i miss many good friends back home in cornwall, my son too.
do you suppose one day that it would be possible to fly to your chosen destination worldwide within the hour, therefore, wherever you were in the world, you could always have the option of being with your friends back home within a total of 2.5 hours, 4 hours with them and still be back home in your departure only a few hours before?
how long before we get to this state of reality before we move on from there?

Steve bought me the iRIVER portable for Christmas. I love it. I can wear it around my neck or on my arm with the arm strap. I transfer my favorite CD's on it...it holds four or five full length CDs...then I listen to them while I run. Sometimes I prefer listening to the radio while I'm running. Some of my runs are getting to be 3-4 hours long so the extended music storage and battery life are really sweet. It's so easy to delete the CDs and load new ones on too. Once you figure out how to navigate your way around the iRIVER, it's a pretty awesome player.
I used to run with a sony walkman CD player with radio. It annoyed the hell out of me and the CD always skipped. I usually would run a bit then run back and chuck it in the car and run silently...

I worked at a local mom and pop donut shop when I was 16. It was the perfect job. I worked after school from 3-5pm and Saturdays 7am-1pm. Of course that meant I missed Saturday morning service but the congo made the donut shop their "coffee break" stop so I still got to see everyone. Then I was able to go in service on Sunday. It sucked when we had afternoon meetings because I usually got stuck with the geeky single elder who also worked Saturdays. We were the only ones who showed up. Sometimes my dad went out too so then it was ok. I'd veg out in the back seat while they did return visits and elder stuff. I still worked there when I started dating Steve (I was 17). He was always willing to go out in service with me on Sundays. We'd sit in the parking lot to see who showed up. Then we'd take off to Seattle for "street work" and breakfast. He didn't want to go out with the geeky elder any more than I did.
My best "worldly" friend worked at the donut shop with me. After the boss went home we'd take the big softball sized apple fritters (he made the worst) and a broom and we'd bat those suckers around the shop. It made the most gawd-awful mess we had to clean up but we'd be in hysterics by then and didn't care.
Memories. I think I'll call that worldly girl and see what she's up to.

I have seen an elder's wife around town a few times. She hadn't seen my son since he was born and never had seen my daughter. I noticed her watching us and smiling one day in front of a shopping area. I caught her eye and smiled and she turned and moved on. I thought it was sad for her but it didn't really bother me. A week or two later I saw her 20 something daughter at the gym and she stopped and said hi to me and the kids for the first time.
I think living well is the best revenge. They are all told stories of how apostates are miserable and sad and their lives go to crap after they leave "Jehovah's Organization". Steve and I drive vehicles with our company name on the side. Our company is doing so much better now than when we were dubs and that is quite obvious. We are very visible which is probably why I rarely see dubs around. They catch site of my car and run for it. On the off chance that I do see them, I always give them a big grin.
It's good to be happy.

It's my birthday and I'm supposed to be picking up the babysitter soon. However, my six year old daughter is too sick for me to leave with a babysitter so I have to postpone my dinner and a movie until next week.
I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to cook or not. Oh hell, I know I'm not going to cook....
I'm going to pour myself a scotch and read a magazine or something until Steve gets home. Then I'll send him out for take out!
