrong. Watchtower definitions don't carry any weight here.
i used to attend the meetings and was baptized about 30 years ago but i haven't gone to the meetings or associated with any one i new from the congregation for around 15 - 20 years.
i want to get back to studying but i am not ready to go to any meetings.
other than the watchtower and awake what book is used these days for people just starting to study with jehovah's witnesses?.
I wouldn't say this is an anti JW forum. It just isn't very pro-Watchtower.
If you go back to a Kingdom Hall, you're probably going to be shocked at how much has changed in 15 to 20 years. Don't let anyone know that you have been on this forum, if you want to start off on the right foot, should you choose to go back down that path.
on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.
While I'll cheerfully categorise them as callous and ruthless, "murderous" isn't an adjective that immediately springs to mind. Even those at the top who have been disgraced have generally lived out a long life.
But perhaps things are changing... 😮
mark jones writes:.
how will history treat joseph rutherford?.
like ben gorden has said, it would depend on who’s looking back.
How will history remember him? If the Google Gemini app has anything to do with it, he'll probably be remembered as African American or Asian. 😱
I prefer to remember him as a caricature of W.C. Fields.
yesterday while shopping i had an interesting experience.
there was an older woman ahead of me at the check out who was dressed in all black, including her stockings and shoes.
in fact i thought that she might be a sister, as i've seen nuns at my wife's church dressed in similar fashion.. as i waited my turn to pay for my purchases, she was engaged in conversation with the cashier and gave him a business card as she was leaving.
You mistook her for a nun? That's a new one. I thought they were trending away from rigidly conservative dress styles.
But not necessarily like this: https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5386998475390976/theocratic-dressing-standard
just ran across a mention of jws on a '70's monty python sketch.. at about the 1:05 mark:.

Also mentioned by Spike Milligan:
an interesting video was on youtube with a person claiming that the memorial date for 2024 was wrong.
so i consulted three different jewish calendars online and sure enough, he appears to be right.
i went back to 2014 and forward to 2027. they have the future dates listed.
MeanMrMustard: "It feels like there is a thread about the inaccuracy of the memorial date every year.."
It's almost as if they have a memorial every year*.
*And like everything else, they misrepresent it. 🙄
just wondering if the witnesses still go door to door.
once in a while i see them doing their cart work and my still in relatives talk about going out in cart work, never mention door to door.
i haven't had a knock on my door since probably 2 years before covid.
Do those letters allow you to contact them back, presumably to arrange a "free" bible study? If you did, and had them over for a discussion, would they pull the old "I'm not here for a debate" schtick?
