*LMAO* Ok, these are hilarious. I have few to add. BTW...Sandy...I cant believe you told the attendants!!!! *LOL* Ok, we had a brother at our bookstudy who read. He was a notorious throat clearer. I distinctly remember him prounouncing "Salome" like "salami". One time, he had a cup of coffee at my sisters house. She likes it strong, and after he drank it, he said, "Wow, I feel like I just smoked a joint or something." At one District Convention, this guy walks in in a long trench coat, parades in front of the deaf section, whips off the coat, and..............no, he wasnt naked...........but had a shirt on that said "Na na naaaa to Jehovah." He was picked up and whipped outta there in no time, but not before he climbed the railings and shook them for a bit. Heh heh. One time, my mother commented and said that when Jesus died on the CROSS, he was a ransom for mankind. Old habits eh!!! *L* Finally, we had a power outtage during the public talk. At the EXACT same moment the lights went out, the speaker sneezed. Everyone was quiet, and he said, "Oh my...brothers? Sisters? I think I have gone blind. I cant see."

What's The STRANGEST Thing You've Seen At A Kingdom Hall?
by minimus ini saw a fight break out on the platform between an elder and a unbelieving husband who accused the elder of f---ing his wife.
he then threw the lectern on the floor and pushed the elder.
it was cool.......

How does it feel to be officially DF'd or DA'd?
by JH inhow do you feel, now that you are out of the jw's?.
does the watchtower society want to make it feel worse than it actually is?
would you say that the scare of being df'd was worse than the real thing?.

How does it feel? It sucks. I was given an ultimatum 2 years ago: DA yourself, of we will DF you. I DA'd myself, and since then, it has been an emotional rollercoaster. My feelings swing back and forth, from being suicidal and wanting to die because the inside hurt overwhelms me, to being angry, pissed off, and fearful for my relatives that are still very much a part of the organization. I still sometimes worry about dying at armageddon, about being completely shunned by my family, whom I love dearly. On my good days, I am relieved to not be apart of it. On my bad days, it would be nice to go to sleep and not wake up for a while. When a JW decides to do some research on the background of the religion, it is a point of no return. Speaking for myself, it is a scary, scary journey. You find out about things you never would have believed when you were devout. You feel guilty. You feel ashamed. As time goes on, I hope to feel enlightened.

OMG yessssss.....if I could go back and relive it , I am sure I would have turned out at least half way normal. Sure, it kept me out of trouble, but I was the biggest nerd in the universe I am sure. Remember them recommending that we bring literature to school and put it on the corner of our desk as a way to witness? Or being told to make the school our "territory"???

I know how you feel...I hid out in the mothers room when I still went to the KH. :( At our Circuit Assembly, I was crying outside of the auditorium, and this "brother" was sitting there with his Bible, and told me that I should not be talking during the session. I looked him in the eye and said, "How would you like to just leave me alone?" Not exactly spitting venom, but it felt good. Re: panic attacks. They run in my family. My baby sister even made it on the Oprah Winfrey show because of her battle with them. There are medications that help. (Bowing to the Celexa God). Take care. *hugs*

Im originally from Canada and moved here to marry my honey.

Desire to talk to an elder
by Eppie inhey everyone,.
i have a question: i am happily faded but i recently got the desire to talk to an elder of my old congregation.
the problem is that he doesn't know i am faded (i kinda disappeared from jw archives while moving to college), and that i do not want to get into trouble by this.

Eppie, you will ulitmately decide to do what YOU want to do. Almost all of us have been where you are right now. In my own experience, when I decided to talk to the elders, naively expecting help, I felt nothing but REGRET afterwards. If you feel guitly now, you will feel even guiltier once you are before a bunch of elders. And more than likely, they will force you to come to a decision regarding where your loyalties lie. I had faded for a good year or so, and they tracked me down. They hit me when I was already falling apart, and their blows were well aimed. As far as your relationship with God, do your own research. Sometimes, the best guidance comes from within yourself.

When you left the JW's
by freedom96 inwhen you left, or were planning to leave, did you plan your exit?
for myself, i had created a life outside the organization.
new friends, etc, so when i did the fade away, it was not as harsh as it has been for others.

Hmmmm....I remember consulting an ex elder on one of these forums and he recommended "fading out". It causes less trauma. SO...what I did was move to Texas. I had divorced my husband (unscripturally...he was the son of an elder so they of course were slightly pissed off). I lived in Texas with my boyfriend for about 5 months, then moved back to Canada. Lo and behold, the elders got wind that I had moved back, and tracked me down at my parents house. They needed "confirmation"....from either me or my family members, that I had indeed been living with someone in Texas. When I asked them why, they said that my exhusband was planning on remarrying. What did this have to do with me? According to them, the marriage vows can be broken..AFTER DIVORCE. Ha! To make a long ugly, pissed off story short, I ended up DA'ing myself. My exhusband has lived happily ever after with a spiritually strong little blonde gal. I on the other hand got a GREAT Valentines present from my husband. :) So much for fading out and a planned exit. Nicole

Did You Really Understand What You Were Getting Into When You Got Baptized?
by minimus inthe majority of people who become jehovah's witnesses, really have no idea what they've gotten themselves into.
did you truly understand those baptismal vows that you made?

I was 16, and wanted to make my mother happy. I remember feeling happy at the time, and thought that the committment would keep me out of trouble. I thought that my dad and my sisters would be encouraged by it. I reached a crossroads at about age 24 when my husband (now ex) got disfellowshipped. Actually come to think of it, it was prior to that. We were never good enough to be associated with. However, the ones that were not baptized were included in everything because they were taking an "interest". I never understood that. That, or why questioning things, like the blood issue, was frowned upon coming from a baptized person. It still bewilders me. The more I read, the more angry I become, and the more worried I become about my mother, who has been a witness since 78.
