I didn't think PF Changs was any more than North China. Probably depends on who you go with.
It's frustrating to eat at a hit and miss place like N China. We mainly go for the soup and when it's off, it's just so disappointing.
what food places would you reccomend?
if im in a new town, i like going to eat at places that locals go to that most like likely are not in all the tourists guides, if possible.
if you were to come to my town, i'd probably take you to eat at dick's drive in (best burgers imo) and if you were in the mood for something fancy, maybe el gauchos (best steakhouse imo) and terrific atmosphere... how bout you?

Sounds like we all should head down to Domeburger for lunch, better than Dick's you say? Right on!
I'm in V. I'll drag Mulan with me, she's a'skeered of the city.

Jeez if you want a cheap burger I'll cough up another buck or so and get you one at Domeburger, you'll have to wait a few minutes because they won't start cooking it until you order it. But there's only one and it's in Pioneer Square. But then we could take our out of town company on the underground tour.
Hmmm, never had a Domeburger either, have to check it out next time I'm in Pioneer Square. I did take my sister and brother-in-law on the Underground Tour last week. That is a must-see for tourists. Sorry I didn't take Little Toe while he was here. Fascinating.
North China in Edmonds..............best Chinese food I've ever had I do believe. We've been disappointed the last couple of times. Their hot and sour soup isn't consistant. We had hot and sour at PF Changs that was better. Fuji Teriyaki smokes their Kung Pao too, you should try it. It's the place next to Westenhaver chiro.
Scott's Bar and Grill, also Edmonds.................not a bar, (the name is definitely a misnomer) but a pretty high end, pricey place, for special occasions. We always go there for our anniversary..................it's always packed too. Very, very good food, excellent service and good, generous drinks.Yeah, I like Scotts too. They do too have a bar. For visitors I'd skip Scotts and take them to Cutters. Scotts is great food but no windows and no view. Cutters is the same restaurant family but in Seattle with a view. So the food is still excellent but more to see. Girardi's in Edmonds for some amazing (expensive) Italian food.

Good question V. I usually end up feeding visitors at my house.
For Mexican, there is a great taqueria in Lynnwood called Tacos Guymas. Always full of the local hispanic population and they hardly speak English...both signs of good Mexican food.
We also like Sahib in Edmonds by the ferry. However, the last time Steve and I went there the food wasn't as good and the management had changed so I probably would pick something else. Good Thai food at Thai Cottage, just up the road from Sahib. A little teriyaki shop down the street makes the best Kung Pao chicken.
We should go out sometime V.
we are so busted.
i learned tonight, from my source, that someon saw our christmas tree and reported it to the elders.. rats, our days of anonymity are likely almost over.
starting tuesday, the local congregation has the circuit and the district overseer, before their ca next weekend.
Hey Mom, is it possible he saw you here and found info about the tree? Makes sense he wouldn't fess up to reading an apostate site but would say he saw it while driving by or something. Just a'wondering.
i'm not going to be on the board anymore and just wanted to say thank you for all the help you've provided me.
if you do want to write sometime you can always ask doc for my e-mail address.
i've met some really wonderful people but for a variety of reasons just can't be here right now.
Damn, I was going to PM you later. Doc, can you PM me kitties email please?
Thanks,
Rachel

Ooh yeah, Post Mortem was a good one. I really liked the Kay Scarpetta novels. I also like the ones with the three cops...can't remember any of the titles or the characters names though...been too long.
Brenda: I loved Shark Dialogues too. Deeply disturbing in some parts but so moving too. I've never been to Hilo, but I have been to several spots in the book and I'm somewhat familiar with the culture so that helped a lot too. It was recommended by some women in my daughter's hula halau.
Can't let a book thread go three pages without mentioning Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series.
I'm off to her website to see when the next book is due to be released!
we just took ours down last night!
the first "after-wts" year that we celebrated christmas, i left everything up until the 7th of january!
it doesn't seem like we've enjoyed them long enough!.
I spent yesterday taking everything down and putting away the boxes for next year. My living room feels huge without the tree!
Lights are still up on the house though. Steve was fighting a cold over the weekend so we left them up. Now the temps dropping and looks like snow for the weekend, might have them another week!
I love decorating the house and putting up the tree. Can't imagine as they are going up, how much I love to put it all away...but it's always so nice to get back to normal.

I've read just about all of Patricia Cromwell's books. I agree with Mulan re: Blow Fly. It wasn't her best. I read the sequal too. That particular story is very disturbing. After I read them I put her aside for awhile.
Shark Dialogues by Kiana Davenport was an excellent story of four generations of Hawaiian women. Highly recommend.
