my mind was wandering last night and i started thinking about the way 'faithful' jws issue blanket condemnations.
i wondered if it's a personality thing that is just reinforced by the jw mantra of "we're always right and we're the only true religion etc.

Maybe the snow storm WAS Jehovah's way of cancelling the meeting.
I always thought blanket statements were part-and-parcel of being a JW. Without them, the hold on the R&F would not be as great, as openminded brought out.
Speaking of fashion, I noticed that congs from the urban areas (ie close to the city) were very hip, and more daring (bigger splits, tighter clothes, more skin exposed) than the more suburban or country congs. But doesn't Jehovah have the same standards everywhere?

in the last 24 hours i have heard of two instances where the jw parents of disfellowshipped children have been willing and seemingly happy to have association with them ie having them visit and for meals.
both say that there were topics to be avoided during conversation but that it was a major improvement on the way things had been.. in both of these situations the adult children are married to non believers.. is this just a coincidence?.
has there been 'new light'?.
It's not exactly "New Light". Parents have been "allowed" for a few years now to have limited association with their df'd children ie. those who don't live in the parental home.
Those that do seem to do it discreetly, perhaps to accommodate for the more conservative JWs who refuse to associate with their df'd children.
Was there a WT saying it was now OK?
Or is it a case of the liberal JWs vs conservative JWs?
its amazing the extent these circulate in the wt world.
i am not so sure, but it develops a powerful folklore amongst jws....often with a moral at the end!
typically these circulate as experiences given in talks and are then adopted by the masses as truth.. for example, anyone hear the ul about the married couple where the wife had to have a routine blood check.
as it turns out, according to jw urban legend, the bro giving the talk had been down on his hours that month, the watchtower of the guy killed was later found amongst the debris, apostate thoughts scribbled into the margins like -"jf rutherford antichrist" "watchtower society 666" and the mop of the person who left the kh door unlocked had been bought at a garage sale of some people about to expatriate to tanganyika.
