I disagree with that statement, but it's pretty typical for an angry person to resort to that sort of comeback, when they don't like something, they just say, "hey that's exactly what the JWs do, too". That's just bullshit.

Oh please, that's just lame. Were you ever a witness? Can you honestly say that wasn't drilled into you every Christmas? I wasn't angry at anyone when I posted that. It's just a fact. Please ask a large group of never been a dubs what they think of Santa. I'm sure the majority will have positive thoughts like Xena posted and very few will be quoting the JW line of "lying to our children". It's a dub teaching that is obviously hard for some to shake.

Four films worth seeing

some films have been released recently on dvd that i thought were really good.

4. "City of God"
The story of a group of kids growing up in Brazil's third world slum "City of God." It is a true story and focuses on one of the boys looking for a way out of a life of poverty and crime, where violence and killing are the norm, who loves photography. With subtitles. Violent, funny, and really great direction.

Steve and I watched City of God last night. Honestly, I didn't like it...at all. Steve did. I guess it was just a bit too real and the fact that misery like that exists is just painful. Then again, I fell asleep a lot...reading a movie does that to me.

I also rented Holes and watched that with the kids on Saturday. What a great story, we all really enjoyed it.

Would jesus lie to your kids we he allow it in his name? Is lying showing love to them? I thought even you outside the org christians were supposed to be honest in everything?

I'm not sure if you even have a point in that. I just was wondering what exactly made you think we are out of org christians? I don't proclaim to be christian. The point of the posts you quoted were that you were condescending and sexist by addressing mpatrick as "woman".

Princess - My comment was not aimed at you, just a general comment after reading the thread, also I was thinking of one of the mothers at the school my kids go to who insists that her kids believe ! . No offense intended sorry, I should have made it clearer.

I wasn't sure but I wanted to make my point clearer anyway. I only used the eye roller 'cause you did. No offense taken.

So fantasies are lies? Is LOTR a fantasy or a big lie? Fiction = Fantasy or Fiction = Lies?

Obviously I totally disagree. I don't think it's wrong to not go along with Santa or the Tooth Fairy, but I do think it's wrong to call others who do "liars". It's a game people.

Angharad: My kids don't have to believe in Santa to get Christmas. There will be a ton of presents under the tree regardless. If they want one from Santa then they will have to go along with it because...it's a game.

To each his own Terry. Personally, I think you try to hard to push your views on people. Using a huge font feels like you are yelling or trying to force something down my throat.

I guess I don't give a rat's ass what you think of Santa or whether or not I let my children believe. FWIW, I didn't choose the Santa thing, my son did. I was at the mall with my sister in law and niece waiting in line for my niece to see Santa. My kids were freaked out by him from birth so I made it clear we were there for Graysen and they were not expected to visit with Santa. At the last second my son bolted over and sat on his lap and asked for a specific present. It was Christmas Eve. Do I tell my son Santa isn't real and he won't be bringing "The Land Before Time" video or will there be a video under the tree from Santa? He was four. I will never think that I have "fooled" him or my daughter. They have been told that once you stop believing, he stops coming.

I grew up without Santa, birthdays and everything else. I always said I didn't care and basically I didn't because I didn't know any better. I never knew what I was missing. If asked I probably would have said the same thing your kids say, because I didn't have anything to compare it to. I can also say that living in Washington state is the best place to live but it doesn't mean sh*t since I've never lived anywhere else.

I don't think either way is wrong. Just don't tell me that I'm fooling, lying or poisoning my kids because I choose to raise them differently than you raise yours.

Good for you, you have seven kids that you have raised in three batches. I guess that makes you some sort of expert.

silent lambs has failed..

if any one has been a regular such as i have in the silent lambs site you will have noticed it has changed for the worse..as of last week i decided to withdraw from my membership...the site was designed by bill to vent, explain and devulge abuse that we have witnessed or experienced..as in my case as a former m.s i had seen two coverups in my hall...the parents to afraid to go to the police and the elders screaming jehovah will leave them if they tell on the org is the crime i had to bare with..so i spoke up and left the org...silent lambs was for that reason...now.

it has mutated to a cheap lowlevel site for apologist and non witness who want to argue on unrelated topics..to top it off bill has given the site to an editor who is so silly and more involved than the participants why bother anymore....to bill..you lost your way...
