Verrry interesting. I believe there is much we don't know about, regarding link between the conscious and unconscious mind.

Mystery vs. Mastery
by Introspection injust thought i share something interesting i read recently, this is by rachel naomi remen, a md that has worked in the field of mind-body medicine:.
"the mind has its limitations.
when we are mentally identified, we have a tendancy to deny that which cannot be understood.

Joey Ramone dead at 49
by Pathofthorns insuch a shame i wasn't old enough to appreciate the music in it's day.
a rather sad moment as one of the fathers of punk rock music passes on.
a favourite band and a great influence in modern music and what is in my opinion one of the funnest forms of music around.. path

Circle of friends
by mommy ini have a circle of friends.
the kind of friends you can pop in whenever you are in the area, without a phone call first.
the kind of friends i would allow to enter my house if i wasnt home, to borrow sugar, flour, toilet paper, etc, if they needed it.. we are a close knit group and watch out for each other.

I am SO sorry to hear of this horrible news. The others have given great advice and I can't add anything more. But be assured that your friends here will give you all the support you need (and more!)
P.S. Would you like us to testify on your behalf?

Emotional Stages of Leaving the WT
by larc insince there is a lot of emotion expressed on this discussion forum, i wanted to present a conceptual framework that might be useful.
elizabeth kiebler-ross studied the emotional state of those facing a terminal illness.
she concluded that those suffering this fate went through five stages: 1. denial (this can't true; i want a second opinion,etc.),.

Sometimes people read threads but don't post, because the information is of such quality that there isn't anything else that could be said.
Upon reading this thread, I'd say that this has the sort of information that is worth taking away and dwelling on, before posting a reply. Which is what I'll do!

How about some NEW dates!!
by JWD inas i`ve looked into the history of the wt society it has become glaringly obvious that one of the main reason for the growth of the.
org.
has been it`s fixation on the end of the world.
-
Prisca
After SOOOO much emphasis on 1914, it would be suicide for the Society to take away its doctrines regarding that date. They have used it for too long for them be able to turn atound and say, "1914? Ohh.. we didn't mean you to take too much notice of THAT date."
Too many long-time JWs would see right through it. The r&f are too tired as it is. To then try to admit it was wrong all along.....??!!!

When did Jehovah change his mind
by OlderTom inin the old testament (hebrew scriptures for jdubs) solomon, david abraham and many others who jehovah considered as friends and he used them for various jobs and he blessed them.. now these friends of jehovah had many wifes and also conubines, some even had children with these and jehovah approved.. jesus comes along and he is gods son and according to jdubs in subjection to god the father, equal to god the father for other christians.. what gives jesus the right to overrule his father and say anyone who divorces exept for reasons of adultry and marries another is a fornicator and will get dfed?.
jdubs go a bit further and allow divorce if the ex is likely to endager a jdubs spirituality but the consider remarrieng the crime.. q can jesus overrule his father ?
q why, when did god change his mind?

What I want to know : how come it was alright for engaged couples in Israelite times to sleep together, but after Christ died, it is a no-no? What did Christ ever say about pre-marital sex?

Would you slam the door in his face?
by OlderTom inif a man knocked on your door and introduced himself as jesus christ son of jehovah, would you ask him in and feed him or would you slam the door in his face and call the cops?.
if your daughter came home pregnant and claimed it was an imaculate conception, would you believe her?.
why do you believe in the other virgin birth?.
-
Prisca
Whoa, OlderTom!!!
What did you have for dinner?? What was in it??!?!
You've asked some very pertinent questions. I'm afraid I would call the cops if some guy came to my door and claimed to be the Son of God. Unless he could do some amazing miracle, like turn my glass of water into wine, LOL!
As for the virgin birth, I've always thought the Society (and most religions for that matter) really don't give Joseph enough credit. After all, how would you react if your fiancee came to you and said she was pregnant, when you KNEW it wasn't yours?? Yet he stuck by her. Quite a man.

I want my hair back!
by LovesDubs in...yep, the presiding overseer of our congregation when i was a mere study, said that when the new system is here, the first thing he wants jehovah to do is give him his hair back!
lol!
i thought, dang, is that the only reason you continue to do this garbage?

Why would Jehovah want to take the poor guy's hair???

If Kingdom halls closed their doors
by nojw86 injust a thought on how the zealous witness would overcome the situation?
would they open homes for bible study?
or take the wait and see what happens next way out.

What About C.O.'s?
by metatron inthis is a part of the sociological puzzle that's worth.
what motivates these guys to hang on?.
's i've encountered in the past ten years are.
-
Prisca
Metatron brought up an interesting point about illnesses of the COs and their wives.
Why are so many of them sick? Many of the COs that came through the congregations I were in, had some kind of food allergy, or some health issue that placed restrictions on what they could and couldn't eat. Which in turn, made it harder for those that wanted to invite these ones for a meal, as most foodstuffs contain some ingredient or chemical that the CO or his wife couldn't eat.
Maybe it is the body's way of telling these ones that they are over-doing things, or maybe some underlying problem that they aren't facing.
It just seems to me there is an over-proportionate number of COs and wives who suffer from these kinds of things, compared to the general population.
Any other thoughts on this?
