Is it possible to appeal to an ombudsman? In some labour systems, the ombudsman mediates.
Two, in the contract you signed, are there specifics as to when salary payments are due? You could gently remind your employers that they are in breach of the relevant clauses.

i don't feel comfortable in asking him why he doesn't go to meetings anymore for some reason, or find out what he believes and if the things i've told him bout ttatt influenced his decision.

Just don't go about talking to him about the meetings and all that past "spiritual" stuff anymore! The more meetings missed and replaced with more relaxing stuff, the happier the two of you will become.
As for the beard thing, you could even buy him a trimmer as a surprise present...

On a more practical side, how about the Board coming together to send her an airticket to visit someone on the Board, or putting together some financial assistance to help her go through these rough times?
Her job isn't helping (irregular salary payment, crappy work environment); she's not happy where she lives (she did complain about some man threatening her); before now, she was out her job and was barely hanging on. There is just enough a body can take.
Could there be someone in South Africa - or even southern Africa (which covers many countries) who could host her for some time until she finds her feet?
Sorry Loubelle if this is not the sort of thing you would appreciate. If so, forgive me.

Spiritually frustrated!!

the spy network will report me to the elders, and that's it, i'm gone before i'm ready.
and before my husband is ready.. can one feel spiritually frustrated?

Julia,
I would really give it some time. Try and savour the time you now have. Talking from my own perspective, I did not find - and have still not found - any church association fulfilling. There are far too many things that remind me of where I'd been and why I would no longer want to get back there. Christianity you can practice by following some of the basics that Jesus laid down - for instance fellow feeling, love for others, etc. If eventually doing so in a loose associative framework works for you, the gap period would at least have given you some time to search without being in too much of a hurry.
