From what I understand, anyone is allowed to read material that is critical of the organization as long as they do not promote the material to other members. Promoting critical material to other members is a disfellowshipping offense--not reading it for yourself.

I was raised in a Witness family but never got baptized. I have been studying with an extended family member for a while after 20+ years of being away from the Kingdom Hall. I asked them about the paradise earth after Armageddon and if we will become robots if we survive. In other words, will we be able to think for ourselves as long as we dont question anything God tells us to do. This family member told me that we we still have complete free will, and that anyone who questions God after Armageddon while in Paradise Earth will immediately be destroyed.
So I said, "But I thought that the Bible says, 'Death will be no more,'" and she told me that this scripture is only referring to the First Death. But the Second Death will remain and basically, for eternity, there will still be people living in Paradise Earth that still have complete free will, and if they choose to rebel, they will immediately be subjected to the Second Death.
Anyone else heard of this? Or were you told that after we make it to Paradise Earth we will suddenly no longer have free will and will only think thoughts that Jehovah allows us to think?

Wow 12 years old??? I don't understand why in most states anyone who has sex with someone who is under 18 can be convicted of rape of a child, but a corpration who baptized children under 12 can disfellowship them and cut off all social contact and condemn them to eternal distruction.

Did you used to be an assembly food rapist?
by yourmomma ini confess proudly that i was one of the biggest assembly food rapists when it switched to the donation arrangement.
in fact, i would roll up to the counter with a fake list and pretend i was getting food for a huge family, lol.
"uh, yes, hello sister, what a fine morning program that was, may i please have 6 roast beef sandwhiches, 6 chocolate puddings, 6 apple danishes, 6 sodas....etc" and i would eat throughout the entire fking program, as it was so boring there was nothing else to do.

So you think you were a True Witness?
by FaithfulBrother infuck you.. i was raised in a jw family in the 1980's-1990's where we had to do the daily text 7 days a week during breakfast at the family table at 7am sharp between 7:00-7:15am.
this was followed by a "spiritual discussion," which was held every morning between 7:15am and 8:00am.. since we were homeschooled, our weekly field service was required from childhood on friday mornings immediately following the spiritual discussion, followed by saturday afternoon field service after the bookstudy, as well as sunday afternoon field service after the watchtower study.. i was also required to read each watchtower and awake magazine and give oral reports about each magazine i read in order for my father to be sure that i had actually read them.
i can't remember for sure, but i think each watchtower and awake was released every two weeks back then, making a new magazine to read every single week, followed by an oral report on every single article (including the watchtower study articles which i also had to read, then study in our weekly family watchtower study where we marked our answers, then studied again at the sunday watchtower study).. in addition to this, we also had a weekly family bible study at night each week, had a family bookstudy at night in which we marked our answers for the saturday morning bookstudy, had a family watchtower study at night where we marked our answers for the sunday morning watchtower study, had a family prayer together every night before bed, every morning before and after breakfast and every night before and after dinner (not including our half-family prayers for lunch by my mother since we were homeschooled.).

Sorry Jeffro. "Fuck You" are the only two words that come to my mind when I think about my childhood.
Thanks Milola, I still work for my JW father, who is interestly coming to the conclusion now finally in 2012 that his JW masters were wrong about 1914. What a fuckin' epiphany, now that mine and my whole sister's life has been based on this lie. Maybe one day he'll be able to admit what he did basically screwed our minds up.
Thanks MrsJones but it's really hard to put the bottle down when your entire life was controlled by something (every thought, every movement) and the only thing that gives you freedom is the bottle.
Thanks sd-7, I don't think anyone can understand substance abuse except someone who's gone through it. Maybe you've never experienced it but you speak as though you are sympathetic.
I will check those books out. -

Fuck you.
I was raised in a JW family in the 1980's-1990's where we had to do the Daily Text 7 days a week during breakfast at the family table at 7AM sharp between 7:00-7:15AM. This was followed by a "Spiritual Discussion," which was held every morning between 7:15AM and 8:00AM.

Well after all this, you might think I would have become a happily functioning Jehovah's Witness today. However, unlike 99% of my peers who got baptized between the ages of 10 and 13, I was never baptized, despite the constant nagging of my JW relatives throughout my childhood.
Instead, I moved 1500 miles away from my home at the age of 18 (since I was threatened by the constant "as long as you live under my roof" threat), but I have been struggling with depression, suicidal thoughts, and drug and alcohol abuse ever since.
My drug of choice at this point is alcohol.
I was brought up with the world view that Armageddon is right around the corner... every year, every month, every day.
For some strange reason, I still have this nagging voice in the back of my head that this system is not going to last long enough for me to grow old in this system. So I choose to drink. I choose to live the last remaining days knowing that I am doomed to everlasting destruction, but my last days will be filled with drunken semi-happiness rather than being a miserable slave to a corporation in exchange for salvation.

The true, unsung hero of the Bible....
by Unlearn inmy undisputed hero of the bible is known by several names, depending on who you talk to...devil, satan, lucifer, etc.. read it, and you'll find that he was the only one who really stood up for you.. he asserted that you could make decisions for yourself...and told you the very real truth that, just because the piece of meat in your chest stops thumping, you positively do not 'die'.. he was your hero.
he stood up to a daddy-maniac and said, 'just because you made us doesnt mean you have the right to tell us what to do.
i thought we were free?'.

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was not just for two people. It was for the entire human race. Adam and Eve did die within the very day of eating from it. A day to God is a thousand years. They both died within the very day, or period of time, of eating from it. This knowledge of good and bad was not immediately experienced by them, but is still being experienced by the entire human race. All humans are now free to partake of either good or bad, and to experience these first hand. It is as if the blue pill and the red pill from the Matrix movie were offered to them. We are not "forced" to do anything as some of the posters on this thread have suggested. Only the people who choose the good part of the the knowledge imparted to them are rewarded.

Oral Review Answers
by youngbro ini am feeling rather lazy.
has anyone got the answers for the oral review for this week?
and although i love the personal comments, i do not think my family would enjoy them, so does anyone have the clean cut answers?.
-
FaithfulBrother
Ah ok, I grew up as an 80's JW child. Never got baptized but I remember loving the written review night because it was the only time I got to draw pictures during the meeting. At any other meeting I was restricted from having a pen and paper to draw on unless I took notes. Got away with drawing pictures for a little while a few times when my parents weren't looking at the paper, but always got taken outside and beaten when I finally got caught.

Maybe Satan didn't get it and then when Jesus was resurrected, Satan was like, "Wtf!!! You tricked me!!! Now I'm defeated. Noooooooooo!!!!!!!"
