Can you get around the inevitable "we hired the one we considered most suitable (or whatever) for the job"?
Don't know about how laws are in America, but in my country you can
appeal that "decision" (their supposedly hiring of someone more qualified). Then the employer is required by law to prove that the other person is more qualified.
So if you think you have a case, go for it!
when i was 13, all of the other kids in my congregation were taking home school, getting them out of the "bad association" in public school.
they talked me into it too.. of course, at 13 trying to get me to actually do the schooling was a feat that no one could master.. i worked for a brother in the cong.
full time, and never finished the schooling.. so...flash forward.

I think you've received some great encouragement, and real-life examples of mature-age schooling. I'd suggest exploring all avenues available to you, and look into whatever courses and job opportunities you can find.
I can identify with the resentment you have regarding the effects of following the Society's decrees. I didn't go on to university, due to it being percieved as "spiritually dangerous" [8>] Then thanks to the "recession we had to have" (the P.M Keating's words) I couldn't find a job for 8 months. Then I was kicked out of home. I finally found a job - delivering pizzas!
Since then, I have had to work my way up (how much lower than can you go than delivering pizzas, lol!) It takes perseverance to continue, when times are tough, but sometimes they are the times when the best opportunities show themselves.

i recently had a medical scare, went through testing, and scans.
a doctor even called round my house uninvited to give me a hospital appointment!
are we helping enough individuals to exit the borg to justify contributing to the armoury of their leadership, which points inward on the remaining dubs?
The answer to this is : YES!
I think there are many many JWs out there that have doubts, are unsure who to turn to, and in the privacy of their own home or work place, can look up the internet and see that they are not alone!
I was just like that, having questions that weren't being answered by the WTS, knowing something was wrong, but just couldn't put my finger on it. I suffered great dispair and depression, thinking I had wronged God with my doubts and questions.
By coming onto the Net, and discovering the answers I had been looking for, it was a turn-around in my life.
I will be forever grateful to those that have put up and maintain those sites to help others who want to know the real truth about the "truth".
By having this armoury up on the Net it may give the WTS excuses to wage war against the "apostates" on the internet. But they can't prevent the amount of information that is out there, available for ALL to see and thus make a decision for themselves.

last week they kept him.
He is having these meetings with them hoping that it shows that he is "repentant" because he wants to stay in their good books. As he's been away for so long, they will want to make sure he knows what is expected of him if he returns. The first thing being, he has to cut off his relationship with you. He obviously has a lot on his mind that he isn't able to discuss with you, so no doubt he is talking with these guys to get some advice.
Consider his leaving to be a blessing in disguise. I'm sorry that you've wasted 4 yrs with this guy who can't work out want he wants in his life. You obviously still care about him as a friend. It's a shame he doesn't understand what unconditional love is.

i've posted a few times before briefly explaining my current situation.
Another Aussie on this site had trouble and wanted out, so he moved, but said he was moving to another state, and gave the elders an address, saying it was the address of the secretary in his "new" congregation. He actually gave them the address of a friend, who passed on his records when the elders sent them to the friend's address.
There is another poster here who did the same. It worked, and enabled him to quietly "dissappear". You could give this a try.
